A moral backbone? just a normal backbone would be nice. I've seen jellyfish with a stronger backbone than a Tory MP.

Tories should never have been re-elected after Austerity. But I hope you're right, no matter how many Brits suffer Stockholm syndrome for their oppressive government there must be a tipping point. It would help if we had a decent opposition that offered something other than neoliberalism. Red or Blue flavoured neoliberalism isn't much of a choice...

Please be kind enough to read and share this appeal: Are you aware that many Tory MPs have never had the benefits of a happy family upbringing? That many Tory MPs were brought up by paid help or a Nanny? That some Tory MPs only know their parent's name because it is displayed on their Trust Fund? That their closest confidant and friend is their butler? If you can spare just 10 minutes a week please reach out to a Tory MP, send them a message or a letter and tell them that they are loved and that there is a better way. Encourage them to integrate with people, you know real people. If you would like to adopt a Tory MP you should be hypocrite tolerant and have a very high boredom threshold. They require the most exquisite diet, because of their fragile constitution and need lots of care and light exercise once a year. A reasonable-sized mansion is suggested for housing your Tory MP and a large amount of public money should be set aside for future upgrades such as duck ponds, and moats; you know the usual. It's important to remember a Tory MP is not just for Christmas, they can be found dipping into the public cookie jar at all times of the year. Adopt a Tory MP today, and show them the way to a better life...

Rees-Mogg also struggles with 21st-century realities and 20th-century realities for that matter. Cheers for the vid Phil!

To be fair I always wondered what the product of relations between Kermit the frog and an Austrian born fascist would look like, now I know...
61
If you paint Boris green he'd look like a cross between Shrek and Jabba the Hutt... Just saying...
59
Morning everyone, I have something to say, please bear with me. Just because someone was born with a trust fund and their family has lived on inherited wealth for generations or because they invest that money in highly lucrative immoral, heartless and often criminal forms of profiteering it doesn't mean they're a bad person. Just because the government and big business conspire to rob hard-working taxpayers using tools like subsidies, tax relief, tax breaks, low wages and corporate welfare that doesn't mean the average person should complain about silly little things like not being able to heat their home, supply energy to the devices they rely on to function or indeed feed their family. If you don't have enough money to live you should consider not living. It's long past time to stop blaming the criminal elites for their effect on our lives and take personal responsibility for the world we had no choice in moulding, even though we are given the illusion of choice. I hope I've made myself clear!
57
Stop being mean to Tory PMs, they're trying their best (in a soulless kleptocrat way). Maybe the one we get next week will be better
56
Suella said it wasn't illegal, they just had 'problems with specific countries' and I for one believe her. The Tories are such trustworthy honest people and would never lie or break international laws!
55
What exactly, is the point of laws when they only apply to the poor and those that can't afford decent legal advice? No wonder the Tories created Bobby Peelers in the first place and have since reduced legal aid to the point of irrelevance and absurdity...
54
It's lucky we have people like Phil to do much of the groundwork. However, while most people never question what they're told the onus should be on the media to provide accurate and well-analysed, impartial information. We need plurality in the media and healthy scepticism in the electorate. Occam's razor and Cartesian doubt should also be used on the big picture.
53
"The Tories have run the country with all the compassion and decency of Fred and Rosemary West and the NHS is their patio!" quotes as it's filtered the first time around...

@Andrew-vx2ls I think - despite constant lies to the contrary - Brexit was all about Britain being the global leader in corporate tax avoidance and the criminal elite's money laundering thanks to the crown estates and overseas territories which lack transparency. Obviously, the EU crackdown after the Panama Papers scandal - which references many top Tories, Royalty and Russian oligarchs - and the EU Anti-Tax Avoidance Directive that resulted in 2015 was a huge incentive for Cameron's visit to the EU the same year, to beg the EU to add loopholes or exclude Britain. Cameron returned empty-handed and then announced the Brexit referendum. All this has been brought back to the forefront by the Pandora Papers exposing similar connections to Royalty, Russian Oligarchs and top politicians.

