One of my favorite checks when I hook up scan tool is to watch fuel trims and pump the brakes and watch the vacuum change the fuel trims . Before even opening the hood . Quick and dirty test
6
Soldering is an Art like welding. I have soldered from the late 70s never had a problem. That was a bubba repair
6
For cooling systems I get distilled water only cost $1 at most stores. And I love my Airvac system, especially on big leaks

One of your best videos. Follow up video would be awesome. FYI the lisle on car valve spring keeper tool works great. 👊🏻

I started as GM tech in those days . Now we have VVT that needs a electric vacuum pump because of low vacuum due to valve overlap ect
4
Yeah never buy from Amazon or eBay . I try not to use any aftermarket replacement parts either

It sounds like a rod but condemning the motor before tear down 🤔

A ASE wave U scope and wand is reasonable and is quick and easy way to rule out coil and spark plugs. Old school works . Till switching coils with a defective coil windings smokes the driver

We hate leaks
3
Love my lisle stud installers . I have both the car and truck one

Amazing how many people think their hands are torque wrenches . They get away with it for most jobs but it’s going to catch up to them. It’s like roller skating down the expressway. You can get away with it for a while but then luck runs out. I’ve been a technician from the late 70s seen it. Also people that have a torque spec of say 80ft pounds they go straight to 80 instead of increments of 1/3 . Like 30-60-80ft
3
Made in China 🙅🏼♂️🤦🏼 though did you see the sticker
3
Clogged exhaust will push gases backup into the intake increases intake air temperature and can affect air flow and the grams per sec
3
Got to empty and refill every 20k they last longer. Otherwise 130k it’s over
3
@jeffreyb8770 $25 bucks is pricey and it’s used over and over . Fluid cost $9 bottle

When ever I work on my flux capacitor I always disconnect the neutron cable before the proton cable so as not to upset the plutonium balance
2
With the key out of the ignition on most newer vehicles it won’t activate the tail lights. The little black button lock must line up with the slot and the detent most remove counter clockwise the ford escort is clock wise to remove opposite to install . Quick tip 😉
2
Awesome job . I would loved to have done a Ripple test on it seems it was charging at 14.5 + volts . 👍🏻
2
That’s crazy my 07 jk Jeep has Denso it’s just now starting to have a little whistle but still charging and low Ac Ripple. But it’s old
2

2
Excellent diagnosis
2
@bigdaddymak1439 true but the modules go out and can be expensive if you can find them depending on the year and make
2
My 2c put a head gasket in or put blue devil in it and drive it till it dies . Not worth a motor
2
Look at . Fixing cars with 15th street automotive. He did a great video on injectors a month ago
2
I used a screwdriver back in the early 70s but a $10 lisle stethoscope is soo much clearer
2
Great video lots of good diag
2
I used keep mine in the garage till race days then I went to drag strip and dominated Chevys and fords 😁
2
Test resistor then test the motor if resistor is good replace the motor. That’s my 2c
2
Japanese designed it for small Asian fingers. Great for proctologists but suck for big America fingers 😄
2
It’s gets harder when they are under the timing cover lot more to remove and re time and align
2
Nissan they are driven. Normally to get the CVT replaced at 150k 😉
2
Chrysler gets most of their parts made in Mexico they are always problems. Ie star connector for can bus , Ac condensers . They last maybe a year or two .

@jthonn it actually causes oxidation and corrosion in the cooling system. Look it up it’s not just tech school science. Even the 50/50 mix antifreeze says it on the jug
1
I think ford made every one of their vehicles hard to work on after 1970😄

One of my neighbors came to me because he knows I used to be technician at several dealerships. I always help my neighbors. He drove up in a BMW he was wanting to buy . It was 9 years old and has 130k on it. I told him I would not buy it. He bought it as of today I’ve replaced starter throttle body and several other repairs. Now it sits in his driveway and he doesn’t drive it . Thinks he going to get $9000 for it 🤦🏼♂️

1
@coreybabcock2025 yup you can get by sometimes. Like roller skating down the interstate. But one day it bites ya . If ya can’t get a torque wrench on it I get it . But if you can it is best to torque. Sooo you got lucky
