Ukraine has 300K troops but if you look at any map, pro-Ukraine, pro-Russia, neutral they all show the same units in the same place and you can see at least 130,000 of AFU is Territorial Defense Units. These are 57 year old men, long past their prime and good only for static defense (hence the name of their units). So, in terms of offensive high-quality combat strength AFU is only about 170,000. Of course all of this assumes full strength brigades and everyone knows that isn't true of AFU now after three months of brutal fighting. If AFU has 125,000 able bodied 1st line soldiers as of today I'd be surprised. The evidence of this is piling up and becoming impossible to ignore; they simply do not have enough assault troops anymore. Even their FPV drone displays look like cheap toys versus the Russian ones that look like they cost 10x as much. The blockade in the Black Sea is having its effect; Ukraine was smuggling tons of arms in those grain ships and now that the big ones are completely blocked the impact on AFU is unmistakable.

  6. I have noticed over the months two things. The AFU FPV drones were more numerous before June, since then there has been a decrease in vids on many channels and many said it was due to intense Russian jamming near the front. Also, you can tell the Russian FPV drones are more sophisticated, their display doesn't look like the one from racing drone you buy on Amazon, it looks more "military"...nothing pretty, all business. The rotors look more robust, that last vid the drone appears to be at 3000 ft or more altitude. The Russian drones are manufactured, not homemade.

  7. I think it was March or so when I started seeing Kursk 1943 all over again; even the town names were similar: Poltava, Belgorod, Mariupol, Kiev. They are literally fighting in the exact same area as 80 years ago. I thought "Russia will just do what they did back then as they are on the defensive, their rear is secure, and they have a lot more soldiers." Nothing I've seen in the past 6 months has changed my opinion.

  8. I have to give you credit (again) for giving us the details that help us understand what is REALLY going on in this war. You and a few others, simply cannot fully appreciate how little actual truth makes it to the front page of BBC/CNN/Telegraph/MSNBC etc. A couple weeks ago you explained how the coming muddy season was partially behind RU forces pushing hard to establish footholds inside various towns all along the front, as they knew that once the mud came, dislodging them until June would be almost impossible for AFU. Sure enough, we see a few days ago, AFU vehicles stuck in the mud and we now all know there will be no Abrams until June---it would get stuck or blown up within hours. 99% of us are not Ukrainians/Russians so it is these details that give us a far deeper understanding. I sometimes see articles on Western news and I really just shake my head incredulously: their readers don't hold them accountable because THEY DON'T KNOW ANY DIFFERENT THEMSELVES (AND DO NOT WANT TO KNOW).   10. Those of us who study history and were well versed in Russia long before this war have been vindicated. Just last week I posted on an article here how I just could not figure out why Russia is holding back. CNN types say Russia is stupid vodka-swilling incompetents, their economy a shambles, none of their equipment works, and they'd run away when the first Leopard 2 showed up. I knew none of that was true, but there was little objective proof-----until now. Russian defeated two of the largest armies in history in Napoleon and Hitler; by all accounts they should have turned all of Ukraine to rubble and steamrolled whatever was left 18 months ago. Putin's measured methodology is what created Prigozhin; many on the Far Right in Russia have long excoriated Putin for being too soft. Well, I guess Putin has waited long enough.

  12. Its been months since we have seen a TOS-1A Solntsepyok destroyed; two years ago you'd see at least 1 or 2 taken out per month. About a year ago RU boosted the range from 12km to 17km and that difference clearly has allowed them to remain out of reach of fpv drones. Small changes can have big results

Talk to someone who lives in the Urals and let them tell you what they've seen. Once the enemy attack is spent, they go on the offensive with a tsunami of new equipment and the steamroller doesn't stop until Berlin.

  14. Also do not underestimate the impact the Naval Blockade is having. Ukraine was also getting a ton of lower-end stuff via these so called "grain ships". Small arms, grenades, etc. and componentry that was civilian, but they could use to make into weapons. That has dried up to a trickle now and while it took a while to have any effect, the past few weeks that effect is unmistakable.

  15. Almost everyone who is objective on this, Weeb, HL, Military Summary said Robotyne looked like a trap; those fields have no Russian defenses because an open field is indefensible. I'm certain Zaluzhny knew it was a trap too but Ukraine has to have more than an empty town of 500 to show for three months and $20B in NATO training and weapons. Ukraine trading lives for land, while Russia trading land for time.

Ukraine about to be taught the same exact lesson the Wehrmacht learned precisely 80 years ago: having a better tank means little when the enemy outnumbers you, has had time to prepare, and knows you're coming. When they reach the real defenses, all those flat plains of shimmering grain give very little cover, and behind every copse will be a 100mm sniper. While artillery falls like rain, drones will dive out of the sky like angry hornets; driving those that flee right into an anti-tank mine. At night, Kamov Ka-52s hover unmolested, taking their time on thermal sights to blast anything that moves. TOS-1A thermobaric shells will suck the air out of Ukrainian lungs, before the detonation obliterates them, ending their suffering. If somehow, incredibly after all that a Ukrainian vehicle emerges unscathed, the T-90M, now being built at a rate of 100 per month, will blow it to bits. Not with 100,000 men could Ukraine do this...

  20. As a long time IT guy, seeing the Russians use a 10km fiber optic cable for direct, un-jammable control of their FPV drone really lights me up. Only possible problem is you can follow the cable directly to the source; but if YOU are the one advancing probably not a big risk. 10km of single-mode fiber is about $1500 in the US, but from China I'd bet its only half that much. $700 bucks to make your FPV drone have double the range and immune from jamming is why Russia always wins on its home turf.

