Stealing tax payer's money to feed corporate greed, lying to the electorate and fixing the system in your favour.   3.  @kal9001  The effort you put into that long-winded opinionated monologue could have been avoided if you could have reasoned that my comment was a slight on the aristocracy in the form of humour. You also seem to have missed my comment, directly before yours! "I'm not denying the value of checks and balances, but we don't need serfdom and aristocrats performing those roles. We also don't need to be paying the majority of them who contribute very little."

As for the replacement, who said anything about replacing infrastructure or location? I proposed removing aristocrats and replacing them with people more suited to the role of checks and balances. You could pay lawyers and human rights advocates a reasonable salary of half what Politicians get, and I'd argue their contribution would be far more efficacious than sleepy aristocrats. Anyways, off for a bath to warm up, can't afford central heating lol.

  18. Despite being 46% reliant on renewables we only have solar, wind, hydro, geothermal and basically anything that moves producing kinetic energy to draw from. Fossil fuels are for dinosaurs, literally. If only we could find out what superconductor those slippery Tories are made of, we could create infinite energy...

Who now degrade services and push price hikes in a never-ending quest to send the money out of our economy and into the waiting offshore bank accounts of the shareholders. Still, they also like to give billions to dodgy government contractors in overpriced contracts, then allow the contractor to fail while betting against them on hedge funds. So many elaborate schemes to put taxpayer money in the hands of the rich private sector.

  21. Yes, I've already corrected people who think public sector civil servants will be better off. The fact that most people can't afford to add £40k or 60K a year to their pension pot or that a £million cap being removed will affect anyone who isn't already super wealthy seems to go over their heads. Tory PR is full of misconceptions and most believe the hype and don't research...

  22.  @jeffreybresnahan  Agreed, I was like two other commenters born in '72, so I experienced the day trips and Xmas parties from that perspective. But even when I started work in 87 the larger companies still had a lot of those traditions. It was a great moral boost, improved productivity, gave the companies a good name and encouraged school leavers to seek work/apprenticeships in those industries. Another thing we've lost is real apprenticeships, now it's just work for free under some internship and then they get rid of you and replace you with another sucker.

But Trump, Cambridge Analytica scandal and Brexit was the work of a cabal including Robert Mercer, Steve Bannon, Andrew Breitbart, Arron Banks, Peter Thiel, Peter Hargreaves etc with some minor players such as Jacob Rees-Mogg, Nigel Farage, Dominic Cummings. It seems to be more financial motivations and power rather than purely political ones. Although obviously political motivations are related.

However reversing Brexit won't undo the generational debt, lost relationships, damage to prestige, trade deals etc and we have a lot of bridges to repair to get the EU members to agree to that, it could take decades.
