  1. I always ask this question, "what motivates you to become a construction worker now in today's economy"? Someone might say, it's a good paying job that keeps a roof over my head. You say, "homeless was made illegal during Lenin's rule and housing was guaranteed as a right to citizens." They respond that they could not get a better job because they couldn't afford college. You point out that the USSR paid people to go learn particular trades that were in high demand at the time. Construction is always in high demand btw. Ultimately, no one does things directly for money. Not even rich people. For them it's about power and control. Money is merely a means to an end. For t working class, money is merely a means of subsistence.

  12.  @superdog797  emigration out of the Soviet Union didn't occur until the 1920s. That was because many dissenters had left and brought back counter revolutionary allies that would commit acts of terror, including trying to assassinate Lenin in front of his apartment. The other reason was for brain drain. They didn't allow much immigration either. Only pockets of time did they allow mass numbers. This is a policy I personally wish the US and most other western powers would emulate. My aunt and uncle were born in the 1950s, after the fall of the Soviet Union they left due to how horrible things became during the period of "openness", they moved to the US and continued to move around the country because they didn't enjoy anywhere they went until finally settling in rural Pennsylvania. They died in 2014. As for me, I'm not ideologically driven. I don't care about ideology or it's consistency or logical consistency. I don't want to copy-paste the Soviet Union (which is hard to do as different periods had vastly different policies) nor do most people who have nostalgia for it agree with literally every aspect. But that's irrelevant. The overall governing structure and economy was greater than it is now. Reuters did a big study in 2018 about it. Im a socialist for 1 reason and 1 reason only. I believe Capitalism is woefully inefficient, wasteful and encourages isolation and meaninglessness. Socialism gives workers power and creates a better sense of community.

  16. Capitalism is absolutely not a meritocracy. It's been getting in the way of national success for not only other countries but even it's progenitors (UK and USA) since the beginning. It places individual wealth over national health.

  19. The market pushes things on people as well. Most of the time consumption habit's are based on technology and goods that corporations create and advertise in hopes people will buy. But things that are necessary aren't considered. Things that people need, like healthcare, energy, homes. The profit motive doesn't care.

  21. I criticize the Marxist-Leninist model because of it's party focus. The vanguard of "enlightened" proletarians on behalf of the working masses will always lead to corruption, unnecessary bureaucracy and a sociological distance from the majority of the people.

  26.  @superdog797  capitalism demands alienation and exploitation to function. Isolation comes inherently with that. You can choose to "leave it up for debate" but it really isn't. The debate has been settled long ago. And I don't necessarily agree that we should prohibit people from leaving their country for travel. But the USSR regularly, like almost every weekend, has airports and trains open for citizens to use to travel to other parts of it's vast territory. So the idea that they could not go anywhere isn't exactly true.

  31. I imagine people aren't criticizing the Soviet Union right now because this video isn't about the Soviet Union, which has been defunct for 30 years. This is America, today. And it needs our help if we want it to be great. The first step to recovery is recognizing that you've got a problem.

  33.  @eliserss9179  that's my point actually. If we had political parties that debated about what social policies would exist for their city or state then I'd not have a problem. I don't think progressive ideology should be prohibited if a particular voting block advocates for it. But I think it is a degenerate and abhorrent way to live life. So do the majority of people throughout history. But regardless, I want conservative cities and states to exist the same way progressive ones do: sovereign and able to collectively decide the fate of their own communities. Too many Right wing conservatives as well as progressive leftists want the same policies federally. No. It's not supposed to be like that. Inclusivity is not diversity. You want diversity? Go to Little Italy, China Town, Caribbean St. Don't force the differing cultures to share physical space.

  42. This is something the Left needs to understand. The majority of the working class are conservative by nature. Supporting local farming, being in fraternities (aka unions and cooperatives, creating self sufficient communities where everyone works in trades or sells goods in the communal main street market... These are all conservative beliefs. And it's predicated on discipline, family, duty, honor, gender roles and restraint from indulgence. Too many leftists today celebrate behaviors that go completely against the beliefs of the working class. The majority of liberals are white collar, tech gurus who have university degrees. The majority of the working class went to trade school, barely passed high school and work for their local store or their families farm. Those people are largely conservative. Conservatives are also more likely to own firearms, have the mental not to mention physical acumen for necessary violence and are steadfast in defending their land and country. All great revolutions were led by patriotic movements for national sovereignty. Stalin spent a lot of time focused on what makes a nation and why it was important. We need to reread and remember why that was. The cosmopolitan Left which embraces internationalism will always neglect the differences of varying people's with varying circumstances and conditions. If the Left cannot win over conservatives, they have no hope of ever winning at all. Conservatives build and maintain this nation, most nations in fact. They are the blue collar working man. They are the industrial and agricultural proletarians. Without them, even if the revolution succeeded, maintaining that new socialist nation would fail.

  47. The reason more people left Russia after the overthrow of the czar was because one, the czar didnt permit emigration out of the country. And two, the population grew once the Soviet Government took hold. Also they had access to planes whereas before planes were magical devices no one in Russia had seen. The US ambassador wasn't ignorant or indifferent to the "situation". The situation didn't exist and it was created by pro American media to convince other Americans that they only reason their neighbors would stay was if they were forced to. Turns out, they chose to stay and did so happily. My aunt and her husband are a great example. They died in 2014 but they moved to the US after the Soviet Union fell. To this day the majority of Russian citizens as well many many citizens from former satellite states say they wish the USSR would return. The majority leading that charge aren't younger people, but older ones who actually lived under "communist" rule.

  48. Well, North Korea is a highly stratified, impoverished nation that prohibits people to own a company, including worker co-ops. So yeah, it's pretty likely defectors who actually manage to escape would have bad things to say. Their "elections" are not free nor fair. They are effectively a neo-monarchist state. Also, you can't voluntarily leave North Korea. You get sent back if found by most countries except for The US, South Korea and parts of China. Universities are objectively reeducation centers. Up until 50 years ago the Left would have agreed. And forcing others to use someone's preferred pronouns is compelled speech to control language and social cohesiveness from above. It's not real.

  50. I try to tell conservatives that their ideology was founded in liberalism but they only associate liberalism with social progressivism. Still, I hold some pretty traditional values. I call myself a member of the "broletariat". "Their taking our jobs" is not rahcist. It's factually true. How do 22 million illegals not personally affect me and other "whyte" people?
