In the 2017 Dunkirk Movie their is a shot of a British sailor firing at a German Aircraft from an AA mount that holds twin Bren guns, i'm aware single Lewis guns were mounted to ships but never twin Bren's, was this ever done or are the Brens being used in place of something else that sould be in the mount and if so what?

Assuming Hiei managed to limp home from her knife fight at Guadalcanal and that Mutsu doesn't explode and both ships are with there respective sisters in the Center Force at Layte Gulf, could the extra ships, assuming they don't sink in the air attacks with Musashi, have made Halsey consider leaving Task Force 34 behind to cover the San Bernardino Strait or at least made Lee press the case to leave Task Force 34 behind stronger? And what do you think Lee's reaction would be at fighting this new Centre Force with Task Force 34?

How did the Japanese Navy behave with enemy crews that they captured the way soldiers were treated is quite well documented but there is the unwritten rule of every sailor’s enemy is the sea so were they treated well or bad or was it that on the ship they were treated fairly but once on land it was Geneva Convention is the “cowards code” to quote Bridge on the River Kiwi.

A friend of mine went to see HMS Vicotry and ever since he makes the joke that if HMS Victory was destroyed the Royal Navy would have found a way to sail the Nelson class to Berlin and deliver 16 inch anger do you think they would try and failing that what would the Royal Navies reaction have been if the Victory had been Destroyed i imagine the Kriegsmarine and Regia Marina words upon hearing this would be "Mummy"

I'm a little curious, these modified 16 inch shells where did the Japanese get them from, were they from the stockpile meant for Tosa and Kaga and what was the thinking behind developing them, were the Japanese trying to make the closest thing to flying the Nagato's in the air and having them fire on to enemy battleship decks?

  26. An alternate history question for you Drachinifel. Assuming that the Amagi and Akagi (not Atago and Takao) were not damaged in the earthquakes and they had been finished as planned battlecruisers and in their place the Kongo and Hiei had been made into carrier conversions how would both groups of ships have done? Assuming Kongo and Hiei had a similar style conversion as Akagi and the two Amagi's have been modernized to be fast battleships along with the Haruna and Kirishima with the latter two being done as they were historically?

How much authority does an admiral have over their flagship as i have read a couple of captains over ruling their admirals orders like the Bismark captain so is it a case that the captain is responsible for the fleet while the captain is responsible for the ship so if a group of battleships are ordered to move in a battle but the captain of the flagship feels his ship can't do it he can over rule the admiral
