@joenicedj Plus it's a great place for urban sketching!
2
We did in 2022.
2
@WilcoMR-S A lot of boating accidents at the end of 2017.
2
Yes but, no longer to purchase real estate for Golden Visa - now an investment fund. Also, it may take much longer than 5 years due to horrendous bureaucracy - more like 7 or 8 years. You also have to take 150 hours of language lessons and a test to apply for citizenship. NHR has mostly stopped but only need to visit 14 days every two years and therefore you do not become tax resident in Portugal.
2
@TechWithAdil Bureaucrats in Portugal take their time, currently over 425,000 residency applications in backlog, no money, no resources, no interest in processing quicker. It is supposed to be 5 years but Golden Visa takes about 2 years to receive Visa then apply at 5 years - citizenship process a couple of years more. No one ever rushes! Even with a lawyer.

Yes of course... I've been there many times drinking Raki (anise flavoured alcoholic drink) and Efes (a local beer). Turkish wine is drinkable at a push! Do yourself a very big favour - experience the place for yourself, you might be amazed by the infrastructure, history, friendliness of the people and sights/smells... take a walk along the banks of the Bosphorus one morning in the sunshine - it might change your views on travel and life in general. Good fortune!

@cosmichealth3907 We have been in some sort of lockdown or restrictions since March. I believe all politicians have lost it. Our government does not just U-turn on policies they 'pirouette' in the UK.
2
@cosmichealth3907 Thank you! I had COVID in March but have suffered from government policies ever since! We are leaving VERY soon. Have a great New Year!
2
Agree!
2
A very clear analytical assessment - you should have worked for KPMG on the MM2H program for the Malaysian Government.
2
Malaysia has some of the best healthcare in the world, some states are looking to offer free tertiary education to citizens. Roads are excellent, many cities are modern and all are safe. Industrial sectors - semi-conductors, hydro power (and other green energy), tourism, IT, health tourism, electric battery components, high value manufacturing.
2
@timmyhiggins5220 agreed. We’ve changed direction and settling in Portugal.
2
Work online - move abroad.
2
We are not resident in Singapore nor have a work permit - we have a bank account in Malaysia that also allows us to have a bank account in Singapore too.
2
Don't tell India.
2
True!
2
BUT... will anyone take his advice?
2
Looking forward to swapping my UK car for a Grab app in Malaysia.
2
He's produced a lot of videos which do not required 7 or 8 figues.
2
@BennieTarrMusic Agreed, bizarre way to think and live.
2
Someone said the Ringgit has depreciated badly over the last 5 years - with the way they're lockdown the country for 18 months, that only goes one way.
2
Novi Sad & Belgrade - seams of gold.
2
@joaoportugal8618 like every country
2
@Jaysonbc1234 Thanks! We are looking forward to our new adventure.
2
Productivity? Debt levels? Balance of payments? £ vs. $ or €? Levels of foreign investment?
2
Very odd that this video had to be made. It's quite sad that anyone is worried about others' opinions.
2
Such fun at parties!
2
I'm trying to think of a retrospective tax that's been enacted in the UK - without success. I even Googled it. I honestly think I won't come up empty-handed in a year or so's time.
2
@pures1n Not likely. If they wanted to open the program again, they would. There is no political or economic will to do so. We decided to apply to Sarawak.
2
I'm guessing very cheap condos are about to arrive on the market over the next few years?
2
No one else’s business
2
You do not need any income with the new financial requirements.
2
Tyrannical governments will not let you leave - leave before that happens.
2
Belgrade Beat Highly qualified, high work ethic and want to succeed, that’s true.
2
@AlexBosy What are the limitations of the D7 Portugal visa/residency? You can’t move freely to another EU country. That would require a separate visa from the other country. You can’t exceed the maximum number of days outside Portugal (183 days in a calendar year). I will follow my lawyer's guidance.
2
@AlexBosy Yes, understood - I am aware some consulates interpret the rule differently. Correct we agree. We are happy to live in Portugal and not to leave for more than six months - thereby staying in the country six months per year. We are currently in the process of obtaining a D7. Thanks for the info and it shows there's a lot of grey areas in this space.

Work online
2
I wonder how safe is Malaysia, China not far away. Malaysia has oil and refineries.
2
Otis elevators - The towers are equipped with 58 double-deck elevators and 18 single elevators.
2
Good idea, taking a backseat on social media. When you sell the business, you want to completely walk away - otherwise, you'll become part of the value of the business. We are in Portugal with help of the videos and book. Thank you.
2
Air travel 2023???? By December most places will be open if there's not another wave. I'd be happy to live in Penang until 2023.
2
I agree. Aren't we looking at 'global tax, green regulations, business standardisation and harmonisations'? Just walk around any mall in any large city, worldwide - how many global names do you see? Very few unexpected stores no matter which country. I think it's a shame, I travel to experience different cultures, it seems unless I go really off the beaten track there's always a Starbucks nearby. I may not enter but their ilk are all-pervasive.

@ we walked that route from Chow Kit, Kampung Baru, Soloma link to Suria KLCC easy route. Had lunch and walked back. Not hot as we expected. Locals were friendly and asking us if we were lost! Everything good. Had a walk in the evening to the food centre - Last exit, very friendly and nice tasty food. Enjoying our visit. We also walked to Merdeka Square, my wife painted the older white building - I went for a coffee! We then got roast duck and rice in the central market as it was easy and great tasting - then got a Grab back to the hotel, very hot and sunny and we’d already walked 13,000 steps!
2
@Yasin_Affandi Kuching next destination then Penang! Thank you.
2
@ Terima kasih.
2
Obviously, the necessary amount of due diligence is required. I'm quite happy with my monthly online income, so unsure why owners would want to sell - if run correctly very little time is required day to day. I wonder if boredom is a factor? The next shiny object?
2
I commuted into London every day - unpleasant.
2
@basicfilmblog why not make a law where if people want to pay tax they can - others don’t have to?
2
@basicfilmblog What are you talking about? - we both voted to stay within the EU due to freedom of movement, as our plans to move to Portugal. Took advantage of tax laws of course, being tax residents in Portugal we are in their tax system and not subject to HMRC - that is the way tax laws work.
2
@rubensnogueira5838 Correct - investment visa has no stay requirements unlike the other visas like retirement visa.
