How does two men carry fishing gear near a river make them "suspicious"? Of course they are going to be wrapped up, they sit at a river for hours and the weather changes. Christ-on-a-bike.
31
@Fairy71128 Using a fishing rod?
13
@maggieedward3951 Not everybody watches the news. They may be completely oblivious.
12
@ivorycxxxx " Then that’s honestly the children’s fault for jumping in, in my opinion." With that attitude you should never be given the responsibility of looking after young children.
11
Police are searching the Wyre for the damaged section.

Captain Birdseye looked dodgy to me.
9
For Putin, yes it is.
8
Yes, the property is suspiciously modest and suggests that any alleged money went elsewhere. It's the sort of property somebody would live in to actively avoid speculation regarding their finances.
8
@florenceandrews2526 You don't need a guise, you simply walk down the path like everybody else is doing!
8
@araweelospirit4180 But the irony is delicious.
7
Only somebody living in a part of the UK that doesn't experience extreme weather events would say that.
6
It is local cell towers that send it, so I am guessing yours will not alert in France!
6
How do you know it wasn't? The video they want is from the day before she disappeared, not after.
6
"If she was in that river she’d be floating and visible by now" In freezing temperatures her body would decompose at a much slower rate, her clothing would be VERY heavy too. She could remain under water for weeks.
6
Yes...and no. He searched sections of the river. If he really wanted to assist, he would continue the search downstream.
6
@geoffjoffy Yeah there is a lot of "that's what I heard", going about.
6
Bodies move, you don't appear to understand that simple point.
5
Hope they aren't expecting to catch a train or bus to the protests.
5
@stephen4121 Because people who live in coastal towns and wildfire areas obviously aren't important, right?
5
@pjj177 I'm happy for you. However there are plenty of people who would have liked to have been woken during the night to be warned that their house was about to be flooded. Amazing how people are individuals who have individual circumstances. But as long as YOU are ok, right?
5
@loriAlessiroberts118 Indeed, the police timeline stated that the harness was halfway between the bench and the river. Could it be that she fell in while attending to her dog, leaving the phone on the bench listening to the Teams meeting as she did so?
5
What exactly is it you want the police to do when adults decide to drop off the grid for whatever reason?
5
They can bring all the laws they like, who's going to enforce them? When was the last time you saw a dog warden or copper on a local street beat?
5
What YOU don't believe does not leave only one option! What you believe did or did not happen is irrelevant to what actually did happen, you do understand that, yes?
4
"how can she be so sure that every possible thing has been checked out" It is fortunate that she only said that in your head then, isn't it.
4
You can't have the police investigating every "missing" adult who has been gone for 60 minutes.
4
@martinwebb1681 LOL! On the other hand I once witnessed a "missing" child report, toddler I think, so not the usual teenager going on the run stuff. I was impressed at how quickly the police had sealed off the housing estate within minutes of the report, there were loads of cars and vans. The police get a bad rap, but they were certainly on the ball that day. All ended well, the kid was playing hide and seek in their own house!
4
Why is alerting people of a local flood, 1984?
4
@pjj177 "they don’t no where it’s gonna flood until it’s already started flooding tho brains of Britain" Erm, it's called a weather forecast. River levels are monitored, isn't all this stuff amazing? Welcome to the 21st Century!
4
Peter Faulding is looking a right idi0t now.
4
"The governemt has the power to jam your phone?" They already have to power to turn off your local cell towers, they don't need to "jam" your phone, not that this has anything to do with jamming anyway, because it doesn't!
4
People fall into water and drown every day. They are reported as strong swimmers. They are found weeks later by a dog walker or jogger. It's like you lot don't read the news.
4
If she is "right" then why has she withdrawn her comments and apologised?
4
Comparing an alert of a local flood to 1984? Get a grip!
4
The lesson I got from this is don't be a p!sshead and drive like a cnut.
4
Because bodies move around, get trapped, sink. It's not rocket science mate!
4
Except the camera at home shows he was there, at home!

Typical Windows update forcing a reboot and losing your work.

The issue with people spouting their pet theories is that the police have to deal with all the crackpots turning up thinking they are Miss Marple. It is even worse when a so-called "expert" goes around making claims that she is not in the water when the whole river has not actually been searched. He should stick to using his sonar and leave it a missing persons case to the real experts, instead of getting the hopes of the family up.
3
@MelliaBoomBot Yes they turn up, it's why the police mentioned that speculation on social media was not helpful. It generates all these pet theories that then others act upon. They were breaking into empty houses for example. The sonar guy is experienced at sonar searching, his only comments should be that he could not find her. It should not extend to categorically saying that she is not in the river, that is a ridiculous statement that people on social media have picked up on who now believe she isn't in there because an "expert" said so. I believe that "expert" is going to be left very embarrassed with his reputation in tatters.
3
@kpopfan674 But they have searched. What is it the 40 detectives have been doing?
3
Going after him suggests that the police are very confident of their information and getting to the charging stage.
3
@keepitmoving5440 "It does not effect me" But it does others. How selfish can you get? You do know that it is LOCAL alerts for LOCAL disasters?
3
But his sonar was better than the one the police had! Perhaps had he been told of her problems he could have used the menopausal woman setting on it?
3
There are 40 detectives on the case. You actually believe they have 40 detectives only looking at the river theory? They don't tell us everything you know!
3
@DameTremonti Will people like you stop bringing common sense to the discussion. We need more wild speculation and bonkers abduction theories, not some sensible well thought comments from the likes of you.
3
@loriAlessiroberts118 No that is not correct. It was initially reported that a man picked it up off the floor, however it was later confirmed that it was found face up on the bench.
