Kelvin Lim It’s too bad that China is powerful and yet has an oppressive foreign policy. Ideally China should respect human rights and allow HK to retain its basic freedoms. Instead of taking them away. China chooses a path of corruption and hatred, instead of human rights.
1
Kelvin Lim the most developed, equal, and wealthiest nations are all democratic. Living standards in Mainland China lag behind those of HK and other developed nations. NGO reports like the Inequality-Adjusted HDI confirm this. This is proof that China is a bad nation and that HK has a right to be concerned about integration.

Lin Shen Iraq has improved a lot since Saddam Hussein was removed from power. Iraqi Kurdistan is one of the most peaceful and progressive states in the Middle East. Now minorities are no longer oppressed by Baathist rules. The people who suffered are those who profited from the regime, but that’s just desserts, their happiness shouldn’t come at the expense of others.

Zeronolyn the CPI says China is corrupt
1
Some Random Guy CPI doesn’t lie man it says China is bad
1
Joe Dieu Read the Corruptions Perceptions Index, Mainland China is corrupt, and the US isn’t
1
Putin should be hung from a tree
1
rotutsdotcom Because he’s a corrupt murderer and Russians themselves hate him
1
I think you need to check your history
1
@AlexH-nt1gg If you cause a fire and then charge a few dollars to put it out, to cover the water and hoses, you are an arsonist but you’re not profiting off the fire. The US “set a fire” among two nations it wanted reduced. It did not profit significantly off the arms sales.
1
@AlexH-nt1gg Baathist Iraq and Sharia Iran were both dictatorships. Making them bleed a little isn’t immoral
1
@AlexH-nt1gg I would be very surprised to learn that, because that’s not true. Try and find the source that says “US installed Saddam Hussein”, then come show me. I’ll wait. Secondly, the Shah was a US ally and the US didn’t want him to be overthrown. US didn’t intend for a revolution in Iran, nor for a radical like Khomeini to take over. Learn your history it’s easy to read online
1
@AlexH-nt1gg Dude you need to check your history
1
@AlexH-nt1gg I don’t know if you can read my earlier comment, but you are wrong about the timeline.
1
@AlexH-nt1gg I have read the CIA article, and I do not believe it makes the US look bad. I wonder if you even read the whole thing.
1
@AlexH-nt1gg I have read both articles and it doesn’t change my view that the US was right to involve itself in Iran. The US maybe should’ve put down the Iranian Revolution more strongly, with violence perhaps.
1
@AlexH-nt1gg I’m curious if you can read all my posts
1
There is also military action against Russian Military
1
Thank you Russia for the airstrikes
1
China deserves these protests for its brutality
1
だいじ how is that possible? PRC is an oppressive regime that doesn’t respect human rights.
1
A F no one at the SCMP wants to admit the truth, which is that Hong Kong enjoys its privileged status purely because of the democracy made by the UK. If China were in charge Hong Kong would be just as corrupt, unequal, and polluted as other areas.
1
guru guru that’s not saying much. Most nations are corrupt dictatorships or failed states.
1
kim wong how is it a loss to protect civil liberties?
1
kim wong Hong Kong is successful because of its democracy, not in spite of it. There is less corruption there than the Mainland
1
Allah Ukbar secular nations are better than non-secular nations. Secular nations have higher human rights and less corruption
1
Allah Ukbar why lol? Western ways of thinking and freedom are why you have YouTube and a computer
1
Uler Kadut UK is a democracy that cares about human rights. When they governed HK, they made sure that only skilled and incorruptible people governed HK
1
Soon this will be you Hong Kong. Go back to the British
1
@pearvar77 you are so wrong US never threatened to invade Mexico 4 years before 2021. (When? As Trump was President? Lol why would Trump invade Mexico?)
1
This is Hong Kong’s future
1
@riverchas1844 NGO reports list China as a dictatorship, Hong Kong and UK as democratic. So clearly UK or independence is better for HK than being apart of China
1
Thrice Lives Don’t Matter Wow man chill don’t you support human rights?
1
She supports her government and genocide in Western China, she should be punished
1
Ben It would be justice for all the people his parents and grandparents ruinn
1
It’s no coincidence that the richest nations on Earth are all democratic. They don’t want to live in a corrupt regime like the Mainland, which is steeped in poverty and inequality.
1
cu fang not really. HK wants to copy the UK other Western nations, which all have higher living standards and civil rights. How is that bad?
1
China brining more prosperity to HK
1
Kong Wee Peh the legal system in the US isn’t corrupt
1
HK can embarrass and defy PRC and their HK allies. Then pro-democracy lawmakers can demand concessions from the Mainland.
1
This isn’t foreign interference. This is a consensus on trying to pressure China to do the right thing.
1
celtic barbarian Most of the US’s enemies were bad people who deserved their fate
1
Trinh Nguyen well yeah, I also cannot afford to live in San Francisco. The solution for me is to live somewhere cheaper and commute.
1
Trinh Nguyen what’s wrong with that? That’s what it takes to survive gentrification. It’s hardly unique to America.
1
Raider Warrior should’ve known better than fly to a war zone
1
Raider Warrior they should’ve severed all ties to Iran. Iran is a terror state. This is why it’s bad to visit
1
The US should declare war on China
1
Why is this a joke? Chinese technocrats have infiltrated US, New Zealand, and Australia. This is a fact.
1
Quentin_Plays relax bro it’s just a Chinese troll
1
