NO ONE IS VOTING FOR STARMER they are voting to make the pain go away...
3
NO - the UK is suffering "Tory government" its always like this - thats why I left the day they got elected - cos I knew this was coming.
3
@andybrice2711 I think the OP is being sarcastic
3
GROW UP you baby
3
@baronvonlimbourgh1716 Yeah - the UK does not invest in infrastructure or R&D.
3
thats the target for the compulsory purchase initiative the Labour party are talking about
3
THIS GUY IS SO BAD you should never NEVER have him on to discuss political generational statistics - PEOPLE ARE BECOMING MORE LEFT WING AS THEY AGE NOW...!!! Not "getting more conservative but a little bit" A BIG SHIFT to the LEFT
3
Im now anti-monarchy cos I think its cruel and unusual punishment upon the royals...
3
@alanhat5252 - Well I have taken this time to learn about the royal family a little more, Im not a Royalist at all. But I like to be educated. The story of the early life of the Queen nearly had me in tears. She wanted to live in the countryside and be a farmer. She hated Buck Palace, which apparently is still very cold and drafty now but was horrible in the 1930's. she had to leave all her friends at 10 and go live there. Apparently her time in the ATS was the happiest of her life, she felt like she was part of something, not alone and isolated... I dont thnk we should have a family we treat as our national private property, we get to comment on their every move and they get no say in any of this. I dont think they are privileged, I think they are cursed.
3
@alanhat5252 - Well they ahve left the Houses of Parliament to all but falling down status haven't they...??? Its not like the cost of maintenance is poured down the toilet - it pays crafts person wages
3
BRITAIN SHOULD HAVE STAYED NEUTRAL IN WW2 is an argument - not one I agree with - but I am NOT keen on this "sacred cow" approach that subjects are off limits to discussion If his argument is so patently WRONG, then explain WHY his argument is wrong - dont lose it that he made the point and offer no rebuke. I can come up with 10 reasons thats a bad idea - if you cant you are either not doing your job OR his point is valid and you are blocking the debate in a Stalinesque manner
3
LITERALLY NO ONE will feel any benefit of the interest rates coming down. If you got your fixed rate last week - you are on that for another 2 or 5 years. If you get it next month well you are moving off 1% to 5% - just cost its now 6% does NOT make you happy
3
YEP
3
I doubt Labour would be hammering low income families
3
@julianshepherd2038 I dont like GG I dont agree with 80% of what he stands for - but he is ASTONISHING at exposing the hypocrisy of the ruling elites and their cosy relationship where they dont ask the tough questions and argue about trivia...!!! He is going to rip new ones all round especially Sir K and Mr S
3
@Lee_303 - You are correct, but I'm trying to keep it simple. The UK has not invested enough since WW2 - but the big impact on the current state of play is the last 13 years. I watched a video on the new bike parking at the train station in Amsterdam yesterday - its amazing, the UK just does NOT do that. They built the bike parking UNDER the maria so they could have more water [nice] and more boats [nice] and lots more bike parking - 7,000 spaces in ONE of the three bike parks at this train station. Netherlands 4.3% increase in GDP 2022. UK 0.3% in 2022.
3
@ronagoodwell2709 Well their central bank is not artificially pumping the stock market.
2
IM AN AUTHOR on the collapse of civilisations - the UK has reached "Interconnected cascading system failure" Everything is broken and everything you need to fix it is also broken - its THE END EDIT - Labour cant fix this - its unrecoverable.
2
I wrote this earlier: THERE ARE NO QUICK SOLUTIONS no amount of Labour is going to fix this - THIS IS COLLAPSE - Technically it is sigmoid collapse and the UK is now in the near vertical "freefall" part of that. You are experiencing cascading systems failure - everything is broken and everything you need to fix it is also broken. This period of collapse usually lasts about 10 years followed by 5 years of stagnation and then recovery starts. You can invest hundreds of billions £ into the infrastructure, education, science but its going to take 15 years just to START having an effect. The UK will also have to rejoin the EU before recovery can happen. I write books on this stuff and this is a severe "fourth turning" collapse. They happen every 80 to 100 years and this is an exceptionally bad one. The UK is going to have to invest £500 billion if not £1 trillion and totally reinvent its political and governing structures. The Britain that emerges from this depression will NOT be even recognisable - this is the collapse of the USSR moment for the UK.
2
PEOPLE IN THE UK SIMPLY HAVE TO ACCEPT it is collapsing - and no Labour can not save it. It has reached "interconnected cascading systems failure" Thatcher hollowed out the manufacturing + 13 years of austerity and no investment + Brexit = collapse. War in Ukraine and Covis are just the final nails in the already closed coffin. The UK faces 20 YEARS of poverty and stagnation before it even starts to recover. Poland and Slovenia have passed the UK for average standard of living. In the next 5 years, Romanina and Bulgaria will pass the UK You simply CAN NOT inflict this much will full damage to a country and it survive. Scotland will separate and join the EU - which will pump money in to rescue it. Ireland will join wiht NI. Dont know what Wales will do but it will devolve further and England will just become a bottom tier 2nd world country.
