Then I stopped adding flavour just using sugar, water and champagne yeast, then distilled it once it had reached 18%. Drain the first 5% away, then bottle the rest. But I don't drink much anymore so haven't done it for a while.

  9. Ukraine is being used as a staging ground for a proxy war in the 'not so' cold war v2.0, in much the same way Syria is. NATO/US has been trying to get Ukraine to join NATO as they want an outpost on the Russian front. Putin is an authoritarian, right-wing megalomanic and so the Ukrainian invasion was always a likely outcome of NATO pressure. Both sides are using Ukraine for their own ends while we've seen Ukraine trying to walk a line of independence while retaining close ties to its neighbours. I don't believe in absolutes, life is full of grey areas despite the media trying to define polarising narratives constantly, to drive a wedge between society on a multitude of issues.

If anything it's your simplistic view that is in error, Russia are not going to allow a NATO outpost on their doorstep and NATO want that outpost. At the June 2021 Brussels Summit, NATO leaders reiterated the decision taken at the 2008 Bucharest Summit that Ukraine would become a member of the Alliance with NATO. Please feel free to research those summits and consider the implications of Ukraine picking a side...

Russia has no say in Ukraine's decision but Ukraine knew Russia would invade if they showed any signs of joining NATO, hence why Ukraine has avoided the open invitation for over a decade. They try to remain neutral. I don't think you have a grasp on geopolitics or words such as populist. You also repeat the same argument after your points have been thoroughly rebutted with factual evidence regarding the aforementioned summits. I have no need for a circular debate with you so please don't bother to repeat the same nonsense again...

If you look into the recent legislation from the Tories regarding human rights, spycops bill, anti-protesting legislation, media control, internet control etc including privatising channel 4; the last bastion of semi-impartial news in Britain. The Representation of the People act 1948 changed it to the current system although it was 1950 before that system was used in elections - before that we've used several different systems including Single Transferable Vote, BLOC vote, and Limited vote. While many share the aspects of PR (Especially Single Transferable Vote which has been reintroduced in the N.Ireland Assembly since 1973) However, you are correct that we've never really had a true PR system throughout the UK. Although the Scottish Parliament, the Welsh Senedd and the London Assembly have been using PR for a couple of decades.

It was re-birthed by Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher and has been the common denominator of both sides of the house in the UK and US for decades. It should more accurately be called neoconservative as it was re-birthed from its earlier 19th-century form by two conservatives.

  38. Brexit was a catastrophic clusterfk and will not be reversed in decades, even with the best will in the world. We can't recoup trade deals, relationships and security agreements that took us 4 decades to establish. While rejoining the EU may be beneficial, getting back what we had is next to impossible. Starmer used Brexit to undermine Corbyn and he will do what his corporate and state sponsors dictate.

Many countries can support their population during times of war or disease via their native production. It used to be a given before mass production. People would still have the choice of luxury goods from supermarkets, but we should as a nation, be self-reliant.

Now we pay over £100 billion per annum in corporate welfare and subsidies which is 66 times the cost of unemployment (£1.56 billion last year) while those corporations also cost us between £40-120 billion per annum in unpaid taxes. That's before the extortion of bail-outs. I'm sure people like you would be happy for the workers to keep paying the tab for the lack of transparency in the crown, estates and overseas territories which allows such corporate tax losses, as does Starmer (Corbyn offered to change that by enforcing transparency). After all, while 1/3rd of the population live in working poverty why not give their taxes to billionaires to buy a new yacht... If Starmer and his gang of paid lobbyists had got behind Corbyn we wouldn't have a Tory government now asset-stripping Britain and giving us generational debt. imagine the difference it would have made to the pandemic and our economy if Corbyn had won with his Free Broadband, Green Industrial Revolution, Rebuilding Public Services, Tackling Poverty and Inequality ensuring the NHS was funded and that no school child goes hungry...

That difference is not tiny, it's the difference between Social Democracy and Neoliberalism. The difference between recognising poverty is directly linked to corporate greed. The difference between corporate hegemony and democracy (lobbyists usurp democracy with bribes). The difference between recognising that global debts of almost $300 trillion (3.5 times global GDP) prove we are enslaved to debt. The difference between recognizing neo-fascism or allowing it to rise via complacency. As the banks increase the density/mass of currency by printing more money, the rich attain a greater share of the resources and the poor become poorer. The polarisation of capital/resources.
