  9. I agree, even though I'm for vaccination. Moreover, there is no access to meaningful compensation for vaccination injury prior to full FDA approval. I unsubscribed because this podcaster is egging on the haters. His irrational appeal concerning his child really took the cake -- after heaping scorn on others, as if that could encourage more vaccination.

  11. Well, with the latest variant, mild breakthrough infections are possible. You may find you need to go into a crowded area. I picked up a couple of test kits, containing four tests in all -- and was out over $50 dollars with the tax. I recently had cold symptoms, no fever, went to the CDC website and based on the advice I got there, I stayed in for three days then took one of my at-home tests, to be safe. Not to infect others, basically. I would have preferred not to feel as though I were under house arrest for three days for a mild cold. I cannot afford three tests. If I could have tested more times, I would have stayed in one day, not three.

You're lining the pockets of people who want to turn you against other people in your own country. That's showing your superior brainpower. /s I unsubscribed. But if he needed brain surgery, anything from full recovery to lifelong disability are possible. :/ It's not unusual not to know for a solid year how well you'll recover. Some people are in bad shape, and then make progress for years, to the point where only their neurologists can detect their issues. He's really young, so . . . We can hope.

  17. Monopolies that provide essential communications should not have the power of prior restraint. Removing material that clearly violates terms of service is fine. Removing people is a different matter. There has to be a compelling reason. If any channel transmits practically all of the content of a channel that was properly banned for cause, what is the argument against banning that channel, too? So the content can stay up if someone on it pretends to "disapprove" of it? Oh brother! Think this through.

  21.  @JoJo-vg8dz  Baldwin said it best: he called them "people who think they're white," a mentality, socially constructed, and adopted, not predestined. Baldwin never found any in Europe right after WWII. There were horrible racists there, and even some who still believed in Hitler, but there were no "white" people. Read Toni Morrison, On the Backs of Blacks. That explains it perfectly. And read Ecclesiastes 9: 11. That's the place to start.

  23.  @mwfmtnman  But the concept of "race" is much newer. You really don't see it before the 17th century. The ancient Greeks didn't have it. Neither did Medieval Europe. The first conquistadores hurried up to baptize the most "beautiful" Aztec women in order to marry them. Homer mentions the Kush, calls them "Ethiopian" (they were from modern day Sudan), and considers them comparable to Greeks.

  27. Think of all the young black men who are not shot during a police encounter. So glad to hear there's no problem, then. Without comparing players to nonplayers, no generalization is possible, much less a claim that video games cause violence. But you don't know whether they do create a small risk, by comparison to not playing them, either.

  30. I heard Niall Ferguson extolling "the West" on Lex Fridmen's show, and Lex, quite astutely, asked him whether he includes the great Russian writers in "Western" civilization. Do I have to tell you Ferguson's answer? (It was "yes.") What a tool. Alternative facts does not begin to describe it. And of course HE tried to smear ideological opponents as a tactic when he was a student and an academic. No one should be surprised, ever.

  36.  @LongToad  Most vaccine hesitant people are minorities. Hence, vaccine hesitancy is very slighly higher among Democratic voters than Republican voters. So much for Rational National's truthiness.

The lower rates of vaccination among minorities, and the relative low number of Republicans compared with Democrats and Independents, has been enough to skew the totals, just as I said. Krystal Ball reported on it this week. You can post links, but you didn't read them.

  41.  @buffy4500  More politicized, absolutely, but have you been watching French news in the original? But everything is going to have that special viciousness, here. I haven't checked the weekly numbers, but last time I did, Germany had about the same number of fully vaccinated as the US, France had fewer, and Russia far fewer. Japan has very few. Only UK embraced it, but Oxford developed their vaccine. Serbia had an impressive rollout, with a wide choice (three non-mRNA and one mRNA vaccine, see the PBS report on that), but it seems to have stalled. I really did look this up.
