Too much to drink?
2
@Adi - Oh really? that's an interesting comment seeing as Carroll Shelby in his own words said that Henry Ford II should have received more credit than he did for this project turning into victory! Shelby also gave the deuce credit for doing his part to save Ford Motor Co during these very difficult times for Ford. Also, HF II didn't use any inherited money for this program, it came out of Ford Motor Co's assets!
2
@BlackStar250874 And you're very far from the best person.....really! No one ever said it was the best car, so what's your point! Dumb comment, Dude.
2
Movies are not real - documentaries are where you get the true facts.
2
Sorry, that is far from reality!
2
@bluzshadez - From that standpoint, I don't feel bad about being in my later years of life. I embrace the time period I grew up in that much more as I look at the many disturbing trends present today.
2
@Jinhao Liao - Wow, are you confused! Or disillusioned. Ferrari has a well documented history of very poor respect/treatment of his drivers. That is why Carroll Shelby said "No thanks" the 2 times Enzo asked him to race for Ferrari. Sir John Surtees and Phil Hill, 2 of the most respected drivers of their time, left Ferrari because of the games he played with them. He actually created a feud between 2 of his drivers by saying to one, why is so and so saying bad things about you, I thought you were friends? Then he would say the same thing to the other driver. After that, they weren't speaking to each other. Sorry, but Ford never pulled childish crap like that with their drivers!
2
@Ahir Bhattacharjee - You obviously are under the impression that this scene was fact. In reality, it never happened, as Enzo Ferrari did not attend races that included his cars. At least Henry Ford WAS at the race. In fact, he was the honorary starter who dropped the flag signaling the drivers to get to their cars!
2
But who's counting?
2
@MudhaffarAdhwa Ford factory cars raced in '64, '65, '66 and '67. The '68 and '69 cars were not entered by Ford, but by John Wyer who had purchased them from Ford and did all the modifications to them.
2
@MudhaffarAdhwa You had said Ford stopped running at Le Mans after 1969. I was correcting you as Ford's last year of entering factory cars was 1967. The 1968 and 1969 cars were Ford GTs for sure - but not owned or operated by Ford. John Wyer purchased them from Ford when Ford was done after 1967.
2
@Grbl_yt - The idea for the fiasco finish line photo was Ford's, and while it didn't turn out as expected, there was no malice on Ford's part against Ken or anyone else. Ford got approval from the A.C.O. governing body, only to be told towards the end of the race that they had retracted that approval. Your hatred should be redirected at The A.C.O. Do you think Ken would have continued to work for Ford if he felt Ford had screwed him? Do you think Ford would have kept Ken as a driver if they had any ill will towards him? Absolutely not! You must keep in mind that this is a Hollywood movie, and not a documentary! Hollywood has and always will create scenes to draw more viewers to the movie, and they most certainly get creative in doing this.
2
@canaanstuart3331 - Are you saying Ferrari would have hired Miles to drive for him? I highly doubt that.
2
@MihaiRogoRMF - Well thank you, it's very much appreciated. 😀
2
@video_game_is_for_children No, but I have heard of Shelby Ford!
2
@strawberrybeatlesforever1967 - Not even Ferrari can claim that!
2
@ukaszpaluch4950 - Oh, I guess no one except the buyers of 4.3 million Ford vehicles world wide in 2020!
2
@baller - Ford didn't steal a damn thing from Miles! Miles knew only too well of the dangers inherent in motor racing, he accepted those dangers, and was paid more by Ford than he had ever made. If Ford had screwed Miles, which it didn't, do you really think Ken was the type of guy who would have stayed with them to develop other cars? Get a life, Dude.
2
@_baller - Should have figured you were a Limey! "Scrub" Lol I guess our version would be something like "Dickweed"
2
@user-dl1bs6lm1g There is more than one triple crown in motor racing. This one is the triple crown of ENDURANCE racing - specifically.
2
@rumblefish9 - Right, and the FAKE Triple Crown is the Kentucky Derby, The Preakness and The Belmont Stakes, and they were here well before any motorsport triple crown! Triple crowns are triple crowns - there is no REAL triple crown!
2
@baller - You are a complete moron. Ford did not steal his triple crown, the ACO was responsible for that. Miles didn't just "go back to help Ford with the next car." He was paid handsomely to test drive and provide valuable feedback to the engineers. Ford killed Miles......absolute bullshit statement. It's a very dangerous business, especially then, and Miles was well aware of the risks involved and he accepted them. Do you think all of the thousands of race drivers killed would blame the manufacturers for killing them? Not hardly.
