  4. They know why it doesn't work for most cases of severe COVID. Racaniello explained that it reduces intestinal replication of the virus but not lung replication, which is what kills. So its usefulness is limited. It doesn't appear to save lives. But off-label compassionate use of medicines shouldn't be prohibited unless it's known to be a risky medicine.

The case fatality rate for people under 50 with no comorbidities is likely much lower, and is certainly much lower for children, teens, and young adults. Vaccines must be voluntary. And based on individualized determinations.

No one has established where the virus that causes COVID originated. An accident involving research at that lab, possibly something as simple as virus collection and preparation, is very possible.
