I wasn't referring to top end cars like Lucid or Rimac, there are plenty others like Fisker, Alpha and a bundle of Chinese ones, besides Tesla has been around since about 2007 and is supported by more money than any car maker like Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, BMW etc, they simply can't use that as an excuse. The Tesla S is yet another dreary design, blatantly derivative of the 2008 Jaguar XF. Tesla delays are also due to chip shortages and issues with Chinese supply of other components. They have loads of factories so not being able to make them quick enough isn't an excuse either. People have always bought boring cars to look at, look at the entire US or Asian production. No style and no soul. It's not a reason to keep selling shit, outdated designs is it?

  10.  @victorstewart395  Mate, Tesla isn't a start up. It hasn't been since BEFORE the Model S. It's had cars in production for the best part of two decades. I realise you live in America where you are quite backwards in regards to the cars you get over there, but I don't think you realise how many more options are available here. It isn't my opinion that Tesla's are crap, need I remind you that I have driven them and you by your own admission can't afford one. My issue is that they are DREARY design, typicslly poor American quality control and that utter twat Elon Musk is the boss.

  11.  @victorstewart395  It's not a newcomer either. It's a well established brand by now. The point is that it defines American laziness. Poor design and build quality. It's only doing well because it got there first. Time will tell in a few years. Other companies are already building far nicer cars.

  12.  @victorstewart395  I'm not even really disagreeing, but you are making claims about Tesla that you're having to back out of. My beef about Tesla is that if I spend £52,000 on a car I don't want it to look like it's 20k and put together badly. Tesla is like a lot of things, it's made for the person with zero emotion or interest in cars, but that's mass market appeal isn't it? Just like people buy a 911 as a sportscar, a Range Rover as an SUV, or a Ford F150 as a pickup, it's the boring choice for the unimaginative Nothing wrong with Tesla, I just want to spend my money on something that excites me in ALL ways, and sitting in it, looking at it, doesn't match it's one good point, it's speed.

Even less likely in these sort of vehicles whilst the behaviour you mention is far more common among louts and chavs in crap like Fiesta and Corsa knocking people down than in SUV's. Most accidents between pedestrians and cars that are the fault of the driver are YOUNG drivers, not SUV drivers.

  31.  @christhedoc8689  Completely untrue. The fact there are factories in the US doesn't mean they are designed and engineered there. Name one model from either that is American like the Ford Mondeo, Focus, Fiesta, escape etc are European in origin. It was the same at Buick too by the way.

  32.  @christhedoc8689  Transit, transit connect, EcoSport, the old Ford Kuga, Ford Puma whilst head of Ford design for many years was a Brit. How is the Escape codesigned by Mazda? They don't use a Ford platform for any of their models anymore. The claim was BMW and Merc were designed and engineered in USA, that's bollocks. The Mondeo has had numerous iterations and all have been European in origin in terms of design and engineering. US markets just rebadged them under a different name

Im saying it doesnt matter in the UK as you should have winter tyres, drive appropriately for the conditions and if the roads are bad, why go out? 99.9999% of the time British roads are fine. I live in Scotland and even here winters are fine. We arent in the Alps or Northern Scandinavia, we live in a temperate maritime climate and conditions are fine virtually the entire year.

  43. I think Tesla are doomed in Europe and Asia with their absolutely unacceptably dreary designs. Other marques are just blowing them put of the water. They'll do fine in the US where car design is 20 years behind the civilised world, but unless they step up design who is going to buy a weird looking Y or boring 3 over all this new competition?
