  1. Because they have completely 'othered' us. Something they caution everyone against in the name of inclusion! If you're 'othered' then you're a non-person, you don't merit the fair, good treatment that they claim for themselves. Nigel Farage, JK Rowling, Kelly Jane Keen, the gammon are amongst the millions who've been othered.

  2. I grew up overseas (parents in gvt service) in the 70s-80s. I listened to everything on the World Service. I reckon that I received the fruits of world class university education through WS, it prepared me wonderfully for actual uni in the UK. But that was before both the BBC and HE went sour. Now it's all such a travesty.

  4. A brilliant encapsulation, Alan. I'm a kindred spirit. I particularly like your 'History is a record of human stupidity'. Of course, the corollary is that it's also a record of how intelligent humans managed to overcome the stupidity of the stupid humans' and their reliance on bullying and over-emotionalism on which they rely to advance themselves and their immature and ill-thought out idées fixes. A big problem now is that IQ levels have been steadily falling for several decades.

I believe the majority of us all know intuitively that this is true, that our society is injuring us. If we and the academics know this, then we can be sure our governments know it. Yet they still carry on with their injurious, exploitative policies. It's deliberate and sociopathic.

It's certain that they don't make anything like as much by giving airtime/column inches to the facts that 1 in 3 UK children are living in poverty or that 27million Brits live in poverty (Office for National Statistics). I watched Tommy Robinson address the Oxford Union. It changed my mind completely about him. He's a regular bloke who spoke genuinely from the heart yet rationally about his town and country and the horrid mess that our gvts have made of towns and cities (for everyone, not just white people) with their unfettered and greedy immigration policies. Meanwhile, I really do think we should stop taking these deranged wokesters seriously. They're full of complaints but absolutely no solutions that take everyone's needs and wants into account. Clanging cymbals, their irrational manky word salads are way past their sell by date now!

(There's a whole canon of research and interpretation across the philosophical, psychological, sociological, anthropological, historical spectrums, about why people everywhere generally prefer to stay as silent followers despite the advantages of power). Again, most people will resist change - whether it's good or bad. Most people take the ultra-conservative, cautious, commonsensical, least life-disrupting route forward. And so that means good news: delusional wokesterism, devoid of reason and commonsense, is doomed to fail.

  16.  @paul756uk2  I believe you're right about more social mobility back then. It was the era of the state grammar school where children were given many of the benefits of public school education which equipped them for upward mobility (or 'bettering their lot'!). As a former governor of a large comprehensive school, I'm quite certain that the majority of these schools, whatever their merits, do not afford pupils such entrees. It's something to do with making everyone equal....but the reality is that we're not equal once we're all out in the wider world. Estuary English is also one of my bugbears. Not, per se, because it's a regional accent but because its speakers are often prone to mispronunciation ('wevver' instead of 'whether' etc etc.) and 'casualising' the language, all of which makes speakers sound poorly educated and sloppy, and like they're on a fun chat show all the time. It can also remove authority from statements that need authority behind them.

  19. Please, please take an in-depth look at the NHS. I tend to Charles Moore's perspective, from a standpoint of a bottom-of-the-pile patient-unit (as they call us). Unlike apparently most, I don't suffer from healthcare provider-induced Stockholm Syndrome.

  20.  @brittanydawn2633  I'm so glad that you're going to read this book. I'm thinking you may be surprised at how current-day his assessments sound. He was spot on about the inexorable erosion of democracy (extending democracy and widening participation was my field back then) by global corps as they bought gvts. It makes me feel old to realise that actually so many of us have been at this for so long!! But to what avail...? It's happened anyway and life nowadays is getting narrower and narrower.But I have to believe that nothing rooted in soulless avarice can ever stand for long.

  32. @Mr Creosote You know, I think some of us did take it seriously. I went to uni in the late 80s-early 90s when the academic neo-Marxists were beginning to flex their muscles in earnest. I signed up to 'Women's Studies' as a filler to bump some extra credits on my scoreboard. TWO sessions - a lecture and a seminar - is all I could stand. I was out of there and onto another 'doss' 1/2 module superquick. It was arrant nonsense, sheer propaganda and ideologising and verging on insanity. Anyone with enough experience of the real world immediately picked that up. I fared better than a lot though - there was one young woman on that course, a strict Christian from Nigeria, she actually had a nervous breakdown because of the lunacy she was expected to agree with. Poor girl. No academic course should damage people like that. But the new-Marxists didn't care a fig. They just kept rolling on....and now look where we are....

