The Ford years were the best years for Aston, to me. Same with Volvo.
8
Never heard it referred to that. They sold very well because the price was significantly less than the S500 with less standard features.
7
Can't stand the digital gauges in the newer BMWs.
6
Blah blah blah. "Muh brands better." So petty. The parts for those German cars also cost 5 times more
6
Would still be going for a base 997 over this
6
Late 2000s. Their most reliable gasoline engine and transmission ever, the M112/M113 and 722.6, was made until then. Both designed before DaimlerChrysler. Quickly downhill after
6
Wheels are way too large today.
6
Always wanted one of these but opted for an older V70 with the great I5 instead. Wagons are the best!
6
@dimitrypetrov6222 GS400 too
6
@malooch Probably 80s and 90s
6
It's body on frame. It's a truck.
6
@TedwardDrives Variable racks are terrible to me.
6
Entry pricing is on par with a G90 Ultimate. I'm able to work on the Maybach so I'd go with this. The Zeppelin trim of Maybachs are insane. Put them on your list.

@rahulmandala4930 The W220 (assuming it isn't an ABC model or in a salty environment) is the most reliable generation of S-Class ever made, plagued by all sorts of myths. M113 and 722.6. The W221 is close but the forced induction models don't even come close. A W140 paired with W220 engine/transmission would be the ideal combo.
5
Any Donkervoort, a KTM X-Bow, Ariel Atom, or maybe even a Beck or Morgan 3-Wheeler. But the Caterhams remain my favorite.
5
One of my favorites. Please drive a DS. The french got suspensions so right.
5
@TedwardDrives Early Kia Soul ads went for the same people
5
Respectable build but I wouldn't go with the black Rays or carbon hood.
5
I've learned to brake proactively and basically babysit these kind of morons when they're that close. If they're stupid enough to follow you at that distance, they're stupid enough to run into you.
5
@ThaddeusFairbanks55 Special variants of white are also premium options on European and Japanese cars. It's not an American thing.
5
Original wheels fit it much better
5
An undergrad math professor I had was an engineer in the Geo division lol
4
Would be very interested to see you drive a Beck now and see the differences. I doubt many Beck owners have even driven an original.
4
You can't be serious. A "Corona believer"? Stop trying to politicize that.
4
Won't rust on the fenders... Riiight. We'll see
4
@RyanRoadReaper Don't think so. First year of facelifted one was on the market in US during the last year of W220. Compare facelift to W221. But I still think the W220 aged beautifully (I like simpler lights of pre-facelift cars)
4
@dillo2916 The Tiburon really was junk though
4
So much amazing character you'll never find in a modern car
4
cookiemonster9 That would be the Elan. Caterhams were always the more purist choice.
4
I remember seeing the Transsyberia variant (GTS engine and final drive) new at the dealer and stunned that someone would want it with the gaudy orange accents and gauges. Didn't realize there were about 100 in the country and it would have such a following
4
Such great cars
4
Preferable to me in every single way over the new GT
4
I think I'd prefer the lighter aluminum body of the 206 too
4
Poop sock Nah, it's what Daniel said.
4
Way more quiet than modern luxury BEVs. The amount of sound dampening material in this car is nuts
4
Coming soon to a Corvette dealer near you.

E65/66 are genuinely the worst vehicle you could own if you don't do the work yourself. It's not just the engine problems that the later V8 cars suffered from. The rest of the car has parts that are outrageously expensive and unnecessary. Actually wouldn't mind putting up with it for a good 760, though. The W220 S-Class is extremely cheap to maintain in comparison with less complexity (even with the hydropneumatic ABC suspension). The design sure does look great compared to modern BMWs
3
AWD cars will never be the best "driver's choice" to me for so many reasons, compared to FR, but I'm glad people enjoy them.
3
@unintelligibility They are both already desirable classics. Obviously any AMG wagon will always carry more value
3
He should be focusing on EV efficiency because they aren't competitive in that regard right now
3
GM's electric offerings are simply more inefficient than something like Tesla's. Longer charging times for the same range.
3
@blewyd They don't really have an excuse other than raising the numbers each time. Part of marketing heuristics nonsense. If people weren't so gullible they wouldn't do it.
3
Maybach 57/62 Zeppelin. The ultimate form of the W220 S65.
3
@TommyNoBaka It's funny how polar opposites the MB and BMW V8s were of the era. The MB M113 was as easy and cheap as a small block GM V8. And then BMW thinks it's wise to have such things like water-cooled alternators
3
You can thank the Chinese for forcing Lotus to be a luxury/EV competitor
3
I just don't think the mechanical quality (and much of the trim) matches the asking price with modern Rolls-Royces.
3
I remember when Testarossas were the choice affordable Ferrari. I went to a Dodge dealership and saw a nice yellow one going for $45k or so because someone traded it in on a gen-4 Viper
3
@TedwardDrives Don't be afraid to get on the horn.
3
997 GT3 RS. But I would do a lot to drive this on a track.
3
Same thing was in Buicks of the 90s.
