Yes, Vanessa, it's nice to have someone do your laundry however how are you going to get that done when you are cruising every day?
2
@themindfulnarrowboat And then there's that!😊

Vann, Hi very interesting vlog. When you first said HVO, I thought you were signing up for HBO TV. LOL Does Alice now smell like a floating chippie now? Is your HVO fuel Vegan? Looks to me like you found a way around electric boats with HVO, good show! Nice to see Little Alice tagging along. Enjoy the rest of this beautiful summer!
2
Vann, You know how much I love your vlogs. This was an especially great one. You are so good with the camera. Most boat tubers don't even notice what you see.

Mindfulness Afloat Waterways Lifestyle In just three years, Vanessa Thomas swapped a hectic, work-oriented lifestyle for one as a continuous-cruiser aboard narrowboat Alice Grace. Ffion Llwyd-Jones provides her story. Vann, I just saw your picture with Zephyr on Waterways World Magazine. Congrats. It's the issue that will be on sale at Crick. Your Moment is NOW! Good luck with it!

@garycooper3487 I agree with Super Duper Gary Cooper. Birds are scavengers by nature. They eat whatever they can find. I think that you will be doing the birds a favor to keep a feeder on your boat.

Vann, I've had a bread machine for over 20 years and from my experience I believe that the moisture in your onions may have doomed your loaf. You may want to consider investing in a dehydrator. You live the sort of lifestyle that could really take advantage of that food dehydrator with herbs and fruit. You find so many apples, you could make apple chips for the winter. There are so many options. A simple small round dehydrator is only about £40.

Just Beautiful V. Waiting for the 10K celebration.

The BBC is still working on appealing to the masses-aka the lowest common denominator. They have £Millions invested in their formula. YouTube, on the other hand, has Millions of channels that appeal to a relatively smaller number of viewers.

V, Every time I watch that collision my heart skips a beat. Please, for everyone's peace of mind please have all crew wear a life jacket in dangerous situations. Yes, it's only five feet deep but if someone were to go overboard in the dark it could spell disaster.

Hi Vann, Those mushrooms did look delicious. My wife was very interested in your biscuit bars. Were they homemade or store bought? I never told you before but we have found some of the other biscuit treats that you have had in past episodes. I sort of brings us closer to you in a way. My impression is that you were not thrilled with the brown water at first but you just kept on smiling. We're not as mindful as you but you have had an influence on us. When it was time to name our new internet router we selected the name The Mindful Net. Thanks again for another great vlog.
2
Vann, I'm so happy that you have 3K Subs. Congratulations 🍾🥳🎈🎉👍🏼🍾♥️😜

I checked with some narrowboater's and here are their responses to your washer question: liftoff_oversteer says: Have decent set of lithium batteries and a beefy inverter. bikerchef1200 says: Hi, I'm totally off grid . I run mine on a cold setting washing half a load at a time as it doesn't like too much weight. I have the machine plumbed into the hot water too ( although some people say this isn't advisable but I have done for the last 3 years) . I have the engine running along with 975w of solar recharging 4 trojan t105 6v batteries . I do believe it's better to have a more analog machine too as some inverters can't cope with the electrics in the circuit boards of the fancy ones. The inverter i use is a cheap modified sine wave one from China it was advertised as a 3000w but I don't really think its anymore than 2000w, it works for me to run a fridge tv and all of the usual charging.

@themindfulnarrowboat Oops, I answered this in the wrong place, sorry.
2
Vanessa, consider doing something like this in your vlogs - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1SRl2EZHmg

Hi Vann. We really enjoyed your vlog (as always) today. So happy to see 11K Sub's. Happy Day!

Help Identify this bird @6:30 - People on Reddit responded that it is an Accipiter.

Hey Vanessa😊! Now that winter is approaching I thought that I would share this with you. No obligation required. I feed the birds in my back yard (garden) and I've been putting out a lot of peanuts in shells. Mostly Blue Jays devour them, with the occasional tufted titmouse. Most days at 2:00 in the afternoon, I place a pile of about 25 or 30 unsalted roasted peanuts in the shell on a small table under my chocolate mimosa tree and I sit back and wait for the show. It's so fun. In only a short amount of time there are 4 or 5 pairs of blue jays that show up one after the other. They pick their peanut and fly off with it and are soon back for more. I have a lot of other birds in my yard but this is quite a show. It only takes about half an hour from start to finish. Anyway, the reason I'm telling this is that I had some curiosity about the species and I found a very entertaining bird channel on youtube. Yes, they are North American birds, but you may find it interesting. Just search for Lesley the Bird Nerd on YouTube sometime when you are in need of entertainment. Cheers.

