  1. Of course they are. We're reciprocating/retaliating for the US being tariffed AT ALL. If other nations granted us free trade, we'd reciprocate. But they don't. This is about trade diversity, equity, equality, and inclusion.

  2. In my experience of working in local municipal government, HALF of whatever money you get from the federal government is lost to administering getting said money. I'm using $500k of covid/American Rescue Plan Act money we have left over to do a big corrosion rehab on my water treatment plant at work. Almost $200k of that is going to the engineering firm we had to hire to administer the grant, write the contracts, do the federal bidding process, bring in inspectors and supervisors to enforce the contracts and plans. Having some pipes sandblasted and painted is going to take 18 months.

I was in college back when the first big Wikileaks archive came out, including the "Collateral Murder" video, and my university's Career Services Dept. did a whole press release stating DO NOT look at ANY of that information, because if you do you can NEVER work for the US Federal Government, ever, because then you'd have to either admit you had received leaked classified info, or lie on a polygraph, both of which would disqualify you. That was like 2008-ish.

My dad has expressed this kind of thinking and it always surprises me, I mentioned something about an investment, I can't even remember what it was, but it was somewhat greed-based, and I remember him replying "That makes no sense, if you already HAVE millions or billions of dollars, why would you do that thing to make more money you don't need?" And I'm like, DUH, what is the one thing people with billions on dollars can't buy but want more than anything, GETTING MORE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS. If you're someone who can be satisfied with what you've accomplished and not be greedy, you have trouble understanding people who ARE greedy. It's like a man I know, just went through his FOURTH divorce, and was dating TWO NEW WOMEN while his divorce was finalizing, and he's asking me why I'm his age and single....like, bro, duh, look at the insanity and stress you're going through, I want none of that, and besides, you're out here ruining women 6 at a time, there's nothing LEFT. I'd be happy with one wife for life, you're working on wives 5 and 6...

As a kid in the 80s, my school teachers thought I had ADD, and booted me from school until a doctor diagnosed me and put me on ritalin...So my parents took me to my GP, a great doctor who ended up being my doctor my first 35 years alive. He saw me, examined me, did some tests, and returned me with a clean bill of health, no drugs, and an admonishment to the female teachers "He doesn't have ADD, HE'S A 6 YEAR OLD BOY, he's going to do 6 year old boy things, YOU are an adult, do your JOB and control him". If that had been today I'd have been put on 3 drugs, therapy, and probably been transitioned. Thank god I had a based doctor.

  23. Iran having nuclear bombs, meh. Nuclear bombs are very localized and history has shown us they're not that big a deal, we've set over 2000 off in testing and it hasn't really done anything. Iran having something like weaponized smallpox that kills 90% of the global population everywhere on Earth, that is an issue and WAY easier and more plausible. No one under like 50 has any immunity whatsoever to that. We eradicated it in the 70s and thus stopped vaccinating. It would be like COVID but with a 20-50% death rate instead of a 0.2 to 0.5% death rate.

  27. I worked with a very nice woman from China when I was in college, and I got confused when she started talking about her older and younger brothers and sisters. She was born in the 1980s. She explained to me that the one child policy didn't apply to her family, because her dad was a PLA GENERAL and Party Member, and was encouraged to have as many children as possible. She also told me she got in HUGE trouble with her parents when she went home to visit because she mentioned working...OUR child, has a JOB, in America, apparently it was seen as some giant embarrassment due to their status. I kick myself for not dating her lol, I could be living it up with commie fatcats instead of getting by here in the US.

I remember when I worked for the University of Missouri, something like 30,000 employees, we got a new Chancellor who was a former CEO of Sprint/Nextel. He took a $1 a year salary and came and met EVERY employee, visited every department, every computer lab, every classroom. Because it was his JOB to do that.

  33. NO ONE is debating the existence of climate change, not a single person. The debate is the CAUSE. If its just natural and an inevitability, spending trillions on it is a waste. That's the logic.   35. Why? If you place a 25% tariff on foreign goods, that's now a 25% DISCOUNT on American goods. The automotive tariffs do not apply to foreign motorcycles, for example, so imported sport bikes just got way cheaper compared to imported cars.

  45. A better example is TCP/IP. THAT is truly open source, decentralized networking. If you an be banned, it's not decentralized, because who bans you? The central authority. TCP/IP works so well that in Desert Storm when the US tried to take down the entire Iraqi command and control system, they couldn't, the protocols we in the US designed and released to the world as part of the network that could survive a massive war, survived our massive war attacks.