  21. The appearance of the Ukranian Territorial Defense units and say, the marines in Krynky could not be more different. They look like they are from two different nation's armies; the territorial guys look like their equipment and weapons are from 1980s Soviet-era, while the ones in Krynky look like NATO-standard soldiers. Always remember that it was UK that (Proudly) trained the AFU marines in Krynky; they cannot withdraw without having some means of hiding their failure as it will reflect poorly on Britain's SAS. BBC ran many stories about it; making the British military elite look bad is something Zelensky cannot afford to do; they have to come up with a cover story.

  22. This is the Russian Steamroller I've been waiting to see now for over a year. Just as in 1943: let the enemy attack come, bend but don't break. Absorb the blows while constantly wearing them down with artillery and small counter-attacks,the whole time the factories in Siberia run day and night building a mountain of weapons and ammo. When the enemy attack finally slows, start the steamroller. The steamroller moves slowly---it is nothing like "blitzkrieg"---but it never, ever stops. The enemy never gets a chance to rest, even if it only moves 100 meters a day, that is 100 meters the enemy will never set foot on again. It isn't pretty or glamorous or dramatic, but it is 100% effective at winning a war.

  25. Mining buildings is straight out of USSR playbook. At Stalingrad, Kursk, etc. the Red Army would retreat from towns and lay mines and bombs everywhere. Some timed for 30 days later. Wehrmacht troops would be eating breakfast three weeks after taking the town thinking they are safe and the whole building blows up. Von Paulus, Von Bock, and Von Runstedt used to complain bitterly about the tactic.

  26. A former US general was interviewed and at least I now have understanding of Macron's crazy words. Some NATO members (not all, but about 4 or 5) want to "officially" send their soldiers into Ukraine, but ONLY to do logistics, medical, and air defense. Macron is trying to get a group to do this; they believe they can tell the Russians they will not perform any offensive duties, just rear-area work and shooting down drones/missiles. Macron thinks this can free up many AFU who can then be sent to the front and this former General agrees. Neither Macron or the General offer an explanation as to why in the hell Russia would agree to such an arrangment------what could possibly be the benefit to Russia to accept that??

Even if the numbers we are hearing about Russian production are only half right, that is a tsunami of weapons on the way NATO simply cannot give away to Ukraine without impoverishing themselves and/or making themselves defenseless. Just like in late 1943, when the Russian steamroller starts, only the Russians themselves can stop it.

  32. Weeb Union today showed how many AFU brigades are in Sumy sector and I was surprised; its about thirty thousand . That 10K , 12K number from a month ago was either wrong then, or Napolensky sent far more into Kursk than I thought. It actually makes sense too, because a couple days ago the Chechen commander in Kursk said a lot about the battle and mentioned that AFU had sent 200 tanks into Kursk battle. That kind of shocked me as that many tanks meant way more than 12K troops committed. Now I learn its more like 30K committed and it lines up. That is a HUGE force to throw away being ground down in Kursk for basically nothing. Unbelievable....."

  35. I read that the T-80BV is the tank spearheading near Konstantinovka. As a kid I used to read all the Tom Clancy spy novels and at that time the T-80 was the newest and most feared Russian tank. Before the Wall fell, the amount of information that came out of the USSR was so small, no one who wasn't alive then could understand it with all the information we have from Russia today. The T-80 was almost mythical to my 10 year old mind because I had to use mostly my imagination as there were no clear photos of it published in any Western magazine." That picture is no surprise to me, as I've said for 18 months no one can beat Russia in a land war on its own turf, "on the cheap". It CAN be done, but it would take MILLIONS of soldiers, YEARS of time, and TRILLIONS of dollars. I believe NATO has known this all along, and was never really trying to "beat" Russia, just weaken them enough that maybe Zelensky could get better terms than what he had a year ago. That has failed.

The Kharkiv mail depot blown up yesterday became a target because Ukraine's rail network has been destroyed by the aerial blitz of the past two months. They have to use trucks to move arms and ammo now, making the mail hub a target. Russia has shot down 15 AFU planes in three days. Once Russia starts a large push in one or two more sectors, Ukraine's defense will crack suddenly like an eggshell that reached its limit.

  48. People gonna believe what they want; even if Ukraine MoD reported their casualties, most of those hopeful for them to win would not believe it. Even a pro-Ukraine channel like Binkovs Battlegrounds today summarized MINIMUM Ukraine vehicle losses at FIVE HUNDRED since June 1st; including 117 tanks and 190 APC/IFV. It simply is not possible for Ukraine to have destroyed a similar amount of Russian vehicles because Russia is not on the offensive, AFU has far less artillery, and no air force----it just defies logic when people say "Ukraine is inflicting more casualties on Russians" and I read dozens of comments like that every day. They just believe "NATO magic" negates all objective reason.

  49. A lot of Western NATO types believe Russia cannot financially sustain this much longer; they believe the way to get some kind of positive outcome is to stretch it for as long as possible. I think that's why NATO is freaking out so much about North Korean troops (who are green and very few and not really a large tactical threat). If NK can speed up the timeline to AFU collapse, then their plan of "waiting it out for RU economic collapse" is in jeopardy....

  50. NATO built their armored vehicle "brand" on gun superiority for the past 40 years; better range and better accuracy. Both now almost completely negated by the terrain of this war as no tank can see another vehicle at 2 or 3 km through treelines to use that "superior" gun. That Ukrainian T-64 was shot in the azz from 30 meters away; it drove right past an ambush point and was completely unaware. An Abrams doing that will explode just the same.
