  3. If it was just the debt bubble or economic cycles, Shanghai and China would muddle through and be OK. Just like Japan of the 80's, or other recessions around the world. B U T --- China's export economy is dying because China threatens ALL its neighbors and trade partners with war. ALL countries are doing what they can to diminish trade ties with China. Its export economy has brought wealth to China. Now its trade war with the world will bring poverty back to China. Well, it is what the CCP wanted.

  5. The problem with your analysis is that it uses Chinese official stats -- which we know are fictitious. Next, you focus solely on the COVID policy, when there are other factors. The bursting of the real estate bubble, IMO, is a much bigger problem, The majority of the wealth of Chinese citizens is in real estate. That wealth is being lost. Family wealth accumulated over the past few decades is disappearing. There is also the CCP war on the wealthy. Successful businessmen are targeted. Their ability to run their companies and be successful is attacked. It is the heavy hand of the CCP on top of all these issues that creates the Chinese economic disaster. It is NOT part of any economic cycle or temporary condition.

  10. China's economy requires access to markets and buyers. BUT --- China's threats destroys its access to those markets. Exports to US, EU, UK, Australia, and Canada are plummeting. China is destroying its own wealth.

  13. China decided to decouple from the world. Westerners are demonized, arrested, and shunned. Western companies that invested in China were abused, so they left. Foreign companies brought capital, jobs, and consumption. They rented huge amounts of office space, which now lies empty. China wanted to separate itself from the world. This is what it gets. We barbaric foreigners don't care what happens to China or its people.

The Chinese people may become destitute and homeless, and they may starve and die, but, we can all rest easy knowing that the Communist overlords will be safe, cozy, and well fed in their mansions.   26. When China was agrarian, its people were farmers. Farmers could grow their own food, and survive. Food and shelter were basic, but accessible. Now, China is urbanized. Living requires money, actual money. Money for an apartment, and money for food, at the very least. As China sinks into deep poverty, young people will suffer the most. They don't know how to live in poverty. They cannot grow food. They cannot sew and make their own clothes. The youth were told - get a degree, and jobs will be there for you. Jobs are not there. Chinese youth are lost, and sinking into despair. The weak will kill themselves. The strong will get angry. What will the CCP do with with that anger?

To assume the Nobel committee can be directed by the Norwegian government is so ignorant. Just as China assumes that Canada's government can interfere with court proceedings to free the Huawei executive.

  28. How can China expect its export/import trade to thrive when China threatens war with the world?? 10 years ago, I was OK buying things made in China. Now??? I won't touch them, if I have a choice. I sell solar energy systems. I have to reassure my clients that nothing in them come from China. People hate China now. Good job Xi. Keep up the good work.

  30. @sweden_is_xxxx Insurance is required for ALL property under mortgage. Few people own their homes outright. Those that do can usually afford insurance.

  36. The shrinkage of China's GDP will mean less revenue to the CCP. Less revenue to the PLA and the PLAN. This shrinking of China's economy should mean that it won't have the money to spend on expanding its navy and air force, as it had planned. So, either Xi will give up invading Taiwan....OR .... Will invade NOW while it still has the resources.

A tragedy in US - the president shows up (okay, maybe not Trump. but anyone else would) A tragedy in Australia -- the PM shows up. A tragedy in England - the PM shows up. A tragedy in India - Modi shows up. Damn, even Russia - Putin would show up, even though that is not a democratic country. The CCP and Xi are just real odd ducks. They don't behave in any normal way. Maybe, Xi is acting like an emperor, and the CCP is like the court Eunuchs. When disasters hit China in Imperial times, the Emperor nor the court eunuchs would go to disaster areas. Worst of all, American businesses no longer trust China. Executives even fear visiting China for fear of being arrested and imprisoned.
