  1. Lei, I am extremely impressed with your videos. They are informative and well researched. You have an educated, or scholarly, way of presenting your information. Have you taught at a University ever?? Would you consider doing that?? If you did, I would love to take any of your courses. As it is said in academic circles, "you know your s**t." Well, maybe they don't say it quite like that.

  3. Trump can be influenced and manipulated with flattery. Putin has shown that. Trump's "anti-China" stance, IMO, is very thin. It is not fundamental to his thinking, unlike Biden's opposition to both China and Putin, which came from very deep ideas about human rights, and how the future world needs to function. I do not trust Trump to side with Taiwan when the showdown comes.

  4. Lei, I would like to get your response to my contention. I contend that the PLA and the CCP too often believe their own propaganda. They state so often how strong they are, and how weak Taiwan is, that I think many in the top ranks actually believe that. No matter reality. We may look at what is. That is not important. We must understand what Xi and the CCP believe to be true. If they believe that China is strong, and that their soldiers are powerful, then an invasion attempt of Taiwan may be quite likely. What do you think?

He already said that China does not have the power to invade, so China could only sit there and watch as Taiwan sunk its ships. I think China better think again.

  14. I can see no benefit to anyone for deliberately starting these fires. So, I was ready to dismiss this report from the start. But, I watched and listened. You calmly laid out what happened, and the timings of the fires & explosions. Your description makes it difficult to dismiss the conclusion that they were deliberately set.

  16. Lei, I really like your shorter videos 10-15 minutes long. You have been doing a lot of long 60 minute videos. I find myself not watching those because they are too long for the time I have available. Shorter videos can fit into my day almost anytime. I want the detail of the longer ones, though. Can you divide them up into shorter videos, like you did with this topic?? I would love that.

If by American Patriots you mean the disloyal traitors that support Trump and attack our Capitol, and try to assassinate our leaders, then you are right. Those "American Patriots" are neither American nor are they true patriots. True patriots are willing to die for our country, not kill our own people. Personally, I have found that when I screwed up and hurt people, that apologizing was a good thing to do. When you recognize your own screw up, and admit you were wrong, I have found most people to be quite forgiving. So, when nations do that, I think they should do the same. Does that sound right to you?

  22. Last point about a war with Taiwan.... Unless China achieves a quick victory, the war will turn into a war of attrition. Remember, China needs complete victory to win. For Taiwan to win, it merely needs to prevent a Chinese conquest. That is a huge difference. What will China do if does not conquer in 6 months?? or after one year?? 2 years?? How long would China be willing to maintain a war with Taiwan?? With a total blockade, how long can it sustain the fight?? China will lose. The CCP will lose.

  25. You said the key statement, "China is not to be trusted". Yet, an Exchange or Market relies on trust. Without trust a market will disappear. Buyers and sellers will move to another. I am sure metals can be bought in other exchanges, in New York, Chicago, Tokyo, Frankfurt, or someplace else.

Besides, 2500 years of imperial rule and culture, with no advancement in governmental institutions says very little about Chinese "culture". They don't know how to behave in a civil manner. They have not even learned to apologize. I remember teaching my daughter that when she was about 3 or 4. The Chinese cannot apologize because to them its "losing face". How ignorant and childish.

  29. Lei, am I right about this ? ------ Xi and the CCP have created a system similar to the system of Imperial China. They look at China as the Middle Kingdom, around which all countries should defer. Government is sort of centralized, with each province self governing under the rules and interests of the central government. They rule by decree. Decrees may change or supersede written laws, same as Imperial China. Most of all, though, is that the CCP has established itself as a new aristocracy, with special privileges and benefits. Does this explain the huge gap in wealth distribution?? Wealth distribution is similar to a feudal system, where aristocrats hold all wealth and power. What do you think?? Thanks.

  31. China has concerns. China's problems, though, is that Xi and the CCP's belligerence and threats of war, make those concerns a palpable reality. For instance, it has concerns that an enemy may shut off the Malacca Strait for China's importing oil. But, is making enemies, and if it starts a war, that will likely happen. Everyone would like to sell to China. But China has weaponized that against Australia. Seeing that, won't other countries be less eager to rely on China's continued purchase of their foods?? Seems to me that all these fears would not exist.... IF China was friendly and cooperative. That won't happen.

  32. Wars are often engines of change within countries. Germany & Japan would never have embraced democracy and market economies if they had not lost the wars they started. The Thirty Years War changed western Europe fundamentally. Religion was eliminated from being part of governmental institutions. For instance, in 1600, the Archbishop of Canterbury was a powerful political position in England. By 1700, it is irrelevant. In 1600, the Pope was a major European force. By 1700, the Pope is irrelevant. IF China starts a war, even deeply held beliefs and attitudes may change profoundly. Support for the CCP, or anything like it, may change, especially if China loses. AND, China will LOSE if it attacks Taiwan. Amphibious assaults are very difficult. What can China do to prevent Taiwan from turning Taiwan Strait into a killing zone of the Chinese invasion fleet?? Missiles alone can sink the fleet. Torpedoes alone can sink the fleet. Mines alone can sink a large portion of the fleet. Shore based artillery can sink a large portion of the fleet. China can destroy much of Taiwan, that is certain. BUT, how can it prevent the total destruction of its invasion fleet???

  33. Countries do not let down their guard because a threat becomes usual and typical. Look at the US. The Soviet Union threatened us many times with their planes and ships. All that did was keep us alert, and well practiced. China's constant challenges to Taiwan's air defenses will not tire Taiwan out. It will train their pilots, in fact. It won't wear out Taiwan's equipment, because they have the funds to perform maintenance. In fact, China's efforts will hurt China more -- since its jets have to fly farther, and its jet engines don't last as long. China will have to replace a lot more jet engines than Taiwan.