2
THE TOREIS STARTED a culture war skip fire as a distraction - its got out of control and now its burning their house down
2
OH it is antismite - you CAN NOT criticise the sacred people...!!!
2
THIS IS ALL ARGUING ABOUT THE DECKCHAIRS ON THE TITANIK....!!! Britain ins utterly bankrupt and in freefall collapse and no amount of Labour will fix it. Labour are complicit in not talking about it as they know they will be in power in a few months and THEY will have the problem. The Tories have hollowed out the Uk like the Oligarchs hollowed out the Russian army. To give you an idea - YOU NEED TO SPEND £293 BILLION ON NEW SHCOOLD NOW...!!! And thats jsut schools - you have not built or maintained anything since 1975 --> And you have been living by selling off the things you had - and now you have NOTHING LEFT except the broken sh!t no one wants to buy. This is the UK's 1991 USSR moment. NOTHING Labour can do can save you. The UK is a completely broken basket case in the middle of freefalll collapse and you are arguing about protestors - why? WHY? Cos both parties know there will be food riots in the future - protests on a scale you have never seen - THATS WHY THE PROTEST BANS ARE GOING THROUGH AND WHY LABOUR ARE NOT OPPOSING THEM...!!!
2
@realhorrorshow8547 ALLOW ME TO EXPAND Britain is utterly bankrupt and in freefall collapse and no amount of Labour will fix it. And thats just schools - you have not built or maintained anything since 1975. The total bill for things that NEED replacing in the next 10 years is over £1.5 Trillion and you are arguing about £28 billion for green stuff as if that wil make any difference to anything. You have been living by selling off the things you had, the companies, the utilities, the council houses, the victorian schools and hospitals, the school playing fields - and now you have NOTHING LEFT except the broken sh!t no one wants to buy and NEEDS maintaining or replacing - 38% of the UK public buildings are PAST their usable live and 3.3% more go past that every year cos you only build 30 year life buildings. 300 Council homes evacuated in Aberdeen - this will be a WEEKLY thing over the next 10 years as unusable buildings start to collapse. This is the UK's 1991 USSR moment. NOTHING Labour can do can save you. The UK is a completely broken basket case in the middle in freefall collapse and you are arguing about protestors - why? WHY? Cos both parties know there will be food riots in the future - protests on a scale you have never seen - THATS WHY THE PROTEST BANS ARE GOING THROUGH AND WHY LABOUR ARE NOT OPPOSING THEM...!!! Labour want the protest bans JUST as much as Sunak cos they are going to be VERY handy when there are 2 million in London demanding food...!!! You have 10 to 15 years of continued collapse and increasing hardship before things start to improve. Im an author on psychology and the collapse of civilisations - this is my job.
2
@montvydasklumbys7584 " When the air gets INSIDE the house it warms up " you have never been in a British house have you? Warms up? You are having a laugh.
2
@montvydasklumbys7584 - "I had moment, where this winter it was 12 degrees in my flat," this sounds exceptionally British the problem here is Britain built 70% of its housing when it was the richest country on the planet and had unlimited coal to burn and no one knew burning it was a bad idea. The houses were incredibly well built FOR THE TIME. And for the fuel / heating system at the time. Since then the UK has dropped very significantly in wealth. We stopped maintaining the houses, we switched to central heating, we didn't upgrade the housing stock and we are a victim of the quality of the houses we built at the time. In most of the world 150 year old houses have fallen down or rotted away or been eaten by termites. The problem is the walls of the average UK house contain a LOT of water in a kind of hydrostatic balance achieved over the last 70 years or so since the cola fires went out. You mess with that balance and you get all sorts of problems from the plaster falling off inside to the roof beams cracking to the walls cracking. You put new windows in to stop the draft and you get mould. You put a dehumidifier in to stop the mould your roof beams crack... The UK has a problem is has nothing like the money to fix, it cant even pay nurses let alone spend tens of thousands per old property bringing them up to modern speck. It would actually have been better if we built crap houses that fell down after 75 years...
2
@baronvonlimbourgh1716 "If you are productive enough you do not need to work 40 hours. You get your work done quicker..." Thank you for saving me from writing ths.
2
TIMES WILL BE TOUGH FOR ANOTHER 10 YEARS at a minimum - this is freefall collapse - you cant get out of this is 3 or 4 years. It might take 15 YEARS.
2
IF LABOUR GET A MASSIVE MAG then 100 MP's could defect to the Lib Dems and make the Lib Dems the official opposition...!!!
2
BORIS JOHNSON the turd that just won't flush...
