  3. I do hate to break this news to you Tonya, but 99.% of gay people come from straight parents. They are raised in families just like we were, they have the same values as you and I, and they grow up often wanting children and a happy family and home just like you and I. This case wasn’t about the rights of LGBT people wanting to be parents, that’s been settled — They can and do. This case was about the rights of a religious organizations right to offer adoptions to straight people only. As stated, 1 of 22 organizations serving this cities foster needs has the right to be selective based on issues of faith. This is good, and it’s NOT discriminatory as they have 21 other services to choose from. Ditto for the cases where a church decided to not marry same sex couples, it is their right, and there are many other churches who will, so it’s not discriminatory.

  4. The SCOTUS just agreed with you. Bottom line of their decision, 22 agencies available, 1 does not offer adoptions to LGBT people. That is a Religion based organization, and the court affirmed their right to be selective. This is good. However your comment That you are “Sick of this being shoved down our throats,” speaks of your personal bias. Let’s be clear, the bias you have just voiced is WHY it’s not going to stop. LGBT people are NOT less ‘anything’ than you, not less deserving, not less human, not deserving of less rights, and NOT less of an American citizen than you. Ask yourself why people keep making this point, keep marching, protesting, and keep standing up for their rights? Think if it were blacks being denied adoption by the church would YOU also feel that they were “shoving it down your throat?” I think not, as blacks have fought, petitioned, marched and rioted to affirm their right to stand as equals. But you can’t stand LGBT people to do the same. Why is that? Why are you triggered by it?

And frankly, I agree with you... in that I am very glad that the SCOTUS has ruled in favor of the church in this case, there are 21 other agencies they can go to. It’s NOT the states (governments) place to dictate issues like this with a religious organization. In this example, the SCOTUS did the right thing. My issue was with your wording, ‘to stop shoving it in your face.” That mere fact that you take issue is WHY they need to keep pressing the issue, and putting it in your face. LGBT people are our brothers and sisters that we are commanded by God to love. They are as deserving as you and I, no less, no more.

  12. That everyone seems to be calling the media racist, is sad. EVERYONE of any color knows with ZERO DOUBT this was a racially motivated hate crime incident. Hate is learned, by being hateful, by being unforgiving, we perpetuate the problem. That the black victims forgave the white person who shot and killed their friends and loved ones... is absolutely amazing. I was only beaten, robbed and held at gunpoint for a few hours, and I have trouble forgiving that person. That these victims can voice heartfelt forgiveness inspires me to be a better person. My heart and prayers go with them and those they lost. I am humbled by their faith, strength, and grace.

  15. Trump DID try and use the national guard, and had to be told it was not his call, the national guard reported to the Governor. Trump didn't just NOT send the National Guard, When asked the function, Trump TRIED TO USE THE NATIONAL GUARD TO SUPPORT HIS RIOTERS. Then when he couldn't, he tried to use the US Military to support keeping him in office. If you remember back to the BLM riots when Trump tried to use the military to fight them, over 20 top Pentagon officials and officers find a letter essentially saying "not on our watch it is unconstitutional to use US military on US soil against US citizens." ALL of the signers of that letter were terminated and replaced with Trump loyalists. This was planned, Trump absolutely was willing to overthrow the nation to stay in power.

Whenever the press or news mentions a criminal issue involving a Caucasian they rarely reference the persons race or say "white," but when referencing a person of color they do frequently say "Black," "Hispanic" or whatever. I and a lot of people notice that fact. What I don’t understand is your anger or assumption that they didn’t initially call him a terrorist because he was white. He may have been, and if the police's research shows him to be racially, politically or religiously motivated I will be right beside you denouncing him as a terrorist. My point was that to refer to him as a terrorist before the facts are known is wrong. Now that more information has become available, he did seem motivated by hate. Republican family, online rants about God, against gay marriage, and many other issues. The news has also brought up the point that perhaps Austin was targeted because it voted majority democratic while the rest of Texas mostly voted republican. But that’s all supposition until all the facts are in.

  32. T N — I believe the "shocking" comment was aimed at the fact the police thought they had previously confiscated all of his weapons as he was deemed a risk, not that 1000 rounds was shocking. I’m thinking a lot of people, like me, may have a similar number of rounds. What no one seems to be mentioning is that we can still buy guns without any limitations, records or restrictions from private citizens just like we would buy a hammer or drill. Speaking for myself only, I feel the time has come to hold gun owners responsible for the sale of weapons they have purchased or bought. There should be some way to prevent or at least alert authorities when someone purchases a weapon who is on a "no buy" list, with the goal being to prevent situations like this.

I do not agree with you. A Soldiers mission would be to free hostages, soldiers accept the risks in their assignment as necessary for the greater good. A hostage is a citizen, they are victims not combatants and accepted no risks, get zero pay and in any other situation anyone harming them would be charged with a crime. Add that Hamas was the aggressor, the attacker, and the hostages taken were mostly attending a concert, your premise is false.

You drill, and drill, and drill, you have surprise drills, and you have alerts you don’t know are drills until it’s over and they say “This was a drill, the exercise is now over.” When you hear an alert followed by “THIS IS NOT A DRILL” you take everything much more seriously. In this case I think the original issue was they were just told "No, we will not let 'you' adopt through the Church's adoption services." What they should have said is "Our policy is to not offer adoption to same-sex couples, however here are 21 other agencies in the city that can help you."
