Another clarification --- Vietnam & Philippines do have differing claims on their EEZ rights. EEZ rights are designated by the UN, and arbitrated by the UN. Both Vietnam and Philippines will abide by UN rulings on their EEZ rights. China claims FULL SOVEREIGNTY, not EEZ rights.

As Chine extorts money, it forces businesses to close and unemployment. Poverty spreads. Misery spreads. The population will be thrust into destitution.

@powershift2025 I doubt it is a coincidence that the HF-2e missile has a range of 1200 km, the distance needed to reach the dam.
3
China is treating foreigners of all kinds (tourists, businessmen, journalists, etc.) with increasing harshness. Not only rude and unfriendly, but also arresting and charging with crimes. The new "national security" law enables China to arrest anyone for doing almost anything. Such an accusation could result in a very long jail sentence in a very harsh prison. Anyone without diplomatic immunity who goes to China is a fool, IMO.
3
This is silly. Any invasion of Taiwan would require an invasion fleet. Such a fleet would be easily seen, and thus known. The PLA could march around all they want, they cannot invade without a fleet. IF China tries such a thing, they would have to survive the thousands of anti-ship and anti-air missiles that Taiwan has. It would be a blood bath, with most of the blood being PLA blood.

Tofu is water soluble. That explains the water leakage of the tofu carriers.
3
Ok, so why is Xi bullying and threatening everyone. Does Xi think that a war would help?? CCP policies don't make sense.
3
@indiasuperclean6969 Good to hear. It is not what I read, though. Women complain of rapists not being prosecuted. The low caste untouchables are treated poorly, and there is a problem of people defecating publicly due to no toilet facilities. Glad to hear that it is nice where you live. That is good.

Companies should transfer investments to other countries where growth is more likely. India, Vietnam, Mexico, Philippines, Kenya, and most other places are much better. Growth and profits are more likely. Moreover, other countries follow international law, so contracts will be honored. Even if a company has to suffer a large loss, IMO, it would still be the better move.

Or, considering the history of VW, it is understandable how VW agreed and maybe welcomed those terms.
3
@leogonazalez9988 NOPE. the Korean war started in 1950, and ended Jul 27, 1953. Eisenhower was president only for the last 6 months of the war. You are right about Gulf War, and invasion of Iraq. The Gulf War was necessary. The Iraq War will go down as a mistake, IMO.
3
@skg30767 If so, doesn't that imply it is a bot?? That means I replied to a bot. Damn.

And, another one is gone. Another one bites the dust. Dum Dum Dum Another one bites the dust.