2
THERE IS LITERALLY NOTHING that would get them to give that money back - if it turned out it was bequeathed by H!TL3R and Poll Pot - they would not give it back.
2
they are VERY reliable - way WAY more reliable than anything the IDF says.
2
my sister's kid is 16 - he wants to do it, but he knows the Tories would never actually introduce it. He might be bored a s a teenager but hes not s-t-u-p-i-d.
2
STARMERS LEGACY WILL BE FASCISM he is going to fail completely in rebuilding the UK - he has neither the £££ nor the vision, but he has TOTALLY destroyed the left. So when the electorate is angry and disappointed they can NOT turn to the left, they have only one place to go and that is fascism in the form of Farage
2
£60 MILLION FOR APPRENTICESHIPS - STOP LIVING IN 1980 The UK needs to invest £4 TRILLION in buildings and infrastructure over the next 10 years £553 BILLION is needed for new schools alone. The UK state has not spent ANYTHING on infrastructure of maintenance since 1975 - 50 YEARS of ZERO investment. Stop talking as if £60 million means anything, or £28 billion for green stuff will make ANY difference - its 2024! ONE SEWER in London cost £5 Billion - you all live in 1980's numbers £1 million is PENNIES today
2
£6,000 he has cost ever MP that loses their seat HAHAHAHAHAHAH
2
@alanhat5252 " chosen the name Charles III, it emphasizes the history & is a permanent reminder. Parliamentarians will be forced to say the name "King Charles" repeatedly." YES - I agree - I also think he will be a lot more vocal wiht his opinions on policy than we have been used to...
2
@alanhat5252 - Apparantly its so damp they cant dry it our or everything will crack - my sister has the same problem. Her house was built in about 1745 and they desperately want to insulate the walls but they cant alter the hydrostatic balance. You have to dry the thing out over about 20 years, they are thinking of just removing all the plaster off interior walls in one go to get it done. Its not like its a listed building - its a converted cow shed.
2
THE BRUTAL REALITY IS - BRITAIN IS COLLAPSING and there is nothing anyone can do to stop that now it has gone too far - so they cant face reality, they have to argue about BS To stop the collapse you need to spend £4 TRILLION - not to rebuild, just to stop the collapse. £550 billion on new schools over 10 years. £700 billion on repairing roads. £50 Billion to clear the NHS backlog. Just for starters.
2
YEP - YOU ARE CORRECT its always the lawyers that start the revolution... YEP - YOU ARE CORRECT it will not go back to "normal" after a Labour win, normal no longer exists for Britain... There will be either whole scale reform of ever part of society, OR there will be revolution.
2
@skymanifest8339 NO he was lying - Starmer had blackmailed him and he needed an excuse. If you are worried over MP's safety you call the police or MI5 - you dont alter parliamentary business if you did the IRA would have got a united Ireland in the 80's.
2
@lasttango7522 12 years ago - wow that's recent.
2
@paulm5443 - Actually I kinda agree, I use mechanical pencils for very much this reason. Pens annoy me.
2
@tomneile4025 - My mother dies at 60, she didnt get to live to 96, if a pen had leaked on me at the funeral I would probably have thrown it at the wall, I was a little distressed, to say the least. I certainly would not have wanted it all televised and picked over by millions of people.
2
@paulnugent9937 - OR - you could just be reading WAY WAY WAY too much into a stressed guy whose mother has just fl-king died getting angry with a pen that leaked ink onto his hand
2
@tobypettit6417 NO IM NOT - get lost.
2
IT WILL TAKE 15 YEARS to get the UK back on track, and you will never make up for the lost 20 years caused by the Tories No one can tell the truth about hos utterly f-uked the UK is cos they would NEVER get elected - at no time since WW2 has the country been so utterly f-uked - the UK is in freefall collapse
2
Why should Iran give up its religious leaders just to satisfy you, what's to say you are correct and they are wrong? Vast chunks chunks of the world believe that America and Europe are the ones in the wrong. So it could equally be argued that there won't be peace in the Middle East until the West pulls out and takes it Israeli colonial settler proxy with it. "The Mullahs are a cruel and despicable regime. " Installed by America to protect Anglo American oil interests.
2
@ashroskell What in my reply ever led you to think I took it personally? I was baffled and confused. "“Not really,” what?" Your entire OP, comment, its just a verbose word salad of general observations with no actual insight into anything. You started off by saying "Historically, Labour gave up after Neil Kinnock and started..." implying that the idea is to acquire an understanding of why the left has little direction and changes it frequently and loses it way, I tried to assist with this [pointing out it is a systemic problem]. But having re-read it I now see this was NOT your purpose, your purpose was to demonstrate your depth and breadth of knowledge to the admiring public. I now understand our confusion.
2
THIS IS COLLAPSE OF THE USSR LEVEL FOR BRITAIN no amount of Labour is going to fix this - THIS IS COLLAPSE - the near vertical "freefall" part of that collapse.