WELCOME BACK. We missed you.

@themindfulnarrowboat No, “we don’t need no stinking badges”. Vann, this one was a head scratcher. You rarely show your entire boat so I was wondering if there was a motorcycle on board. I concluded that that motorcycle rider early in the vlog was just a red herring and that Hitch was actually lurking over your right shoulder in that pretty photo of the sunset with the side silhouette of a person in the lovely sunset. I couldn’t tell, but at first appeared to be that that person had a fishing pole, but vegans don’t fish. Did you really film in that spot just for that photo? Seems like a lot of work for an audience of one. Do people still refer to it as filming even though it’s digital? I’ll bet that there are some children who have asked “mummy, what is film?”. You would make Sir Alfred proud, although he was truly a man of his generation with his regard to women. Today he would be outed as a “me too’er”. Bring on the sloe gin!
2
@themindfulnarrowboat Upon further reflection...you got me this time. I believe film is the preferred usage.

Oh my, those grumpy railroaders. If the doors don't work for all, then fix them so they do Mr Grumpy.

Well Vannie, another fine vlog to add to your wonderful catalog. I have two dogs and the male watches TV. We have a 50 inch screen. When your theme music starts playing he gets as close to the telly as he can and he waits for Zyphyr to make her appearance. Then the incessant barking begins. This excites my female and she goes sniffing him. It's quite a sight to see. When Zyph was rolling in the grass, it set off my dogs.
2
Keep going Vanessa!
2
Hi Christine. A couple of weeks ago I noticed the relative low number of subscribers to this lovely vlog so I decided to help bring in new subscribers. We could use your help. Thank you!
2
What a harrowing ordeal. It made for riveting viewing however 😜 It's going to get really hot for you. Consider a solar air conditioner for the future.
2
Hi Vann, I'm often puzzled as to why the entrances to marinas are so darned narrow. Daisy is looking really nice. Thank you for the lovely journey. I'm feeling better now.
2
Vann, I can't stop laughing at "the most beautiful pump-out machine"🤣🤣 Lovely vlog. Thank you!
2
No, Lewis that was just a random drawing but your poem was outstanding! Thanks!
2
@themindfulnarrowboat I do.
2
Start planning for the 2Ksubs party.
2
Goodnight Irene.
2
WOW!!! 54K views. That tops #92. SO UNEXPECTED INDEED!
2
Vanessa, Have you figured it out? My wife believes it is just your title alone but I'm not convinced. Perhaps you had some mention in the media? Another vlog recommendation? I sincerely hope that all of those viewers subscribe and return. Again, congratulations! It's quite an adventurous ride.

@themindfulnarrowboat lol

I think a ghost is at the helm. I call him Hitch.
2
@themindfulnarrowboat Not knowing why Hitch doesn't want to appear is puzzling. Many apprehensions are rooted in fear and can be overcome by psychological treatment exposure therapy that is essentially systematic desensitization. For instance Hitch could remain silent for a time like Teller of Penn & Teller. Or start by wearing a hat and sunglasses at first and gradually remove them. It's a simple therapy that has a high rate of success.
2
I felt so bad about that all week. I'm sorry that I said anything. I felt like a dizzy Dutch gongoolizer critiquing Van Gogh. My humble apologies.
2
I just adore dreamers.
2
@themindfulnarrowboat Hmm, konnichiwa & sushi? LOL
2
Yea! Yowie! 101!!! Vanessa, you were at 594 when I started, so now it's 500 New. Way-To-Go!!
2
Vann, Just how did you teach the Brent Geese to goosestep to Deck The Halls @ the 9:00 point? And even the Little Egret? ❄️🎄🎅😆 Merry Christmas!!!
2
I beg to differ, Chris is the male Vanessa of the canal and river system. LOL
2
@themindfulnarrowboat Jeepers Vannie...I wouldn't call 803 views in 24 hours going downhill. More like an uphill roll.
2
@themindfulnarrowboat As a child I learned my core morals from early 1960's TV. Jeepers from Leave it to Beaver. Vintage white bread America. Gosh Golly Jeez and Jeepers. Sadly no Bollocks Bugger or Blimey.
2
Wow Vann! That was an event filled episode. Good show! Of course, in my house the very favorite part was the one minute bulldog frenzy. We replayed that segment several times and my dog just loved it. Good luck with your engine.
