@georgealderson4424 You're right as far as you go but that's to focus on a limited aspect of this and ignore the conflict of interest, and any questions of morality. The Tories prefer a limited focus, because they know Tory voters won't like the moral implications. The conflict of interest aspect (before current resignations) was that she was a non-Executive Director of Hancock's Department and the role of Non-Executive Directors is to give independent advice and oversight of the performance of the Department. How can she be independent when they were having an affair? That's like appointing your best mate to mark your homework.
1
@georgealderson4424 I used the word 'affair' in the loosest possible sense to mean 'something going on' not necessarily a full blown sexual relationship but in many workplaces it's policy not to have such relationships and it can be a sacking offence. It's regarded as bad for morale because it indicates favouritism. The outrage among Conservative voters would be related to their conservative social views and how they like the Party to be seen and presented to voters.
1
@georgealderson4424 Sadly so. They have the help of a lot of media and they try to ostracise, intimidate or silence media that are critical of them. At the moment Boris is proposing to privatise Channel 4 because he hasn't forgotten how they embarrassed him by displaying an empty podium, when he failed to accept their invitation for their leadership debate.
1
They're here because many of them are already British passport holders or helped British forces. They've been flown direct from Afghanistan. Do you not watch the news?
1
@katdes7305 Illegal immigrants aren't entitled to benefits. Don't you check your facts?
1
@katdes7305 They may claim to be asylum seekers but they have to be checked out to see if they are genuinely asylum seekers or economic migrants. The latter are sent back, but yes they are housed and fed until their cases are sorted out. I am a taxpayer and I'm also paying towards the £37bn that Boris handed out to his friends and supporters in contracts for which there was no competition, and which have not been published as legally required, and for no little benefit to the country, as assessed by experts. I guess you're o.k with paying for that as long as the friends and supporters are not foreign.
1
That would require a general election, but as there is a 'viable' Parliament, the Queen could refuse it.
1
He can achieve more where he is. One MP on their own can't achieve much in Parliament. It's collectively that people can achieve whether in or out of Parliament.
1
@Anees- No. Science.
1
@zotharr I don't watch much TV. I get news online more, but I suppose you have a point as to mutate is to change and the TV picture is always changing. One of life's obvious points though.
1
@mydogeatspuke Don't you think highly of yourself?
1
@mydogeatspuke It's you who keeps the comments going. So glad you put me right Doctor Freud. Perhaps this conversation can end now.
1
Suella Braveman would be a disaster. She's worse than Boris for telling lies, and is willing to break the law and state that it's not illegal.
1
'I'm prepared to take on the orthodoxy'. That means 'I am going to ignore the experts (again)'.
1
No they model themselves on the Tory government.
1
@paulcummins5231 Any relation to Dominic?
1
@paulcummins5231 He's not really. He's his own best friend, out for revenge.
1
@paulcummins5231 All the media love a scandal and a revenge story. It's clickbait
1
@flabbybum9562 He's the man who admits he 'didn't realise' the importance of the port of Dover to our trade with the EU, and this was when he was appointed as chief negotiator for Brexit, a post which he resigned from shortly afterwards. Many of these confident 'contenders' either have no awareness of their ignorance and shortcomings or don't care if they do.
1
Understaffing is due to Brexit but here's some people who may be willing to fill those vacancies.
1
@johnp6636 There sure aren't Brits queueing up to fill those vacancies.
1
Because, as Churchill said, it's the worst system except for all the alternatives.
1
Dim and dimmer.
1
There were lots of women and children on the planes. Do you not read the news?
1
@knightofwangernumb2998 You mean you don't read sources you don't agree with and decide to call it propaganda. You can at least see the images of people on the planes if you look.
1
gladifly. The level of your bigotry and ignorance is astounding. You are bang in line with Nazi thinking.
1
Pras Lye. I should welcome you since I live there, but bigots are not welcome in London.
1
Pras Lye. Nope. The groomers were jailed.

It's not fine that any of the Royal family were friends with Adolph Hitler but it was only the King who abdicated who was friends with him. The present Queen and her parents were a target of his bombers. People aren't being 'replaced'. They are still here but many city inhabitants have moved to a better life in the countryside outside of the cities. Maybe corporations 'served' the Nazi government in Germany (which was also self-service in terms of profits), but they did not serve the people. The people were gun fodder for Hitler in the end. He did not care if they all died as long as they continued the fight, even when he knew it was no longer possible to win that fight.
1
Gladifly. That's aboslutely not true. 1) It was Edward VIII, King George's brother who was friendly towards Hitler. 2) The Brits did not target civilians at first. British civilians were targeted by German bombers during the Battle of Britain in 1940. 3) The British did not start the war. Hitler was warned by the allies that there would be war if he invaded Poland and he chose to invade Poland thus starting a war. Stop reading and listening to fake history. Look it up for yourself.
1
gladify. You are wrong. Show me any evidence that George VI met Hitler. You are getting him mixed up with his brother Edward and can't be bothered to check it seems. The Battle of Britain started in July 1940 and 'From 7 September 1940, London was systematically bombed by the Luftwaffe for 56 out of the following 57 days and nights.' 'More than 40,000 civilians were killed by Luftwaffe bombing during the war, almost half of them in the capital, where more than a million houses were destroyed or damaged.' Chruchill did order a bombing attack on Germany in May 1940 after the Germans bombed their allies in Rotterdam, Holland. When allies are at war they will seek to protect each other. Hitler only wanted friendship with Britain on his own unreasonable terms i.e allowing him to invade other countries, and you could not trust Hitler. He had an alliance with Stalin, then suddenly invaded his 'ally' Russia. It does not matter that there were Germans in Poland. That does not give one country a right to invade another and when Hitler did invade, he had extermination camps built for Polish opponents and Polish Jews. He was a disgusting human being responsible for millions of deaths of his own people, his opponents in the war and the Jews. Defending him is frankly something only nazi sympathisers do.

@hurera2000 Sadly, many people find the 'smooth toff' image appealing and vote for it.

Rahul D When my daughter worked as a waitress, she was the only English person working in the restaurant and the other staff said to her 'Why are you working here? If we spoke English as well as you we would not be working here.' Most English people aim for better paid jobs. The immigrants are prepared to work for lower pay it seems because where they come from pay is even worse or jobs are not available. The theory was that if we came out of the EU, pay would have to increase to attract more British workers. We shall see. P.S. Immigrants are keen for their children to be educated so that they can get better paid jobs than their parents.
1
Rahul D I'm sure there are still many people desperate to get out - men and women.

That slimy snake!

The Victorian drainage system is unable to cope with these volumes of water and the ground can't soak it up either as so much of it is concreted over.
1
@billykimbah2528 Youtube doesn't show dislikes on comments but you can dislike a page.
1
@gowdsake7103 Yes I've seen lots on the flights. Do you not look at the news pages online?
1
Too unworldly and unpractical. Doesn't know how anything works.
1
Not Truss. She's too dim.
1
Get him a bowl of milk then
1
@Chadhogan111 You can't change the geography of the continent. You are European because you live within the continent called Europe.
1
Probably a Tory donor.
1
@chriswilde7246 A spoiled vote is an ignored voter. Better to vote for a smaller party as the main parties do take note of their national share of the vote, and how many votes nationally they are losing to other parties, so that can affect policy indirectly sometimes.
1
@chriswilde7246 O.K. Start your own party or continue to be ignored is the sad reality.
