Americans always love to be told what they want to hear. Just ask your China expert Gordon Chang.
21
We? You mean you.
9
Tesla is using chinese ev batteries from CATL and Byd as they are the safest ones available. Unless you know more than them.
9
Maybe not you. Plenty in the states own the Chinese brand drone DJI. In fact DJI owns 70% of the US consumer drone market. They are just levels above the rest of the competition.
9
Chinese evs are dominating here in Thailand. Byd just broken ground for a new assembly plant to supply Asean and Australia/ New Zealand market. Not many can afford Tesla in this region. You should keep up with latest developments. The world is much more than old Europe.
9
@Wongseifu548 Try Bing. The two are too arrogant and want to fix their own rules, not the government's.
5
Short sighted. Buffet made a giant leap of fate in 2008 with his investment of 230 million dollars in an unknown automaker Byd. It was worth almost 6 billion dollars in 2023
4
@lalodaniels1388 Taiwanese you mean. America's favourite ally in the Far East.
4
The Netherlands govt just fined Uber 324 million dollars for sending the drivers personal data to US.
4
In a sort of complimentary way.
4
Mitch McConnell ,Nancy Pelosi are still there. Diane Felstein stay right till the end.
4
I remember her very well. Back in June 2011 when the Beijing - Shanghai high speed rail service launched their maiden trip, she was on board this brand new train and observed there were very few passengers. She remarked she had doubts this will be successful, as most Chinese would not be able to afford the fare. Fast forward today. This line is the busiest and most profitable route for the Chinese railways. It runs 41 daily trips to the two cities and carried more than 50 million passengers last year. She has probably learned by not commenting about the viability of this robotaxi service. She didn't want to wrong again.
4
@Hopper-n5f Not true. Apple iphone is still selling very well. Second, only to Huawei in the premium category and also second overall with a 15.5 % share of their market. Only Vivo beat them with 18.5% share. These are the latest figures 2024.
3
@mikebuchanan7610 For now. It won't remain the same. China doesn't stop just because ASML is the only game in town at the moment. Just like space was once the exclusive playground of US and Russia. Or the commercial aviation industry was until recently a Boeing/ Airbus duopoly. China will keep going until they succeed in launching their space station or their C919. A thousand mile journey starts with the first step. Then step by step till final destination. Patience and perseverence.
3
Just like the first car ride during the horse and carriage era. Many were convinced its dangerous to go faster than the carriage. But look at it now. The same with robotaxi. All it takes is time.
3
Cope harder bruh.
2
No major AI companies in the US opened source their advanced AI models. Every model is proprietary for competitive reasons.
2
Bruh. Its no longer the nineties. Japanese may have some hope to catch up. But the Yanks.Sorry too late, the only protection is their 100% tariff.
2
No worries . Not a Taiwanese or Japanese phone. Huawei is in a class of their own.
2
Tesla robotaxi is like their roadster. Going to happen anytime now.
2
@andrerodriguez7603 Nah. He's right.
2
This is how humanity progresses. Like the Wright Brothers taking the first manned flight back in 1903. Many would have thought they were dumb to try to imitate the bird. God would have given us wings if we are meant to fly.
2
Not for 170 million of your fellow Americans.
2
So what do you call coming up with endless sanctions on Chinese companies.
2
A lie repeated often enough and people will believe it.
2
jasonlucas2328 Work in progress . Can only get better with time since the service is only available in certain areas. Not city wide yet like a regular taxi where you just wave one down on the street.
2
This is a China specific phone. They don't use Google apps. As for price, it's not a product for the average Joe. Just like a Lambo or a Ferrari are not your average daily commute vehicle.
2
@ocampbell1954 So you are saying the Detriot Big Three never ever got any subsidies or helping hand from Washington.
2
They have their own. Like Huawei's Qiankun and Xpeng's XNGP. There are already self driving taxis and buses in certain major Chinese cities. Tesla is actually late to the party
2
Huawei has a global reputation of designing and making the phones in their own class. Already surpassed Apple in every way.
2
@leeroyjenkins3677 There are plenty of them here in Asean especially Thailand. Byd is so far ahead, no one can catch them. Their assembly plant here should be ready soon with a production cspacity of 150k per year. All to service the right hand drive market here and down under.
1
When ev charging used to take 8 hours, now you can fully charged within 30 mins. Time will tell.
1
The best thing to happen out of this dreadful situation. Thanks for reading the mood of those quarantined.
1
@KK-pm7ud 170 million Americans do not think so.
1
@MM-sf3rl Union jobs are protected by 100% tariff on Chinese evs.
1
It's usually the one who is coming , wants something from the host. Not the other way around. Common logic
1
Still waiting their roadster. Now waiting for their robotaxi
1
They just launched their fastest high speed train, the CR450 just a couple of days ago. It can touch speed of 450km/h, making it the fastest passenger carrying( not prototype) high speed train in the world. Commercial services to start in matters of weeks. Who did they copy this from? Most definitely not US since they are still struggling to complete their first line. After decades of planning and massive cost overruns.
1
Put this a test. Allow them to come with the present 25% tariff and see the response.
1
@KP-xi4bj Chinese lunar new year holiday in Feb.
1
@StormyDog So many Chinese evs have 5 star Euro NCAP safety ratings. Easy to confirm this
1
The same mistake they made thinking the Vietcong is different from the South Vietnamese.
1
Reason is pretty obvious. Like their 100% tariff on Chinese evs, eventhough none is for sale there.
1
@jasonlucas2328 Jack MA the clown is now a professor in Tokyo University. He was put in his place for thinking he is bigger than CCP.
1
Thats the normal consolidation process. Happens to US auto industry as well. Now down to the big three.
1
Boy are you in for a surprise. Do you know their phones have pre-installed Google services in some South East Asian countries, like mine. I used their Nova 10 SE model that I can access chrome and Gmail. I don't need google store as their own app gallery has almost all the same apps I find in G store. They have navigation map Petal as a replacement for gmaps. And there is also Waze .
1
@trackandballgamer2854 Even if we had a whole lot of Nvidia cutting edge gpu, our AI companies here wouldn't be able to come up with a DeepSeek equivalent. You need much more than just a pile of expensive chips.
1
@harry76n That's because China is primarily an export driven economy and not a service and consumption driven one like in Europe or US. Their GDP per capita income has to be distributed across their massive 1.4 billion population, as compared to 745 million in Europe and 350 million in US. Hence their lower percapita income. billion population as compared with the West. A manufacturing and export driven economy does not create the kind of individual wealth you see in the West.
1
@ladrondecorazones8432 Not for long.
1
Cope harder . I know you can't afford one like me. But I am not salty about it.
