Everything OK in your area?
4
@davidwarford3087 Yep. Totally different categorization in almost every way and makes a mockery. Not enough kids entering STEM? Well, give em a paintbrush and everything is fine with STEAM.
4
You laught but I've seen many monitor boxes that don't specify the resolution anywhere on the outside.
4
@ZeranZeran It's a lot different now. I speak as someone who was around to craft X mode lines. Last few installs on random hardware have been seamless.
4
@ZeranZeran LOL. No. I have a Linux desktop I use for a few things that's exclusively Linux and I put Steam on it so my son could play Terraria and then Portal and Portal 2 and Don't Starve Together. I came up yesterday and he had installed a few more games on his own. He's five. There are some games that don't work (I hear) but it's looking a lot better than it was. He also uses it for Minecraft but that's outside of Steam.
4
@Xander1Sheridan Yeah, I thought it was ready to collapse in the late 90s. The market has softened a couple of times but resumed on to new highs. It's absolutely insane.
4
I'm an occasional recreational Android developer. I was dismayed when I saw a bunch of the functionality move from being general OS provided services to being provided by the proprietary Google Play services. A very dark day.
4
@Justinstormer That's Hanlon's Razor.
4
@IamUzyf They got worse, not better. At least in the functional design dept. Stick a new processor and more memory in and S5 and I'm good. The hardware guys are doing a great job. The designers are dropping the ball.
4
@TheMeisterManuel I should do. My OS is very outdated.
4
The accounts for different things are so intertwined now too that it's quite possible that it could have far-reaching repercussions. One badly interpreted youtube comment could get an account banned which with cloud services, hosting, gmail etc, could take down a whole business. I think Amazon is a little bit less broad but there's still plenty that could go wrong (they own Twitch, AWS and probably a bunch of other services I'm not even aware of).
4
I think that's gone the way of Google's "Don't be evil".
4
@zzaretube You misunderstand statistics. You can't apply the general to the specific. Can't tell if the vaccine helped or not on an individual level just from a story like this.
4
@xSkittlesxNewbx That's only for copyrights, not trade secrets.
4
The big box home improvement centers are often very bad on restocking. It's not unusual to go there with a shopping list for a project and only come away with 2/3 or less of the items needed. Sometimes, I'll make a pickup order just so they're the ones who have to waste their time looking for stuff that's not there.
4
Are these chips serialized? What does the 'calibration' software do? I'm wondering how hard it would be to come up with substitute chips. They've done it for printer cartridges.
4
@n-11ordoskirata70 Just so. What's worse is that the best and perhaps only way to win an argument is to attempt to understand your opponent's position. The "I'm right and you're just wrong now shut up" people only make the divide worse. Anyone who says there's just one obvious answer (other than in a few cases) is just not putting any mental effort into the discussion and is just knee-jerking. You should be able to strip down and take your opponent's argument apart like you're rebuilding a car engine, not just call them names and then block them.
4
@rossmanngroup Note also that they didn't even tell you you were watching a downgraded stream. How many people continue to pay for 4k even when they're not using it?
4
Wrong way on a one-way street... Great song.
4
The way of the left. Never mind if something is effectual as long as the virtue signalling is accomplished.
4
@rossmanngroup OK, that describes the dollar but what about crypto?
4
@anemoneyas A lot of that is due to zoning, unfortunately. Some areas are starting to experiment with mixed usage to put people closer to the services they use.
4
They also sent a bunch of people home and started paying them more than they were earning working. You couldn't plan a shit-show so well (unless they actually did).
4
@Prophetofcthulhu Imagine if New Yorkers would stop voting for people embezzling tax money. Economies of scale should give cities like NYC incredibly low tax rates. Yet taxes are high and services are shitty.
4
In the stock market they call this front-running (it's a literal different but I think there are comparisons to be made).
3
I managed to crack one putting it in my back pocket for ten minutes. Fortunately, the last thing I had done with it was back it up. I was able to get by borrowing the one from my phone (another reason to like phones which support external memory).
3
@christykail3314 I wasn't too happy with WD after their recent secret shingling escapade so I bought some ironwolfs. OK so far. One has had a link error but checked out fine after I pulled it so I think it's just a bad sata cable.
3
Seriously.
3
Wow, doing it in the first place is bad but doing it after an update? That's tantamount to stealing. I think we need to find a decent quality printer and come up with a community firmware for it.
3
@DJRaffa1000 Lots of audio stuff isn't usb-c though. Like my car or my fancy wired headphones. That would require a dongle. Many people won't care and that's fair but it's an option I like to have.
3
It's gone so quick since you cut Eugene loose. I hope other NYC people get to see this and avoid being taken in by people like him going forward.
3
Just to be clear here, this was their definition when they first placed it into their dictionary in 2018. It's still bullshit but you're going to get called out if you say they changed it or that it's new.
3
@rossmanngroup I've said for a while that the model needs to make the financial incentives work properly. The way YouTube does things makes things all out of whack. Patreon/subscribestar redresses it a little but it's still a mess. Rumble and co are basically reproducing the YouTube model so don't really address things.
3
I think they're different subdivisions so the others are likely still doing good work. It's like how Sony is compartmentalized.
3
@triduck I think there are still some dumb TVs out there. I think Sceptre is one who still makes them.
3
@ThePopo4 A crisp 480p is often perfectly adequate.
3
Also, if you can download the service manual, it will show you which screws go where.
3
Dude, you're an influencer. People want to be influenced.
3
@ConeOfArc I'd say most things could be learned online. In the lectures I attended, most of the interactivity was typically not all that useful and that was in classes that were much smaller than is typically the case in the US.
3
@dolorlux4612 It's fishing with a net but I'm not sure what the reference is either and I'm familiar with most methods of sailing the high seas.
3
There was a off-ramp near me where traffic would back on to the interstate during evening rush hour. Though there was an obvious easy fix, I postulated nothing would be done until someone was killed. Unfortunately, I was proven right.
3
@glorgau Important to remember that it's quite easy to become a realtor so it's not like it has to be a calling or anything. Thinking about it, it's something where an online service that facilitates "for sale by owner" could really be disruptive.
3
It's just a guess but it's possible that this line is at 5V at all times (or at least when it's plugged in), even when the rest of the computer is off. This would make it more susceptible to corrosion, especially with the computer not being on meaning it would be cold and condensation would hang around.
3
@cinnavision Did he use a credit card? They'd probably have his name.
3
That's actually understandable. What makes me scratch my head is when the fanboys repeat that crap.
3
@TomikaKelly Then it's not free delivery. It's not rocket science.
3
@Johncw87 The left was concerned about harassment of people of Asian descent until it turned out to be the wrong racial group doing the harassing.
3
Also worth bearing in mind from Louis' recent videos is that buying a used Tesla means you're closer to that $20k battery replacement fee. That would buy you a very decent new-used car.
3
Not an option to remove the sim card?
3
LOL. Oh wait, you said real journalist. That's a search worthy of Diogenes.