Article 31 specific, general, and additional considerations include these clauses/subclauses from 2001. (b) Refugees are not required to have come directly from territories where their life or freedom was threatened. (a) Article 31(1) requires that refugees shall not be penalized solely by reason of unlawful entry or because, being in need of refuge and protection, they remain illegally in a country.
49
If I was a Tory MP I'd want to be sacked too. Not that I'd ever become one in the first place, I'd rather cover myself in fishbait and jump into a shark-infested pool. Which surprisingly isn't that dissimilar from a Tory conference...
48
Some people often accuse me of being extreme-left. Like ideology is a religion or something. To those people I say: Our ideology, that art for everyone, Socialism be thy name. Our time will come as Capitalism is undone. On Earth, as it is inevitable. Give unto those your daily charity and forgive us our profits. As we forgive neoliberals who use profit against us. And lead us not into greed, but deliver us from monopolies. For thine is dialectical materialism, class struggle against the tories. For ever and ever, Ahem...

The reason Tories always try to cut the wages of teachers and nurses is that most teachers and nurses see their career as a vocation, not just a job. They do it because of a calling to that profession out of a passion to heal or teach. It really is despicable that two such important professions in society are subject to cynical political manipulation. The most caring and dedicated members of society live in poverty while wealthy selfish bullies get everything handed to them on a plate.
46
I'm quite happy to go without heating if it means bumper profits for energy companies and shareholders. It's only gone up 8 times the price in two years... "UK power prices have tripled year-on-year from August 2020 (£36/MWh) to August 2021 (£107/MWh) – a jump of £71/MWh. The UK now pays £263.99 per MWh in August 2022."
46
The general public can't possibly consider the Tories a valid option, not that the opposition is much better, but seriously? after the past 13 years? What parallel universe would we live in if the Tories won again. If that happens im'a quantum leap outta here...
46
...upstaged by Boris Johnson lol. As if it's possible that any land mammal could be upstaged by the thing from the reject bin in Jim Henson's workshop.
43
In a Tory's life, one thing counts, In the bank; large amounts. I'm afraid Tories horde the money trees. They also pick a pocket or two...
43
While I am sure the fact that the Social Care Act of 2013 has allowed more and more for-profit organisations to claim a larger chunk of the NHS budget to give to their shareholders is a significant cause; I'll be watching and writing down any new facts Phil discusses as this situation is of great importance to anyone who enjoys living.
41
I'm just glad we choose the best of the best to represent us on the international stage and to protect us from economic and social decay at home...
40
Yes but his consistency in u-turning is impressive!
39
Nationalisation will save paying subsidies, grants, tax relief, bailouts, corporate welfare etc which would save over £100 billion per annum. Not to mention all profit goes back into improvements and research as there are no shareholders. Nationalisation not only pays for itself but gives a country self-sustainability and control over its essentials. Rather than being held hostage and exploited by market forces as we find ourselves at the moment regarding the energy crisis.
38
That photo makes Boris look like Matt Lucas pretending to be a schoolboy obsessed with his phone. Which is still an upgrade from how Boris normally presents himself.
34
We should be 100% reliant on renewables. We are an island with lots of wind, rivers, coast and a fair bit of sun. The Tories have been cutting funding to renewables for years and going back on promises which has left us reliant on Norway and Russia for our gas. Gas is the predominant fuel used to create electricity, so when we talk about energy we are mainly talking about our reliance on gas. Norway are virtually 100% reliant on renewable sources of energy and sell us their excess, there are many countries that are 100%. We should be self-sufficient with resources such as energy and food, especially in the modern unstable world. Renewables will always be stigmatised in the media, and yes even renewables rely on materials and processes that aren't ecologically friendly. However, 100% renewable energy must be a goal for any modern country.
33
I'm sure he would, he's the type of man who uses statistics as a drunk person uses lamposts. For support rather than illumination.
32
