  48.  @papachis9535  "Interest rates went up from 6% to 16%". on your £20k mortguage...? " The mortgage was crippling and I survived on Pot Noodles". YOU HAD A MORTGAGE - YOU COUL;D AFFORD A HOUSE this is typical boomer thinking, I had it slightly tough so kids to day are axiomatically better off. THEY CANT GET A MORTGUAGE - they dont have the LUXURY of eating pot noodles to pay the mortgage cos a mortgage is completely unaffordable. Your house was what? 2.5 X your salary 3X. Its now 9 to 15 X Im 53, so Im between both of you - I know that you guys had it easer than we did, and the kids today have it MUCH MUCH harder. Now does that mean that everyone had it easy - obviously not. My father was an engineer at a power station and they were going to buy that £2,500 house and then he got injured at work, we moved into a little rented house next to my grandparents so they could help look after the kids and one thing led to another my father's injury stopped him ever getting back to work - 15 years of a legal battle to get compensation - I went to school in black trash bags too poor to afford coats. We never moded out of that rented house and my inheritance will be £0.00p. YES people had hard times. That house, the Mount it was called sold last year for £1.2 million. But for ONE accident my family would have been GIFTED BY FORTUNE £1,997,500 pure profit. YOU as a boomer generation had it the easiest of ANY generation in history - that is an objective fact. BOOMERS DID NOT WORK HARD FOR THEIR WEALTH - THEY WORKED HARD FOR THEIR LIVING - this is not the same thing. "Sometimes you have to walk in a mans shoes to understand his mind and experience." I guarantee you that 95% of Gen Z today would LOVE to walk in your shoes - would yu walk in theirs? Earning £25k and a house costing £300k??? £2,250 a month on rent. 3 yers salary = a DEPOSIT...???
