If the woman is over 35yo, she needs to be paying the man a husband price. A woman over 35yo who asks for any bride price is crazy delusional and demanding & unreasonable.   5. When I hear getting a "taste"... it's a taste of what's between her legs. If I don't get a taste, then there's no relationship, and no $$$. Typically, each taste is valued about $35-$100 USD depending what happened. Words, texts, phone calls, holding hands is worth $0.

  15. I think the common denominator is social media and smartphones. People are easily swayed by stupid "influencers", and unrealistic expectations... especially for those who are poor, middle-class, and only average or less looking. IMO, I think social media has impacted women much much more than men when it comes to dating, and relationships.

Drs want to be taken to lunch, dinner, trips, and even the hotel by very pretty people... they don't want to be seen with or go to the hotel with old, fat, ugly people.

I agree that no one wants to marry the wrong spouse... but if someone has no education, no money, and don't have any plans to improve their situation (flying a drone constantly into the wall is not self improvement)... man or woman, they will be a terrible spouse.

Given all their peers and friends are doing the same thing, they will likely never break out of this situation. The unfortunate situation is that people in these situation, the old saying is true... This is a lie that is told by companies to give employee hope... when there isn't any. Even if they weren't in immediate jeopardy, learning new skills are for basically entry level or non-mission critical roles... of which, they can prob just hire the new skillset they want at a lower salary. Senior leaders, managers, or individual contributors typically make it to their level because of speciality knowledge or skills... and not "learning" a new skill on the side or part-time. This is the unfortunate truth.

  30.  @wl6020  Yes, there are very expensive or extravagant meals being served in elite restaurants as there are some people with tens of millions or billions of yuan. I believe I mentioned that these meals would be served in a private room, vs in open public for everyone to see. In addition, unless someone worked there, it's very unlikely they know how much the meal cost, unless they loudly proclaimed they are spending 50,000 yuan on the meal. Given it's Chinese diners, I wouldn't put it pass them to gloat loudly.

  31.  @yuhhh1283  I would prob suspect that if this is real, maybe $2K (2 apps, 2 entrees, 2-4 sides, 2 desserts) is in food, and $4K-$5K in wine/alcohol, and prob a $500 tip. I don't know the tipping rules in China, but it's supposed to be 15%-20% in the US, but tipping $1K is stupid unless the wait staff is also providing some boom-boom.

  34.  @calvincoolidge1207  I would partially disagree. A decent middle class man who is 45-50 with good conditions can easily get someone who is under 40yo. That said, if a woman has the personality you stated, they might at least a chance with that 50y+. Prob no chance with a 45yo.

There's a constant, and infinite, bombardment people pretending to be rich (but not), pretending to be beautiful (but not), pretending that (old) age doesn't matter (but in fact, it's the most important factor), and pretending to having it all (but not). This constant reinforcement creates an unrealistic expectation... causing many women wasting their most valuable asset, their youth.

  45. To the boyfriend. My best advice is to find a new girlfriend with parents who are more reasonable. If you do get married with her, just be aware that her parents will continue to make demands on you for money, and time... and your wife will always side with them over you. Your life will be a living hell. While it may be desired to have parental permission... but if both of you are adults, you need to make adult decisions.
