@dominicgilmartin5943 The council will have to arrange a special meeting to which every councillor will have to attend first but considering their sky high salaries, they are, as often or not, on extended holiday or 'business' junkets to some far flung place, so it will be at least a year before they get round to holding it. Once convened the meeting will discuss the problem and after a few hours (days) come to the conclusion that a specialist firm will be needed to collect the asbestos waste carefully and safely. After more discussion (months) they will put the contract out to tender to at least three firms capable of doing the job then after more discussion (years) select the company, not by the lowest bid but by the connection to 'councillor X' who's brother, wife, son, daughter happens to run a company that can deal with it although it will cost far more than the highest bid of legitimate companies. Then 'councillor X's' brother, wife, son or daughter will send round a tipper van with a couple of dodgy looking guys to collect the asbestos just using shovels and brooms to clear it without any protective equipment or bagging up the stuff. This will probably be then driven into the neighbouring council area and fly tipped on their land or even to a land fill site for disposal. Don't tell me it doesn't happen, we know it does!
