  7.  @erkergul  the 20mm gun carried no tracer rounds, the 37mm was the only AA gun on Bismarck that only used tracer rounds, the 40mm did can carry tracer rounds but I still haven't found any indication that Bismarck used tracer rounds with her fight with the Swordfishes. The 20mm muzzle velocity depending on what shell you use is 800 or 835 miles per second which is faster than the speed of sound, at that speed the 20mm shell can always pass through the stretched fabric of the Swordfishes. The German AA guns were not calibrated to track such slow planes like the Swordfishes

  12. As the other comment have pointed out, Plate is an old British term for gold or silver. The name just stuck. That's why it's known as the Battle of the River Plate. The literal translation, Silver River, is hardly ever used in English.

  17. Them having aircraft carriers won't change anything too much, the only reason the natural aircraft carrier sucked so much was because of the abysmal air to naval coordination, if they actually worked together correctly then they wouldn't need aircraft carriers

  20. Because the Regia Aeronautica (Italian Royal Airforce) and the Regia Marina(Italian Royal Navy) didn't have the best relationship and as the comment said their coordination sucks.

  21.  @Wisecrackerist  No, the Regia Marina fully knows the importance of radar and actually there was a radar equipped Italian ship that was the Italian light cruiser Attilio Regolo equipped with Italian radar Ec3 ter 1943. And it was Mussolini who decreed that Radar wasn't needed and ordered all development on it stopped that's why they had little radar on their ships. And also they didn't fail to implement the Radar, if it wasn't for Mussolini and the budget cuts then they would have developed and implemented Radar much sooner. All of the them knew the importance of technology except for Mussolini who jeopardized the chances of them actually winning because apparently he's the most stupidest military strategist ever

  28. The Pocket Battleships(Not a real designation by the way) are easily be defeated by a weaker force like a group Cruisers and building more Cruisers are much more useful than building Panzerschiffes since you get the more ships for a cheaper price

The Anti-aircraft crew of PoW was adequate enough, what failed them was their equipment, PoW's main anti-aircraft radar was knocked down due to the hot weather of the Pacific and it's electric malfunctioning due to the same reason, meaning PoW can't even target the planes properly and also could not even traverse most of it's anti-aircraft batteries. By this point the Anti-aircraft crew might as well throws rocks at Japanese planes have much more chance to knock it down

  40. Not really 1.) They only sent 2 ships because PoW and Repulse were not there to fight but to act as a deterrent 2.) There was no surprise attack, the British knew exactly that going anywhere near there will attract the Japanese planes and most likely attack them. Admiral Tom Phillips pretty much disregarded the threat of the Japanese and did not accept the extra Air support offered by the RAF which doomed them 3.) Just because a Battleship gets doomed by aircraft doesn't mean it has automatically be related to Bismarck.

  41. Both of those British ships are no where near the same as Yamato, For one PoW and Repulse were sent there to act only as deterrent unlike Yamato who was sent on a suicide mission. And for two PoW despite much of it's anti-aircraft batteries disabled due to the tropic weather and Repulse being an old ship still managed to shot down and damaged more aircraft than Yamato could