"Hitting rock bottom" is optimistic. Housing prices will fall a LOT more. The export economy is collapsing. Unemployment is surging. And these are permanent conditions. So, real estate will not come back for decades.
2
@NuclearSunshine Yep. The tofu dreg construction in China hits everything. Its so bad, the initial construction falls apart. It cannot be maintained, but needs to be totally rebuilt -- which won't happen.
2
@mrdojob Built of stone?? Stone buildings from ancient Rome, Athens, and Egypt are still being used from thousands of years ago. China once built things to last. No more.
2
LOL 10Y?? Isn't that worth about $2 ??? Not enough, IMO.
2
A good thing about China have an economic meltdown, is that it may focus on internal needs, and stop its bullying and adventurism. On the other hand...... Hitler and Mussolini came out of the depression in Germany and Italy in the 30's. Could an economic collapse in China, make the CCP even more authoritarian, and more powerful?? Scary thought.
2
India's bases in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands means India can enforce a blockade of the Malacca strait without carriers. For India, carriers can do other duties, if needed.
2
@happyhappynuts All countries always have problems. China's problems are different. China is undergoing profound change that will impoverish and weaken it for a generation or more. Other nations are just experiencing the normal ups and downs of economies.
2
The fact that CCP officials own Evergrande, and collect money from Evergrande is going to make it worse. Much worse. The CCP protects itself, not the common Chinese citizen.
2
I wonder how far China will collapse when it hits the bottom?? How low will it go??
2
Companies are leaving China because of the conditions China created. US government has little to do with it. Companies HATE risk. It raises costs, and decreases profits. When Xi threatens war, he increases perceived risk. No one will want to be in China when China starts a war. So, they are leaving now.
2
So many ways, and so many reasons to falsely report higher population data. The mystery really is why the exaggeration is so small. Why not 1.5 billion, or 2.0 billion, or 3.0 billion?? So, what is the population of China??
2
In case of China starting a war with Taiwan, China will be cut off from the world. No exports. No imports. No financial or banking transactions. China's economy will collapse quickly. Note: Russia's economy was NOT export oriented, so it was somewhat insulated from financial and trade sanctions. Not so, China.
2
Blame Xi and the CCP for declaring war on the world in so many ways. We don't want stuff from China. 15 years ago, we couldn't get enough of your stuff. Not anymore.
2
I wonder if China can continue its aggressive navel buildup?? I doubt it.
2
@jujupants2486 US is bringing back SOME manufacturing. Most is being distributed to other countries. I think (hope) that they have learned their lesson about relying to much on one country.
2
Despite all evidence to the contrary, China reports growth in its GDP. Anyone who believes China's economic numbers is a world class idiot. (That does include the UN, since they accept China's numbers with no question.)
2
Can anything stop China from returning to the state of poverty and desperation it had in the 1960s?? I don't think so. Now that the Chinese have tasted middle class life, will they once again accept poverty?? I bet not.
2
Either way, a military dictatorship is coming, if it isn't already in place.
2
How pathetic. China can never hope to lead the world. Who would follow those idiots.
2
Excellent. ALL war games of China invading Taiwan show US defending and Taiwan doing nothing. Which is absurd. I am glad to see an analysis of Taiwan's missiles. They are impressive.
2
@icosthop9998 Ooh. That's cold. 😃😃
2
The Midwest moved to finance and services. I dont think China will be able to replace it.
2
You mean "Philippines - Province of China"??
2
@Spirit451 Germany taxes companies at a higher rate than in the US. Same with the other countries in the EU. Yet, they do OK with manufacturing.
2
It seems Xi had no idea that this could happen. Did Xi feel he could abuse foreigners without any repercussions? This is the new normal. Tourism and ex-pats are not coming back.
2
@cherylpringle3397 Interesting family history. Many people hated the banks, because they foreclosed on so many farms, businesses, and homes. In fact, bank robbers, like Pretty Boy Floyd and John Dillinger would often be sheltered and protected because of that. Although, I am not sure what the point of your post was.
2
This reminds me of the time when Mao took over, when the CCP attacked the middle class landowners and farmers. Or the 30's, when Stalin destroyed the landowners in Russia and Ukraine. Is the CCP using Covid to destroy the Chinese middle class?? Makes no sense, but that is what it looks like to me.
2
China is at war with itself. What idiots.
2
China has not advanced much in 4000 years. Yech
2
I was going to comment. But, I cannot think of anything that adds to this. I cannot even think of anything funny to say, for this is too funny at the start. It does show, though, that the anti-science movement is worldwide, and is not limited to America, the Trumpers, and the Tea Party.
2
@namenameson9065 But its a Utopia. Right?? CCP says so. And they never lie.
2
EV stands for Electric Vehicle -- NOT - Energy Vehicle. Do you have any idea what you are talking about??
2
China under the CCP will never become a well functioning country. They don't understand how their policies of oppression and abuse destroy China's chances of being successful. The progress China made in past 40 years was because they allowed freedom and honored contracts for that time. However, Xi and the CCP has decided to stop that and go back to the ways of Mao.
2
Using proxy measures, China's population has been estimated to be between 800 million and 1,250 million. Yi Fuxian's estimate is the higher limit. Other estimates reliably put China's population at under 1 billion already. China's population collapse will continue.
2
Do you mean Donald Trump, or Xi??? I am confused.
2
Meanwhile, China's Navy, Army, and Air Force bully and threaten other countries. Xi and the CCP talk tough. The world does not need China.
2
No sympathy. China has been doing this all the time. This is what China does.
