  6. When I looked at the map of what Ukraine has retaken, it was not impressive. What's the goal here? To mire Russia in a Vietnam, or an Afghanistan, if you will, but with existential stakes? I take nothing at face value in any of this. A proxy war is not an ordinary war. The decision of Russia to escalate the war in the first place, creating a sea of refugees on the heels of the pandemic, and then its failure to conclude it by May 1, is already an immense disgrace in my book.

I was watching Aude Lancelin and this is what I gathered: Le Pen is collaborating with Macron to prevent Lucie Castets from becoming Prime Minister, because SHE would propose to lower the retirement age back to what it was, exactly as the vast majority of Le Pen's own supporters want, and the vast majority of French people want, regardless of party. But then, why does Le Pen resist this agenda? Because it would expose her party: they don't want a vote. They don't want to roll back the retirement age. They don't want to be forced to go on the record. They are for Macron's cuts to retirement, but don't want to be forced to vote with Macron, for all to see They want to support it quietly. IOW, played. Again. That's what's really happening. Could it work? Sure. It's what the WEF wants, and they're rich.

  28. I think this could be a turning point in the war. If Russians keep a cool head and take this event in stride, it could turn out to be a slight positive. If the recriminations start at home, and wild, unthinking retaliations are visited on Ukraine --- which is what usually happens in war --- then all bets are off.
