The more worrying figures were for the Mayoral Police and Crime Commissioner Precept and the Mayoral General Precept (Including Fire Services) which went up by 6.6% and 4.9% respectively.   27. In Walkden, Manchester, the police closed a major route through the area on Sunday night. Their excuse was that there had been a 'major accident ' at the scene, a claim backed up by the Manchester Evening News, yet there was no visible evidence of any such 'accident' (broken glass, shards of plastic or metal, no skid marks or other marks in the road surface!) Another local newspaper attributed the closure due to a 'sewer collapse' but again there was no sign of any remedial work having been done to the road surface. Somebody is lying and it's not the guy who took video of the road at the time (Charlie Vietch) and published it on YouTube!

  34. Back in the 1960s, I attended a Grammar School in East London. All the students were 99% white with a few Jews and a Malaysian lad. Not even a 'mixed race' face amongst them. At the turn of the millennium I happened to pass the very same school just as the kids were going home and there were 0% white faces in the students! In 40 years or so the local population had gone from predominantly white to predominantly black or brown and turned the whole demographic of the area upsidedown. No wonder Khan was elected!
