In 2014 I was worth €6 million After the novelty wore off, I was not happy, but being a good capitalist I thought "well, it must be because Im not rich ENOUGH, a few more million will make me happy" Scroll forwards to now - I lost everything due to brain damage suffered in a mugging BUT... I can already see that my thinking, even at that low level of wealth, had started to completely change. 1) The inability to see that no amount of money would ever make me happy, if €6 million cant fix it, €100 million won't, you are unhappy cos you are messed up 2) my lack of attention to the rules and norms of society, like parking restriction, they didn't apply to me cos I could afford the fine. Billionaires might not start off psychopaths, but 100% of billionaires ARE psychopaths.

AS AN AUTHUR I have said for years "We Europeans, we warned you, we wanted you of the society you were going to create, and you laughed at us and pointed to your GDP" And this is EXACTLY what I meant. I was always struck that Europeans reading that understood what I meant and Americans reading it just thought "YEAH look at our GDP, its the biggest". I didnt believe that Americans even had the capacity to understand the point I was making, so I was never happy with the comment.

IM A 54 YEAR OLD EUROPEAN let me tell you the worst medical horror story from the people I have known over the last 54 years of my life - my brother-in-law once had to wait 3 WEEKS for a doctor's appointment...!!! Thats not a joke - he once has to wait 3 weeks, the doctors was short-staffed after the pandemic. My point is, this is genuinely the WORST medical story I have after 54 years of life.

MY BUSINESS in Britain closed in 2009 whenever order cancelled because the US banks had collapsed the global financial markets, I had to LEAVE the country to be able to afford to live and it was not even MY government that failed to regulate properly - WE did not vote for deregulation YOU did. Yet my company had to file for bankruptcy...! So you guys think YOU are badly done to...!?!?!?

  24.  @nogrimley4663  YES it is - I cant quite tell what it is but I THINK it is a wool "loden" cloth which is an Austrian wool with a "nap" a fluff but the fluff is directional and it looks like a shine. Its a beautiful cloth and very water resistant.

  25. This is exactly what they did with the old cotton and wool mills in the UK Divided them up into 1500sq ft open plan blocks AND SOLD THEM AT A HUGE PROFFIT. If you can do it with a 150-year-old stone-built mill - you can do it with an office block.

  39.  @somethingaboutQwerty  - Its not "super costly" - its just the cost of doing business. You put risers through the floors every 50 feet and put 4 bathrooms around each one. The riser blocks even come prefabricated. Here in Bulgaria houses and apartments are built like this all the time cos we have post, rail and slab construction due to the earthquakes. so before the exterior walls and interior walls get put in a Bulgarian apartment block looks exactly like an open plan office.

  41. Yeah that has to be tough - I am genuinely sorry for you. Have you thought of moving to a country that is not collapsing - there are lots of them. Im not being sarcastic, but the most exciting thing that happens in my country is when we find a new pothole in the road and report it on the app and they come and fix it and we can look at some shiny tarmak for a few days... I live in the city of Burgas Bulgaria for the record, look it up its very pretty and it has not burned down in the 6,000 years it has been here [that I know of]

  43. I NO LONGER BELIEVE IN PRISON - FULL STOP I used to until I listened to a podcast on Medieval justice and policing... Why should the wife suffer, why should the kids suffer, what good does it do the victim...? We should use restorative justice, you have to make it UP to the person, to society, not be locked away and if you are uncontrollably violent then you have a mental illness and that should be treated in a secure facility

  47. Im Britsh, I have brain damage and long covid so I am on benefits. For us its £16k not $2k. But this is the reason all my savings go into little gold coins. Gold coins are counted as assets - cos rich people have assets and we dont want to trouble them now do we. You can have a £2 million house and still get benefits but not £17k.

  50. Where i live in Bulgaria the buses [brand new battery electric] are so frequent they dnt even publish a time table, you just go and wait for the next bus, its a maximum of 7 minutes and its a flat rate of $0.80c no matter how long your journey
