  7. Tomatoes £5 a kilo, electricity (40 p a unit here in Sweden) and gas prices sky high, shortages of eggs. Perhaps TLDR should be looking more closely at what is happening at our own local shops. The Green Energy fetish is also taking its toll. Do they mean budget surplus or balance of payments surplus? Does TLDR know the difference?

  12. Eastern Poland was absorbed into the Soviet Union, mostly now Western Ukraine. Western Poland was previously part of Germany. The postwar Poland was not subsumed into the Soviet Union. GDP figures mask a great difference between the east and west sides of the country. The west thrives but tbe east is blocked off from its natural trading links outside the EU.

  37. Ukraine's Six languages and four religions make a real country like Yugoslavia was a real country, unless it is organised on a cantonal system like Switzerland. It was an accident waiting to happen. The EU's protected Single Market was also an obstacle to a successful structure, as the British have discovered in Northern Ireland. It is a good example of the old saying "if goods don't cross borders, soldiers will". But the invasion means that Putin's objective will never be achieved, and Putin himself is unlikely to last much longer.

  38. Large scale migration to Sweden has been a social and economic disaster. None of the arguments put forward carry much weight. Unemployment is around double the official figure, with school leavers, newly qualified and over-50s being particularly badly hit. This makes nonsense of the demographic argument. The moral argument collapses in the light of experience: refugees import the conflict they are fleeing from. Then there is the M issue which must not be mentioned.

We should have been pressing for a cease fire and providing facilities for negotiations eg a nice comfortable hotel with security, in the Stockholm skärgård. Erdogan is doing us a favour. Ukraine is a poor choice of ally, given its corrupt government, evident instability, artificial frontiers, and inability to get to grips with the chronic poverty which is endemic there. NATO was established to counter the real threat of expansionist communism, driven by Soviet Russia. Perhaps you can explain what relevance NATO had after 1989? The CO2 theory of climate change is grounded on the assumption that molecules of carbon dioxide can absorb infra red radiation. Any first year chemistry undergraduate should have learned about quantum theory and infra red absorption spectra. CO2 absorbs about 10% of infrared radiation - about 90% passes through, assuming that all the radiation that could be captured actually was captured. The same capture also limits the radiation reaching the surface in the first place. All the CO2 in the atmosphere would form a layer less than 4 metres thick. If the climate is changing due to human action, the cause is something else. Put another way, if CO2 emissions were drastically cut, the problem would continue. Don't you think that is something to be concerned about?