  34. America's policy since President Carter of Strategic Ambiguity regarding Taiwan has resulted in a lack of trust in America by Taiwanese -- and that is understandable. I doubt US will need to send troops to Taiwan if China attacks. 1. Taiwan has the missiles and mines to make the Taiwan Strait a killing zone for an invasion fleet. 2. I do think US will break any blcokade China tries to iimpose. 3. China will get the same severe sanctions that Russia has gotten ---- which is worth more than armies, IMO. 4. I doubt Japan will send troops to Taiwan. 5. HOWEVER, both US & Japan will assist Taiwan with satellite and other reconnaissance. 6. US is selling Taiwan all kinds of weapons that were NOT sold to Ukraine. 7. The Russo-Ukraine War has altered the West's thinking. US, EU, and UK are no longer going to try to involve Russia and China in World Commerce with the assumption that that will slowly liberalize and democratize them. 8. China, like Russia, will find itself slowly isolated, or at least greatly diminished in world trade. World supply chains will change to be less dependent on China. China will lose the ability to extort or blackmail countries using trade.

  39. I believe Chinese corruption has a long history through the many empires of China. The rules in that letter would have applied the same for a magistrate in the Qing Empire. Those 8 rules show that the corruption is not only systemic, it is cultural. Being cultural, it cannot be easily eliminated. The attitudes and behaviors of corruption run very deep.

  40. IMO, China suffers from a culture of corruption inherited from Imperial practices. Emperors always let ministers do what they wanted, as long as they followed the will of the Emperor. They were not constrained by laws, rules, or regulations. Oversight was mostly non-existent. Positions were bought. If a person needed a minister to do his job, they had to give a gift (bribe) to get them to do anything. I believe it is the same today. I do not believe that the concept of "public servant" exists in China. I think anyone who does not milk their position for as much as possible is seen as a fool. This one deficiency of China will cause its downfall. When China crashes, it will crash hard. Hundreds of millions will die. Central rule will collapse. China will fragment into smaller states.

China's wolf warrior diplomacy, and fishing fleet aggression, has been deemed so successful, that Xi and CCP are deploying it now against Malaysia and Indonesia. Relations between Malaysia and Indonesia with the US have been good, but neither would be described as allies of the US, I believe. With Chinese aggression, trying to stop oil exploration in their EEZ waters, I think both countries will look to US, the Quad, and AUKUS for protection. As China flexes it muscles, US gets stronger. Isn't that interesting???

  44. By 2050, or 2060 at the latest, China will have taken Siberia. Probably all the way to the Urals. China wants the resources, and has the men, money, and machines to exploit them. Meanwhile, Putin is weakening Russia. Russia won't have the energy to resist China. Russia will be too tired and aged to resist.

  45. Africa has been dealing colonization and the threat of colonization for 500 years. Don't you think that they know how to handle China?? China is very new to the colonization game. And, they are very bad at it. 1. Colonization can ONLY be done with force, or the threat of force. 2. China cannot impose military force on ANY African country. First, it is too far away, and does not have the right kind of navy to impose its will. Secondly, US & EU won't allow China to use its army in Africa unopposed. 3. African countries know how to play the money game -- better than China. Will they take China's money?? You betcha. Will they pay it back?? Doubtful. Why would they?? African countries have denied their debts many times. But, they will thank China for the infrastructure. BTW.. That is how the US got much of its railroad infrastructure in the 1800's. British money men would invest in US railroads. They would go bankrupt. BUT --- track had been laid, bridges built, and rolling stock acquired. They would become the assets of a follow on AMERICAN railroad. UK guys were taken to the cleaners several times.

  46. @_____ Agreed. Good points. The ASEAN nations have leg up, that is for sure. However, I still would not be surprised that Africa and South America get a bit of it. South America is close to the US market. Columbia, especially could be a good candidate. In Africa, some nations are stable, and I believe could be good places. Ghana Is good, and Kenya, I think. The Saharan nations are horrible. Definitely agree with you on that.

  47. @_____ You are very correct. SA countries got their independence only about 20 years after US was founded with its Constitution. Yet, look at how far behind they are. I was just speaking of potential. Manufacturers are looking for new homes. SA has the advantage of being close to the American market. In the past, garments were imported from Columbia, for instance. I remain hopeful for South America. But, not optimistic.

The ASEAN nations are all inheritors of autocratic governments and culture. Yet, they are able to adapt to the global system. I would think that one or two of them could break from their past. But, nope. Venezuela should be the richest of them all. Yet, it is the most screwed up. Land locked Bolivia is better off. I think it goes beyond the political culture and to the culture itself. They hold themselves back, and then blame the United States for their problems and failures.

  49. Any country doing what Xi is doing to China would be an act of war. The enemies of China cheer Xi on. Xi is doing more to destroy China's wealth and power than anyone could have hoped for. Xi talks about building its military power. BUT -- that takes money. AND - money comes from a strong large economy. It was China's large economy that enabled the ships, planes, and missiles for a modern military. Well, that economy is now crashing. US and others are taking away China's exports. Recently, most things we bought were made in China. If you notice, more of the things are now made in other countries. Manufacturers are moving out of China faster and faster. Soon, very little will be made there.

  50. Why do authoritarian rulers keep thinking democracies and democratic people are weak, and lack courage?? Can they not read? Can they not learn from history?? The most ruthless colonizers were democratic countries. The victors of the World Wars were democracies. The ones who fire bombed Dresden and Tokyo were democracies. If they think that we cannot kill by the millions, they are wrong. We not only can kill by the millions ---- we can do it without a second thought, and feel good and righteous doing it. If the CCP counts on us being reluctant to kill, they really don't know us.