Authoritarian legislation, followed by corruption and lies. Yet still, the British public will tug their forelock, doff their cap and keep voting for their oppressive overlords. The media have created a Stockholm Syndrome suffering British public who by now have PTSD from the 'bread and circus' of continual clusterfks and incompetence.
31
Thanks for the vid Phil, inversion of the truth is Tory PR 101. A Very Merry Christmas to one and all! "Merry Christmas everyone, May your wildest dreams come true. May the presents that you give, Be gifts of happiness for you. Happy Xmas to you all, May your children feel the wonder. May your thoughts be pure and true, And your troubles; torn asunder. May your charity heal the vulnerable, May your kindness salve the bruised. May this season be all you wished for, Hope and joy to your family and you"
30
@jonathonjubb6626 Time to get of our asses and act like the French do when their government gets a little cocky...
29
@huwzebediahthomas9193 The way they've reduced the population despite its growth is truly impressive. Economic euthanasia works just as well as a fire.
28
Who owns the media? Lebedev and other Tory supporters. PS Goodbye Channel 4.
28
@anglonorse2943 ;-) I aim to please.
27
@capt.bart.roberts4975 I'd like a a judge to give him time, about 20 years for a start :)
27
Brexit benefits never existed, no matter how well it was delivered it would have only been beneficial to tax-dodging elitists.
26
@hmxr715 I love Boris he's like the human form of a shiver looking for a spine to run up. Born with a silver foot in his mouth, has the backbone of a chocolate eclair and all the charisma of a used tissue. Loves nature in spite of what it did to him. The only man after selling his soul to get a refund... in roubles :)
26
Ethics advisor? lol, you're 'aving a laugh! Boris and his mates don't even know what the word 'ethics' means. Having said that, they don't know the meaning of most words...
26
@EricaNernie I'm so pleased to hear that, learning is growing. On a serious note. Money is simply a human construct that allows a tiny minority to control the majority of the world's 'actual' resources. There are only two actual resources - Human beings and the Planet (Vegetable, Animal, Mineral) and these are exploited to the detriment of the species and the near extinction of the human race and the ecosystems we rely on to survive. We are communal animals, social animals we can't survive without each other. No matter how much wealth we have we are still reliant on people growing our food, maintaining our machinery/tools, cleaning our environment, healing our ailments and a functional ecosystem to provide us with oxygen. Allowing the ego to convince us we are special or some sort of demi-god because we own a successful corporation is a mental ailment. The more resources we use the more we rely on the exploitation of child labour, sweatshops and poverty wages.
25
As Jonathan Pie said in his recent video, Godwin's law is often overused but not in this case. It's not just the media either, check recent legislation for a plethora of examples.
25
@derekmulready1523 Conservative Unionist Nationalist Troglodyte Society, surprisingly they don't use the acronym...
24
@abbofun9022 Reminds me of a quote that suits my views on working-class Tories: Blackadder: "Give the likes of Baldrick the vote and we'll be back to cavorting druids, death by stoning and dung for dinner."
24
How did we get here? Capitalism. What should be done? compensation to customers. What should have been done? Government should have stepped in and done a lot more, far sooner.
23
It's a great way to increase profits for wealthy shareholders who can then send the money to an offshore account and will certainly reduce the number of people on welfare, imagine how many pensioners will be seen off by a cold snap this winter. Actually probably not just pensioners with today's prices, this winter is going to be very bad for many of us. Imagine the difference a nice log fire would make. Oh, that's right only country cottages have chimneys these days. Most council estates don't have them or they've been blocked up for decades. Even cavemen could build a fire to keep warm...
22
Well, you make me feel like a pony, Mone-y, Mone-y... Tip of the iceberg, yet the Tories will be happy to throw her under the bus and act all surprised to cover up their own guilt...
22
lol mate, at least shopping trolleys occasionally go in the right direction :)
20
From the days of Churchill sending gunboats up the Mersey, Thatcher's destruction of Northern industry to the Brexit fallout. Tories always do their utmost to help the North. Such wonderful philanthropic humanitarians with a real love of the North...
20
@hmxr715 I understand that the wealthy are very, very special and deserve every luxury my poverty and discomfort can provide them :)
20
I think that's part of the qualifying procedure.
20
So cold was the day, Tory minister I saw. Hands in own pockets...
