  33.  @Henry-xu5jg  it’s a lot easier to find someone to make stuff for you than finding someone to buy the stuff you make. Mongolia can’t feed China. Even the entirety of American food exports —the US being by far the largest food exporter in the world—, couldn’t supply China with all the food they need in a famine. China is very oil poor for its population size, which is why it imports so much from the Middle East. As for coal, they have a fair amount, but they’re choking to death on its smoke.

  34. jurisprudens, I’m not saying there aren’t downsides. Other options like mirrors make you more noticeable and wouldn’t have much of an effect. Heat resistant tiles are too expensive and really fragile. Also, ablative coatings can be applied without too much modification to equipment.

  36. Yaponnk, putting a carrier with temporary repairs into battle. Also, a number of those aircraft attacks were pretty daring. Just knowing the Japanese were going to attack Midway doesn’t mean there was nothing daring about how the US fiught the battle. You really need to learn some more history. At the start of WW2 Germany and Japan had more powerful militaries than the US. Throughout US history we’ve fought more powerful enemies.
