@veyron142 The "classic" Hägglunds are the silver one seen at 10:20, and those are swedish. These use an updated chassis developed from a BV206, with a Volvo cab. STV is a separate company with lots of hägglunds involvment, and swedish as well.

I am sure a very large percentage (90+%) dont, and probably a fair few dont use it on manuals either. They call it the "Emergency brake" which I am sure doesnt help the general public to understand its usage any better.
5
As far as I know, they are not usually 50cc, but quite a lot more. Like 2 cylinder 400cc diesel for example. However, they do fall under the same rules as 50cc "mopeds" in most places for what speed and roads they can do and use.
5
Some places teach that DC and Puerto Rico are included, making it 52

As far as I know, the "old" Agera RS production car (i.e there are several, it can be bought and is street legal) FIA official top speed record still stands to this day... ? after all other malarkey went by the wayside.

Yeah its not maimstream knowledge for sure, you have to be into old stuff like tractors and stationary engines and so on to see it regularly.
4
03:40 That would be a Renault Megane Maxi.
4
@coleti666 aka the Ferrari 456s brother.
4
Only center as standard, rear was a rare option. But they do pretty well without locks, the computer is quite clever where to send power.
4
Yeah, high speed sweepers are the temperature "gainers", whilst as you can see the onrushing air in an open wheeler actually cools the tire surface a bit on the straights. Also cool to see the Sidepod, brakes and rear gathering heat. Poor old Paul di Resta, he was a pretty good driver in his own right, even if his f1 career wasnt all that long. The big leagues are just that, after all.
4
Bird is not really "black", the one on the right is an illustration of how much more color a bird can see in what to us appears as "black" because of their more granular color vision.
4
You are correct, but there are some things you just cant do with 2wd that almost becomes easy with 4wd.. Tow starting on ice or snow going uphill for example, if the trailer is reasonably heavy. But thats hardly what most people do everyday, so for normal driving you are certainly on the money.
4
@Miccielly Exactly right, we were taught they just didnt change the flag after including the other ones, which seemed to make more sense than changing it. Considering most famous flags of countries were I am from are unchanged for hundred of years, changing it more often than, or even at all, seemed ludicrous.

@martinohnenamen6147 I think you misunderstood my post, I am not strictly talking about Metric vs imperial units at all. It was a bit of non sequitur answer, I admit. I was talking about the myth that still lives on that torque numbers in isolation matters for vehicle propulsion, when its only the power numbers that does. Cheers.
4
@UltraCasualPenguin Its a sideeffect of longevity, fuel consumption and power targets, i.e to get the consumption they wanted at the necessary power level, they had to go with a BIG engine. And big engines give a lot of torque, by pure physics. Often the high torque is even an unwanted sideffect, and is limited in software, like in many cars.
4
Not just US, Lots of kind of similar stuff (well, maybe not the fifth wheel part) was availible to buy in europe back in the day, but it was never all that popular compared to regular tow hitch coupled caravans.
4
Yep, its bots.
4
And Audi q7... And these days (not the cars in the video) the Lamborghini Urus and Bentley bentayga as well.
4
Saw one of those a couple of weeks ago. For a 2cv, its a stunner alright!
4
Most of these vehicles are very old or in bad shape with regards to glow plugs etc. A resaonably modern diesel car thats fully functioning starts as easily at 0 degrees F as it does at 70 degrees F. But it does make for a good video seeing them having trouble starting. No more substantial issue starting a diesel than a petrol, really.
4
@skrillah6259 Indeed it is. But as stories go, its a good one.
4
Well not just "some" are using the drivetrain.,,,, its pretty much all of them. Well except for that it was only the previous gen clio chassis, engines were always the same as renaults latest. With the models on sale currently, it uses the current renault chassis as well, so they are "up to date" in all regards regarding the drivetrain and chassis.
4
Not bad. I am about 13 seconds slower in my car, a diesel BMW, So I expected a little bit more to be honest, but I am not super familiar with the platform and if it ran all stock and normal tires (not R compound), that seems about right. An "honest" lap in comparisom to the tweaked cars most manufacturers run.
4
Yep, named "Sunny" in europe.
4
@Marieisso Yes, I figured thats where you got the numbers from. Dont sweat it, its an easy enough mistake to make. May I say, its good to see a bit of courtesy, most people arent like you in that regard and take everything personally. Cheers.
4
Ah yes, the "bordello" interior look... hey, its something different, thats for sure. Cool for a showtruck I suppose.

@genesishep I know about it, I was talking specifically about the Cayenne (as those were the subject of this video). Not the same off road kit as standard or availible, though on the other hand you could option some stuff the Touareg couldnt get, like the hydraulic sway bars. You also could option what they called "skid pads", but its certainly not a complete underbody protection, no. I looked at all availible Touareg and Cayenne models before I decided on and bought my Cayenne, since I felt the tradeoff of what the Cayenne does better was worth it to me. I am from Sweden, btw, so I know winters and snow very well :)

@MrZcar350 Works fine everywhere. A 16 foot boat is very light, relatively.
3
@fabr5747 Its a generally occuring rule ones car gets to a certain age. This is common enough and surely what he meant, since thats how it works almost everywhere.
3
The roller coaster was part of their over-investment etc that made them face bankruptcy. It is not and was not in use, except for 4 single days back in 2013 as said. I have done a few laps there, and I have the personal goal of being the fastest "fully street legal/not track modified" diesel car around there some day. Might not seem like much but its a a lofty enough goal for a private individual of small economical means as myself.. We will see if its possible.

