I want to know if there was any beneficial effect, or harmful effect, or if we simply cannot say. Where is the normal curiosity about these things? Shouldn't we be sharing information, and analyzing it? BTW, are Sputnik V or the two major Chinese-manufactured vaccines safer? (Is it all right to ask?)

  3.  @Dodgerzden  The professor of nursing from the UK, Dr. Campbell, did a video on the COVID kits various regional governments in India distributed, and he stated that there was some evidence of their value. The REAL problem is that we don't actually know. Why don't we know? Why isn't there an openness, curiosity, and a willingness to share information? That's what should concern you.

  4. I don't rely on Campbell. When he links to a paper that interests me, then I read the paper. The actual question remains. Do we know the result of India's initiative, if we can tell anything at all? Speculation about the class of drug is not an empirical answer. We know they used it. We know the WHO urged them not to. So, what actually happened? (OR . . . Is it politically suspect to ask? If so, then COVID must not be all that big of a deal. Politics would never override science in a true crisis.)

We know, in large part thanks to Glenn's work, that we are under constant surveillance. So how did the January 6 marauders get past all of that intelligence? How is it that so many police forces are infiltrated, for that matter? Why do quasi-fascist gangs have allies on the inside?

The point was, the January 6 attempt at insurrection is more likely to curtail the freedom of the people at large, and do nothing to prevent future actions of the same kind, if we are not vigilant and very, very careful. We are already under surveillance. So, how did January 6 happen? We know there is right-wing militia infiltration in police departments. Why aren't they being rooted out? All of this stuff is already illegal.

  11. Some of it is. You need more than the excerpt they present here to judge. Some (not all, and not a lot) of his anger has been both justified and productive, which is frankly the only reason why people like Katie and Briahna forgive him and overlook it. I can bet they speak to him about it privately. And I don't think CORNEL WEST would show up without a little constructive criticism first. Dore and his wife really did lose everything in a medical bankruptcy. They really did live in a little bungalow for 23 years. Dore is the youngest of 12 children. Sam and his crew never had friends like that. I have.

And that way, you laid a foundation: when the directive to wear masks comes down, you already stressed universal compliance. You already told people it was essential. Not that they don't work. Dore does not have power, and women like Gray and Halper and Susan Sarandon are in it based on the principle of the matter. But to take the most extreme example of what you mean, Harvey Weinstein, who was powerful, had so many of the women he oppressed (and worse) not only afraid to speak out (having seen what happened to those who dared to speak out), but also praising him to the skies. These types of dynamics are tragic. They lead to women resenting all men and being mistrustful of all men, which is crazy unfair. Well, you are overgeneralizing, too. Dore is so obviously working class that he turns most bourgeois people off. How can you miss that? That's what's happening with Dore! He has no real power. People support him in spite of his rants, because he is often right.

  21. The House impeached Trump knowing nothing would come of it, and that there would not even be witnesses testifying under oath in the Senate (which would have been useful to the public), because? Whereas during a pandemic and new shutdowns, there is no point in pushing for the healthcare the rest of the world has? Either Republicans vote for M4A, or their vote against M4A will haunt them. Let them vote no this time. That's not a loss, that's a bump in the road. If COVID progresses the way it is progressing in the UK now, with the new strain, the people pushing hard for Medicare without age discrimination will look like the visionaries.

  26. You know what the actual TOPIC of this program was, that MR chose this excerpt from? The First Amendment and the Tech Giants power over speech. The whole issue of their being private actors which nevertheless have quasi-governmental roles in our lives (not to mention monopoly power) was discussed better than I've heard it discussed anywhere recently. I think it's time to care a little more about free speech. The main topic wasn't impeachment at all. That wasn't the context.

We hear an interview from her, but not the actual words used against her or against the Olympic Committee that allowed her to box. So we don't know from this video what was said by these defendants. Harassment, bullying, and defamation are about actual words. With this mentality, our First Amendment won't survive.

  32. All legislation has been "anti-trans?" Yes, any states criminalizing a medical procedure should draw condemnation. No one has shown that there is any need for new criminal laws; they have weaponized another moral panic. But it is not the case that all of the legislation is anti-trans. California passed a "sanctuary" law to protect trans minors from their parents, a law which may even be unconstitutional under the Full Faith and Credit clause (and so might just be a performance by the California Dems). Let's not be so casual with the facts. This is first of all about money, in my opinion. Doctors and lawyers are going to clean up. Trans youth will be as forlorn as they have always been. (Did the 2020 demonstrations stop the police from killing black youth?) What did Glenn Greenwald say this time? That "coming out as trans" has given a person status in a few small circles? That's true, too. What else are you assailing him for? You didn't specify.

The truth about the lab leak theory is that if this virus was enhanced in some way, chances are that fact makes for a stronger case for vaccination, not weaker. Sounds like "natural" immunity is not so likely, and predictability of the course of the illness, or future mutations, is less likely. Those are reasons TO vaccinate. But that's just it, lying makes people more scared. It makes people believe something really big is happening, like when parents will lie to children to hide the truth. I had a minor operation two weeks ago. When they told me that major emergency surgery could be needed, and a blood transfusion could as well, THAT is when I calmed down. The worst case scenario, presented to me honestly, is what made me exhale. That's how I knew I was being told the truth.

You'll also have to concede that the pandemic is real, has killed more people here than anywhere, has thrown millions out of work, and that a needed change that has been on the table for two generations has yet to be enacted using the old tactics. If you know a better way, absolutely suggest it now. No problem.
