When did he tell his anti-vax supporters that they were 32 times as likely to die of covid compared with the vaccinated? When did he urge people to get vaccinated? When did he acknowledge that there is no good evidence whatever that ivermectin works? When did he say that relying on natural immunity without vaccination would have meant one million dead in the UK alone? Frankly, if you are claiming some sort of medical education then you should be ashamed of supporting this snake-oil merchant.

And of course your unconvinced by the US government output. You're endlessly told to be sceptical of it by the Republicans and by a ridiculously low-grade press, because you people have somehow managed to politicise this thing. No, he doesn't correct mistakes. He made a big one in this broadcast (claiming natural immunity to all pathogens, which is pure nonsense). He hasn't corrected himself on this.

  10. @Pure Breed Don't be silly. Flu, bird flu and various other viruses fluctuate in strength from year to year. Some years they are incredibly mild. Some years they kill millions (1918, for instance). There is nothing to say that viruses only get milder.

  12.  @markabrahams2191  You miss the point, of course. The point is that viruses mutate, and it isn't inevitable that they weaken their impact on the hosts in the process. I was merely pointing this out, although I shouldn't have to as it is so obvious. Thos saying that omicron is the effective end of Covid might be right, but they might not, as it is perfectly possible that a vartiant could emerge which pushes Omicron out as fast as it came in, and that new variant might easily be just as dangerous as Delta.

There is literally no smallpox left on the planet other than in two extremely high security labs. The polio vaccine does produce a very small number of cases of polio.....3 in a million, but you need to compare that with the 5,000 cases per million that were otherwise occuring in outbreak areas. You vaccine sceptics always present just half the story, and should be ashamed of yourselves. Your first link doesn't work, and your second produced security alerts. Luckily I have decent anti-virus protection.

That's pretty predictable, given that anti-vaxxers are of below average intelligence. The biggest single predictor of vaccine uptake is educational achievement.....the poorer your school record, the more likely you are to refuse the vaccines. Only an extremist could possibly get their knickers in a twist about waiting another week or two until the trend in UK hospital admissions is clearly established.

Apologies for assuming that your rabid anti-everything stance meant you were an anti-vaxxer. It's normally a good way of flushing them out, as is seeing "sheep" or "sheeple" in their posts. Anyway, your paranoid fear of a few minor public health controls suggests you have issues, so maybe have a little look at an anger management course, for your own good. I simply don't understand how anyone can be so angry about waiting a week for the figures to firm themselves up. If hospital admissions remain low, if Omicron becomes and remains the all-but-exclusive variant in circulation, and if there are no other matters arising, then fine. At that stage it would be great to see a reduction in the public health measures in place. Until then, frothing at the mouth and spewing bile all over the internet isn't good for your health, so I respectfully suggest you step away from the keyboard for a while.

I posted another link earlier with precisely the same summary: the PCR test only picks up covid (and does that very well)....and they're proposing a replacement which detects covid, flu, and another respiratory illness. There has never been any inaccuracy in the PCR test, and it has never counted flu as covid, but the new test will simply be a one-stop-shop for any respiratory disease. It's unimaginable to me how something that simple could be twisted into something bizarre about falsely including flu in covid results.

  28.  @snipergw7676  I've been to Angola. There isn't the slightest chance of them recording any cases of anything. If you died of smallpox there they wouldn't have a record. This is one of the most backward places on the planet. See if you can find out how many people died of rabies in Angola in any particular year. Or malaria. The former kills hundreds every year, the latter tens of thousands. There won't be any sort of reliable record of either. If you have to base your argument on Angolan health statistics, you haven't got an argument.

I worked on some of the early sea temperature analysis in the late 70s which even back then, before computers and satellites, showed that the planet was warming substantially. There isn't the slightest doubt about the science. In fact, there is probably more doubt about gravity than about climate change.

I've actually crunched numbers myself as part of published papers on the subject. It is nothing to do with herd mentality (the very opposite is what drives science: extreme competitiveness). It's all about the numbers, as it is with vaccines and covid. Glaciers melting could possibly lead to an ice age around the north Atlantic, but that won't change the planet-wide problem of over-heating. There's a reason it's called climate change rather than the old-fashioned global warming. Now, as far as evolution is concerned, if you are a creationist, you don't have any right to open you mouth on any scientific subject.

If there is ever a proper double blind randomised study with a control group that shows efficacy, I'll be delighted, but at the moment, this is snake oil.

Anyway, there has been no clinical trial which has shown efficacy of ivermectin. There have been some fraudulanet trials published, with lots of copy-pasta, and there have been a lot of small poorly conducted trials using self-reporting and self-selection, without any control group, and without any blinding or randomisation. The statistical work has been universally appalling. There hasn't been a single large double blinded randomised trial published. So, at the moment, ivermectin for covid has zero........zero........evidence in support. I'll be the first to cheer if a proper trial ever shows it works, but at the moment, it is snake oil.

Self selecting and self reporting, with no control group.....it's hard to see how they could be worse trials without involving actual fraud. If there is ever any evidence this drug works for covid, I'll be the first to cheer. But there isn't. And of course, if there were such evidence NICE would be recommending it. There's a damn good reason they aren't.

If you don't vaccinate anyone, and allow the virus to run amock (ie no lockdowns etc), then1.6% of the population will die, even if that is skewed towards the older end of the population.