2
@wolololer Sorry, it didn't upset me at all. I don't know about you, but I was brought up in an environment where "constructive criticism" was accepted as a way to learn. I Guess today it has become OK to spell incorrectly, and that's really a shame. Makes me that much happier that I grew up in the time period that I did. Good luck!
2
@amarjittalukdar1967 - Ha, ha, ha! You obviously don't know that Enzo routinely destroyed all his race cars after they had done their job! Now that is really "use and throw."
2
@amarjittalukdar1967 They were hardly humiliated into leaving! They, along with many auto and motorcycle makers have found it unprofitable to manufacture and sell vehicles in India. If you want to survive today, or even in the past, you must recognize areas/countries that do not present a profitable business environment and take steps to remedy them. As I said, not only Ford but GM, Harley Davidson and a handful of other manufacturers have left India for the same reasons. A loss of $2 billion over a ten year period necessitated in Ford's departure.
2
@st3phn158 - I don't know why he proposed that and we will never know, unfortunately. The ACO had told them they could have a 3 car finish - all 3 cars winners. Then late in the race, the ACO reversed their OK and said you can't have more than 1 car win. The whole thing was a very unfortunate mess, for sure.
2
@kadasrichard Actually, Bruce didn't do any of the chassis work, or any other direct work on the car. What he did do was use his valuable experience and skill as a driver/engineer, in the form of test driving the car and providing technical feedback. Ken Miles and Phil Remington were the other test drivers who provided valuable feedback to the car's builders.
2
@keiichi8191 - You get the gold star award. You are one of the few in this whole video comments section who has some brains, and has obviously read up on the facts of this infamous finish line fiasco. Well done!
2
@amaliabernate5924 Tell that to the Ferraris that have lost to Lamborghini in the last couple of years in various sports car racing classes!
2
@gentnextdoor Most popular???? Not even close! Porsche has produced infinitely more classic, winning sports cars and sport racers than Ferrari will ever see.
2
@theirondukew.8522 - I don't know why some of you folks keep insisting McLaren was involved in the design and manufacturing of the first Ford GTs. His contribution was limited to test and evaluation of the car as it was being developed.
2
@theirondukew.8522 Yes, he was involved with the GT40, but his involvement was a hands off involvement, as a test driver providing valuable feedback to the constructors. He was not directly involved in any of the fabrication or assembly of the car.He essentially had the same duties as Ken Miles did, and that's all.
2
Yeah, they sure didn't do anything in England to promote him!
1
Ken Miles got more praise and recognition in the U.S than he ever did in England. I read that there is next to nothing commemorating his racing achievements in his home town in the UK. Probably due to him leaving England to become a great American race driver! Lol
1
@Gabriel Gatti - Curious as to what you think of Carroll Shelby?
1
That's OK since Ford was winning the 4 years that Porsche couldn't! Lol
1
@Alex Chang - No thanks, I'll take a Ford over a fancy Fiat any day! Lol
1
Nope, Ferrari lost! Lol
1
Only in Europe. In the U.S. it is titled Ford vs Ferrari.
1
You are so lost in the non factual aspects of the movie that it's downright pathetic. Try reading factual material instead of letting a less than accurate movie provide it for you!
1
There are no points awarded for respect in an endurance race. you either win or lose.
1
No, but it certainly highlights what little knowledge, if any, you have about corporate marketing and its important value to the business!
1
No we can't just realize that.........because it isn't true! The Ford GT won 4 consecutive times in the sixties and most recently in the GTLM Class in 2017. Shelby beats who most of the time??
1
The best drivers do not win all the races - no matter what car they are driving. Miles and Enzo would never be a realistic combination.
1
Oh I think he has been recognized by Americans, and he is buried in America, not GB.
1
@jayweezy3264 OK, let me refine my statement a little for you. Anyone who follows sports car racing knows very well who Ken Miles was. It's the young theater goers, most of whom have never even been to a sports car race, that are the clueless ones!
1
@antonioferreirakaspers6417 - Say what??????????????? You are clearly a delusional soul.
1
@mrtee3477 - Strongly suggest you try looking at the facts, and not being misled by a Hollywood movie!
1
@FogHornCraigHorn That's right - good old Ken designed and built the Ford GT40 in his shop! Get a life.
1
@aryaman4197 - Boycott you, Numbnuts!