  36. The Stephen Lawrence murder inquiry police were certainly incompetent. They were also chronically obstructive and unsympathetic to Stephen's parents. During her speech at St Martin's in the Fields on 22APRIL2014, now Baroness Doreen Lawrence, Stephen's long-suffering mum, said, " The very people you expect to provide justice are the ones who are hostile towards you and who are making you feel like a criminal during your darkest moment ." It is evident that there are different 'flavour-of-the-month' victims of crime, apparently according to whatever political agenda pertains and regardless of whatever laws pertain. Whilst 'flavour of the month' 'victims of crime' have their complaints investigated to the nth degree, most victims of out-of-favour crime are conversely condemned to suffer not only the uninvestigated/poorly investigated crime they reported but also the horrendous denigration of 'the very people you expect to provide justice'; they don't have the admirable fortitude and courage that Harry has. This corruption, which extends well beyond the 'hate speech' arena into all other types of crime, has to be stopped. The law is the law and surely should be enabled to protect all according to the actual, legally objective facts of each case.

  39. Your assessment is, I believe, accurate. It all started when the bankers moved us from a savings/cash economy to a credit economy in the 80s. I knew it was bad then, and completely unsustainable. Anyone with any sense can see that creating endless debt is a bankrupt endeavour. It was bound to fail and to need correction. Now, yet again, they're attempting to get the ordinary, hard-working public to pay for their greedy frolics.

  44. There's a reason that only the best and the brightest thinkers were allowed into university*. With the floodgate commercialisation of HE have come flock after flock of sheep with good credit scores who are unable to think for themselves, being at some level sub par in the intellectual stakes (who on earth would take out £10s of thousands in loans as a very young adult thus crippling their adult life?! I mean, that IS crazy. Thus universities are now hotbeds of less than sharp followers ripe to be manipulated rather than rational leaders who are able to argue cogently from fact and reality. This is all the result of turning unis into business ventures. (*before anyone jumps on me about equality of opportunity, there have always been HE scholarships: in the early 1900s my grandfather, his wife and his brother from less than wealthy backgrounds obtained such, they were not exceptions amongst their peers.)

Why are 95% of Western leaders singing the same devil's tune?? I'm beginning to think that this BBB/Great Reset scam was cooked up about a decade ago in the aftermath of the sheer debacle of 2008ff. Now, I surmise that ALL the globe's VVIPs got together and thrashed out another way to a)make more $billions from us peasants ('rent everything, don't own anything'? In other words, steal everything from us that could support us to get a leg up), and b) to keep the growing masses under tighter control. In sum, their global corps and institutions have made a total mess of the world and our economies thus their profits are fast dwindling, now it's time to gouge us some more. PS - I'd suggest moving back to Scotland, God's Ane Countrie. But the crazy wee Mrs Krankie in charge is also a fully paid up member of the Dictators' Club and making lives horrible there too... <sigh> But that's my point - where on earth isn't infected by this vile anti-democracy, anti-freedom, anti-human cult?

I looked at JT/FC photos and I can see how people draw that conclusion. I expect he is indeed the sons of PT but cultivates this rumour to up his cred amongst his uber-leftist admirers (who seem to believe anything he says). Meanwhile, there's a scurrilous rumour that our PM was actually sired by Tweedle-Dee or maybe Tweedle-Dum. (My money's on Bozo the clown and Marie Antoinette...) My Aus friends tell me just the same about their gvts selling off immense tranches of their country to China. It's very worrying indeed, dystopian nightmarish in fact. My children are grown, thank goodness, and in good careers. But grandchildren are coming along now and I'm as concerned for them as I was for my children. My solution is education, the best possible and as much as possible. (By education I think I mean certificates these days. Not sure how much useful education is available from formal schools now.)

  50. "The NHS needs a recovery plan". That's going to be well-nigh impossible. The NHS doesn't do anything but disease management. At best that's a dreary, forlorn and hopeless approach to any disease. At worst it's almost as dangerous as the disease itself.
