  5.  @LucasFernandez-fk8se  They chirp from the built in alarm speaker, to warn you the battery is about to run out. Of course if the battery goes totally flat, they got no power to sound the alarm with. They can do this chirp for a long time before it does eventually run out.

  12. Yeah I cringed a bit when I heard that, it was immediately obvious it was a miscommunication. Carl is just being a bit sloppy with his language, as most people often are. Its pretty ironic that he even acknowledges the term "ufo" being another such instance where the people in general assumes it means "alien craft" when its by definition anything but, just like the term "aliens".

  13. You are right but the men in those relationships got something in common, and its not being stoic and in total control of their emotions to say the least. In short, their brain functions like the negative stereotype of a womans. Pretty ironic.

  15. These arent "pranks".. which should be obvious. What is perhaps not so obvious to a lot of people is what they truly are: Sort of a second-hand "power fantasy", i.e the ones who watches and likes these videos are mentally putting themselves in his shoes and wish it was them that could scare people, in order to feel powerful. As far as I know, its a psychological mechanism to cope with low self esteem and lots of other mental issues. Where I am at, its not uncommon for people to get robbed, beaten and humiliated and sometimes the "robbers" dont even take the cash. Its all just a power rush. The fact stuff like this is so common and a lot of people watch it with glee, shows a deeper rooted resentment and is very concerning for society at large, I would say.

  18. Your "This world we are living in now" implies something has changed. It hasnt. It has always been like this. You only get to know about it more, courtesy of the communications technology existing. Edit: I will add that you would do best to be aware of this, and try to not take be too affected. Its harsh, but similar sort of cruelty has happened literally millions of times since before humans climbed down from the trees. Dont be paranoid, depending on where you are, its quite unlikely to affect you. You, as everyone else, just have to accept this is what humans are and have always been and learn to live with it. Its a risk, just as there is a risk getting hit by lightning. Its unlikely and the chances can be made even less by acting accordingly. Cheer up. Cheers.

A least when the person is deep enough into the ideology; "if only we had even more of policy x, then it would be ok!".   23. Well done. Your ex friend is a lost cause though, no use trying to convince them. One of those people who agree with literally everything the "powers that be" tell them to. Its quite literally in their genetics. What is sad, is that it encompasses the majority of humanity. It is what it is. But as I told you another time, unless you live in a very bad area, the risk of anything really bad happening to your family is extremly small, a small solace perhaps.

  24. Well, yes it always was that way. Its even baked into the genes to be a simp for authority amongst most people, whatever said authority may say or do. And with good reason; if the rulers of the tribe didnt like the cut of your jib, that meant as good as certain death for as long as humans have existed or longer. So thats not going to change anytime soon. Just one of those things.

  30. You dont get it: Most women (and a good chunk of men) innately dont think they have any broader agency. They cant understand the concept itself. And I cant agree with their logic: If you are unable to fathom agency, you also cant have any responsibility.

Personally, I cant stand being fake/faking something for a single second, but I am admittedly an outlier among people in that regard. Just not in my nature.   38.  @GeekyC  Heres what I do; I dont follow social media much and certainly not the main stream media. I know whats going on that relevant is to me just fine anyway. You watching this video by lotus eaters means you are already more clued in about some/most bigger issues than almost everyone in the general public, you could leave it at that... Sidenote regarding gruesome footage and images: As a kid, I grew up on the "unregulated" internet that existed back then. It was "cool" to watch the most horrific videos that could be found, some sites collected them Perhaps they still do, I dont know, I only knew about them back them from how my friends talked about them. But I never watched a single one of those videos. Why should I? Didnt interest me. The psychology is a bit interesting, I can only assume my friends saw it as some kind of "manliness ritual" of being a rebel similar to mouthing off to the teacher, etc. Since I grew up in quite different and a bit harsher circumstances than those kids, I had no need to prove anything to anyone.... Anyway, my point is: If it affects you negatively, try to avoid it best you can. unfollow or block some content some contacts posts for a time if you absolutely have to keep using social media a lot.

  39. You must be very young, or forgetful. Swedish instutions and society were all but taken over with this ideology since the early 1970s. Only cultural momentum from previous eras and a then lack of cheap ways to get there from other countries regulated the amount of people going there since then...

  50. I read an old book probably from the 70s-early 80s when I was a kid about exactly that concept. Dont remember its name though. The protagonist was one of the aliens, and it takes place a few years after they arrived and promptly got defeated because they were so dumb in comparison to humans. Pretty original concept, I would think.