Some places teach that DC and Puerto Rico are included, making it 52

The newer the citroen, the firmer the suspension, generally. That might be to your liking, or it might not. For some purists, they think its been downhill on that front since the DS.
3
Mostly right, but these kind of rubber tracks arent as limited as you might think, especially in this configuration with the articulated and powered "trailer". Except pure, slippery and smooth rock formation, they are pretty darn good, and putting aside that, they got the advantage over tires mostly everywhere . Downside for their intended usage mainly being they wear a lot on the paved road and you cant go very fast either, maybe 70km/h.
3
Its not unreliable, especially not the faclift model or the gen 2 ones. Them being unreliable is just outdated info parroted by those that dont really know, but got an opinion anyway. Unfortunately, there are a lot of those people, in all kind of different fields...
3
@bentchristiansen8795 See my previous post, there seems to be the same misunderstanding going on here. cheers.
3
@UltraCasualPenguin Indeed, the thermal efficiency of very large diesels are often above 50%, giving very good fuel consumption for the specific power usage. Just as I said above. Engine spec sheets often quote gram fuel used per kwh power output at different rpms in a graph, perhaps you can do the math of the engine you mention and compare it to a typical modern car engine and then a 1960s 50cc petrol two stroke. Could be fun and you might find the numbers illuminating. My guess would be 35% and 20% thermal efficiency at best rpm.
3
Not hundred percent true unfortunately. I used the toll road in France one time, they couldnt accept my card which led to a quite amusing story of how I caused a queue on the road with lots of cars stuck behind me (you pay as you exit, not enter) and a very heated discussion with a french lady via some telephone system in the toll booth.
3
As a guy outside the geographic area mentioned on wiki, I have to admit I havent seen all that many Louis de Funes movies, but the ones I have often/always seemed to have some kind of crazy car (or other vehicle) chase / scene.
3
Yep, I have seen standard trucks doing drag racing exhibitions, and as a part of that doing a burnout first. No issues.
3
Even in europe the tow weights are heavily outdated to the lower end. With todays more powerful cars with much better brakes than in the old days, you could more or less double the permissable tow weight. The only realistic danger is wobble because of faulty hitch pressure, but thats a problem you can encounter even within the current rules.

@YekouriGaming The error is different on every car, but the most common on cars that are older than quite new are what I wrote. I have coded my main car to show the correct speed on the digital speedometer, since the car itself knows it. Yes, I know of the regulation. I dont really agree it has to do with engine size, its more that newer cars interface their gps module with the speedometer more. Older cars with larger engines have just as big of an error as smaller engined ones. Cars of the same model with different engine alternatives have identical speedometer error, with a few exceptions and in those cases the larger engines actually have more error. This is because they want to satisfy the demand of the customers buying larger engines to see the car "go fast". One such example is older BMW M3 vs a normal 320i, where the M3 has more error.
3
Southern and central euope, not much, no. Nothern europe, absolutely it is.
3
Trailers are foor looks, yes, but it doesnt have to be fake. Lots of stuff you can do to minimize friction and increase traction.
3
Quite a few of those Audi Q7:s looked to be first gen to me, which is essentially the same car as the first gen VW Toureg and Porsche Cayenne (Newer ones still share platform, but gen 1 was widely thought to be the best for off road). Both the VW and Porsche platform siblings are even better offroad though, courtesy of their better ground clearance, better approach/departure angle and (I think) more comprehensive off road packs availible as options. There are better cars off road these days, but I dont think there is any car built that can combine the off road ability, with daily driver comfort, with the pretty fast on road performance that platform can do with larger engines... Certainly nothing came remotely close at the time. Downside is of course the so-so reliability in the long run...
3
@thedutchhuman The older models mostly featured in this videos, are one of the best if not THE best terrain cars of its era, certainly if one takes into account the on road manners. Most 4wd or AWD cars are way worse in terrain, even on the same tires. However, this capacity was as good as never used, yes. For an even worse example, see G-wagon.
3
They got the "Legends car" class worldwide which might be something similar except for the 1930s styled body.
3
@AHVENAN I have driven one of those exact vans, and yeah, its pretty darn fast for one of those.
3
@norb0254 I seriously doubt most automatics in Scotland are dual clutch models considering how uncommon those are compared to torque converter ones...
3
The Lancia more or less keeping up with a f1 car of the time, in what is implied to be the same conditions, is sadly a myth. As is reasonably obvious to those that know a bit about both sports at the time and/or a bit of physics. But its a great myth and fun story!

Sorry I started writing the comment and did a thing in between posting it, I see @module79l128 has more or less written what I did already. Sorry.
