  4. In the Great Depression stocks were driven up by high leverage by the average people. When companies hit the skids the big maney pulled out and the people on leverage lost what little money that they hand. Many companies closed down to avoided more losses.

  16. @bpb5541  I don't know where you got your figures from, but many folks figure that the buying power of the dollar is only worth 2 cents. I am 77, and I compare what things cost to my pay over the years. The truth is that most people don't really know what the dollar is really, do they?

My mother had it for several years. I am a combat veteran who has seen many bad things, but her dementia was very hard on me.

The last 6 months of 13 they put me with a Marine unit at a fuel dump that was mortared twice. After I was out they wanted me to work in Nicaragua and Honduras or train bush soldiers in S Africa..

  46. I don't understand why some people can't get loans or credit? Some of us are being offered big loans, both business and personal loans. Are banks scared of weak payers? Are the banks just being more business like? Do they really have the money to do so?
