  2. Poilievre needs to win a minority government, the public needs to be forced to listen to his nightly "charm" . PP will also be forced to negotiate with other parties on a new Trade agreement with Trump instead of acting like the little dictator he would love to be. That way PP will own the inevitable blowback from the downturn that's coming regardless of who is elected. Otherwise, he's eventually going to get a majority government which will be very bad for Canada as PP is going to prioritize oil that represents less than 10% of our economy over absolutely everything else because that's where who his donors are. At least in a minority government his damage would be limited and it wouldn't take long for Canadians to want to get rid of him.  The system works

  3. Well, let's remember that Harper fought the Toronto G20 Summit case (the most arrests of protestors, EVER) against his government's abuse of power and eventually lost to the tune of 16 million. I'm glad the court rejected the Liberals abuse of power as well because I know once one Party gets away with it, both parties will abuse it again once they get back in power. The system works.

  9. There's no group of people more than hockey players that I would think are capable of rape BUT unfortunately, without hard evidence, it's not fair to convict people on hearsay. We need to teach all young people and old that if you are assaulted you need to go immediately to the police. Anything short of that leaves you open to accusations of anything that would undermine your case and more broadly undermines the case of others because it leaves too many open questions. It's super sad that it's come to this, but anything short of evidence-based convictions leaves the justice system open to abuse by people who genuinely regret decisions they made and or malicious actors on either side. I'm sure many deaths of despair and suicide as a result of Mulroney's deal to sell out Canadian workers. Sadly, the fact is that both parties in our corporate duopoly have vested interests in China that remain undisclosed but I would say the fact that both voted for the anti-worker FIPA China trade agreement in 2012 says everything about what both parties want (corporate hegemony over workers under the guise of national trade). PP can make all the political hay he wants out of this but you can rest assured that he would do pretty much the same f**** thing with China as his party also prefers corporations over people. Just look at Polllievere's colleague in the conservative's last government John Baird who went to a literal gold mine and Chinese billionaires office after serving as foreign Minister.   33. Listening to Trudeau makes my skin crawl, however, I've never been a fan of the conservatives either as I remember the Harper government. They gave some upper class tax cuts for soccer mom's, petty cruelty service cuts to the elderly, disabled and veterans (& of course the usual losers but that just makes them break into my stuff more) So I'm curious as to what you think electing a conservative government will do specifically for Us? As far as I know, everyone making less than $100,000 gets a carbon CHQ (I make over the cutoff so I have never seen a check. I'll actually get a tax break), once the cons are elected people won't get that anymore as the cons have said they're going to end many programs and they're going to slash government spending which generally means that you will be paying more for services while also not receiving the carbon chq anymore either? So just in terms of a day-to-day quality of life situation, what do you actually expect will be the difference? I know Pierre said he'd make it possible to buy a home in Vancouver where I live by "stopping the gatekeepers" which sounds cool of course cuz who doesn't want that but it doesn't actually make any sense as it doesn't say how? I mean do you think Pierre is having homeless veterans put into the house next to his place LOL!? I get hating Trudeau is enjoyable cuz he really sucks bad but I just don't see how the conservatives are any different? Pierre Poillevre was in government for almost 10 years and didn't deal with any of this except deregulation of oil and gas industry that allows the pollution of rivers and lakes which is fine I guess but that's less than 10% of the economy?(*Over 70% of major shareholders in Canada's largest oil companies are foreign so most money leaves Canada) Great for his donors I suppose but even when they did it last time housing still went up almost 50% on his and Harper's watch?   36. The BoC along with the USA Fed, the conservatives and the Liberals want to cause a recession through rate hikes. This serves a few goals of the ultra wealthy who control us and our governments. First and easiest is increasing rates immediately makes banks and the financial services industry more money (record profits across all industries). Secondly, mortgage rates going up price out average Canadians out of the housing market but also create bankruptcies that allows the corporations to buy up housing cheaply while simultaneously raising rent. As a result it brings us to our 3rd point; rate increases kills small businesses which drives up unemployment that forces wages down for Corporations and diminishes union power. People who can't pay for gas to get to their low paying jobs don't demand raises or better working conditions. The system works but for who?
