Japan also tests at lower rates than other developed countries. Something you don't know about
1
Way lower

Isn't the case with delta variant in Europe though, eg (UK cases surged, declined slightly then stuck at high plateau), Central Europe, Ireland, Low countries(cases rose, then plateaued at moderate levels before skyrocketing)

People congregate inside under AC and being inside increases transmission

Many European countries with similar vaccination Japan is seeing much greater infection rate. And this is on top of natural immunity rates being much higher in Europe than Japan too

don't forget, high population density with crowded trains + no masks=nyc in march and early april, when usa recommended against masks and few wore them, even in nyc. Densely populated nyc recorded over 800 deaths a day, more than tokyo since the start. NY was one of first places in US to introduce mask mandate, and has highest compliance rate, now they have one of lowest infections in USA despite high population density. If tokyo was like sweden. I'm pretty sure its gonna have colossal death toll

Plus the fact that major cities have younger population than other parts of the country, and this is a disease where death risk goes up exponentially by age
1
Cutieplus still, japan did so much better than western countries

No, it's not. It's due to the heat driving people indoors. It surges in southern states regardless if it's popular for vacation, like AL, MS, OK, AR, also sees huge summer surge despite not being that popular for summer vacation

Islands doing well? Well UK is an island and they're doing very badly
1
Rate varies wildly between state and city. In nyc, there’s hardly anyone not wearing mask. In Dakotas and Wyoming, most people don’t wear masks
1
lol, japan is literally known for its nightlife. Every night, tons of young people going out at night to socialize

@salem9477 USA also has high proportion of population that came from hotter climate zones, from the blacks originally brought in as slaves from Africa, to the more recent immigrants from variety of tropical countries, and they often get vitamin D deficiency due to being in unsuitable climate and their bodies being less efficient at converting sunlight into vitamin D compared to people from colder climate zones
1
Unrelated topic. I’ve heard that in the US, rural people tend to be strongly against single payer
