  4. The daughter had stocks and a good paying job she only recently resigned from in an earlier episode. She paid for three months in advance for that room. Even the unni has money when the late father passed a year before. Why was the daughter needing mom to pay her cards and provide a car? I feel like they threw a new writer in the middle of the series.

  10. The older two got to grow up with their dad and all the financial stability he provided. All three kids will have a harder time in life cause they don't have both parents. One parent means less connections and less financial stability. Adulthood doesn't really happen until marriage. For the eldest son he may be home forever and take over the provider role for his parents. It's good the daughter has a skill. I feel bad for her quitting school studying for her GED. It looks like the elder daughter will get to finish college, even though it's later.

  13.  @lmills9798  no he was taught. Do anything you can for your future. Self defense in Korea is not really considered. She would have been labeled a murderer and it would not have mattered what he did on a test. The shoe guy didn’t have enough money for the daughter to do great on the test. So he was willing to have the label hoping she would leave the country. The mom in part killed him to avoid the cheating scandal he and his wife had dirt on her for. In real life the Last Korean President ended up in prison all come to light because of academic dishonesty of her speechwriter’s/shadow president’s daughter. Academic fraud, illegal admission, cheating are all serious to an outsider almost more serious than any other crime. The daughter not only got kicked out of college, but they also took her high school diploma and it landed the heir of Samsung and President at the time and her mom in prison for pity sakes.

  14. Life for a divorced woman in Korea is not fun. She may have a hard time finding employment. Her kids are more likely to be picked on at school and they may also have a hard time finding work. It's not just about having a degree.

  18. There is jeonse where you give them hundreds of thousands of dollars, practically the value of the property and then a year or two later get the entire amount back. The landlord uses the money to make interest. Then there is a lump sum security and a monthly rent fee. You get back the deposit but not the monthly rent. It could be after the period was over the landlord was going to raise the deposit and/or the rent. In addition the real estate agent earns a small fee.

  21. It's getting to be too much. I loved the actress who played Nutcraker's mother in Five Children. Her character was awful most the time but there were several episodes where she was trying or actually good. Please end this silliness and turn her character around in this series, please. Fix the mom and dad's marriage or let them divorce and live happy lives. I'd like to see more of the son/pregnant daughter in law and the family downstairs. If you are going to have this many characters spend some time on them, please. I'd like the family to come up with the boys tuition through working together. There are five working family couples/members. Surely they can make a dent? Or why can't he qualify as low income and the government pay for it? Aren't there gifted public schools practically free in Korea? Why doesn't the dad start a photographing pets business?

  22. The show is meant to model current ways of thinking. They seem keen on fixing the drinking culture. And the drive to stop people from smoking. The news are full of stores and concerns about day care workers hitting children and and curbing cihld abue. Also teachers are not legally allowed to hit students for many years now. It's disappointing since the laws and views inside Korea are changing on this the hosts did not spend more time on the subject of discipline.

  23. The main difference in the US is student are also working and learning work skills at the same time as going to high school. They are also learning finances and taking on responsibilities for their own purchasing and not depending on parents well into adulthood.

  29.  @PepeLePewQTPie  surely the lower 99% are not all unhappy. Plenty of people are working jobs in Korea that did not attend SNU. Her parents are employed or they would have no money for lessons and she was just average. The child is asking to study smarter and have dinner before 10pm. She should be asleep by 10pm. Is science not a thing in South Korea? If her parents stay the course I hope she has nothing to do with them as an adult. Her mother is not obeying her parents. Why should she obey these people?

The wife could get a different job I think the son was the smartest to go into the military and do his mandatory service at that time.   44. The kids are done with school/military. Obviously mom can work. I think it’s fine he does something he wants. What isn’t fine is this pity party. He wronged both daughters and all the kids with stealing a kid and then switching the girls. They have a bone to pick with him. I don’t understand the money focus. I think they had too much money. If they grew up in an apartment or villa unit like almost everyone else they would have been happy their entire lives.
