Beauty is about money and effort and ladyboys spend a ton of both. Nothing mysterious about it.

Trans or not she’s a lady to me.

Gays can't get legally married so such a position is comically absurd. Listen up gays, sit on your hands most of your adult life until same sex marriage is legalized when you're too old to even get an erection anymore.

Tolerance is better than intolerance of course but Thailand also still has a long way to go for trans equality. My wife is a Thai trans woman. We can't legally marry in Thailand and she can't change her legal gender. There is also quite a bit of structural discrimination in employment. It's for these reasons we live in California and not in Thailand.

Obviously it wrecked him for life. He's doing all he can to pretend he's not gay when he simultaneously can't even imagine other gays not having sex with 150 - 550 guys in a lifetime. This is what a homophobic society does to gay people. Turns gays against themselves and breaks them. Thankfully times are changing but he's stuck as a teenager in 1975. Sad.

Straight people declare their sexuality all the time. Talking about who is cute, who their boyfriend or girlfriend is, including their former partners in stories they tell about themselves, introducing people as their husband or wife. Meanwhile gays in Korea have to hide in the closet and never talk about any of that. That guy's answer was incredibly sad to me.

We’re legally married. That’s literally what the county clerk said. “Do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife... I now pronounce you husband and wife.” Go ahead. Tell me that didn’t happen.
344
The point is not that this video is about trans women. It’s lamenting the fact that, yet again, the stories of trans men are not being told. The aggregate media coverage is 10x on the side of telling trans women’s stories and not trans men’s stories.
339
Thanks for commenting. My wife is a Thai ladyboy and while we are legally married in the US we want to legally marry in Thailand with my wife’s family. I hope the Thai law changes soon.

@陈明-n6i If you're attracted to the trans girls in the thumbnail you're not gay. Gay guys aren't interested in trans girls.

The word ladyboy in Thailand doesn’t have the same subtext it does in the west. The west also doesn’t have a cultural history of trans people that goes back hundreds and hundreds of years. Gender and gender expectations don’t have the same historical religious underpinnings to Thai society it does in the west. Nor is the west monolithic. It’s a simple compound noun that Thai people can say and remember. That’s it. The fact that a whale is actually not a fish isn’t that important when you’re just trying to describe a large swimming sea animal with fins using very few simple words.

Of the many Thai trans women I have known, including my wife, this is absolutely not true. Sure, in the history of mankind I’m sure some complete scum bags for parents have sold their daughters into prostitution or human slavery but raising a ladyboy as some kind of business plan is terrible given the hormone costs and surgery costs and limited earning potential. No, Thai trans women transition is their own free will to match their gender identity. Go ask a bunch and they’ll tell you they felt like this from a very early age.

@陈明-n6i Happy to answer. TG girls do a lot of self examination to understand sex and gender. They face a lot of difficulties in life and often have to endure a lot of hardship. That often makes them very reasoned but also compassionate as they know exactly what it's like to be discriminated against and how to be mentally strong enough to transform yourself into the version of yourself you want to be despite all the challenges. That level of introspection changes a person because you take very little for granted. Femininity for many cis girls is like Dad bought them a Porsche when they turned 16. There is a real taking it for granted. TG girls on the other hand worked thousands of hours to buy that Porsche at great personal cost and they know everything about that car and love it like nothing else. I really like femininity and even my previous girlfriend (a cis woman) fully acknowledges that my tg wife is much more feminine than she is. It's a combination of things. The love of their own femininity. The compassion for others who have been discriminated against. The mental strength to overcome obstacles. Honestly, it really adds up to an attractive package deal. The fact that a lot of guys aren't interested in all is great news for me. It just makes it easier to find a really beautiful partner who are often very appreciative of someone who can love them and be proud of them and take them home to Mom. Happy to answer any other questions you have. Just ask.

The only reason LGBT people have vast number of legal rights, including marriage, discrimination protection, adoption, military service, hospital visitation, etc in the west is that they came out and organized and built a political apparatus that has made an enormous positive impact in their lives. Coming out and being visible cannot be divorced from the mechanism that improves the lives of LGBT people in society. Korea has a long way to go in this regard.
166
I'm very sorry to hear that, Aim. Here's to the world becoming less transphobic in 2021. It's time.
142
@陈明-n6i I married a Thai trans girl. Best decision I ever made. Have you talked to many trans girls before? It's a lot more than just appearance.
140
Trans woman are women but like any skill you can get better at guesstimating trans people by visual inspection when you know what to look for. Yes, there are trans people that are unclockable and there are folks that seem trans but are not. That said, the point still holds. My wife is a trans woman and I play this game all the time with her and unknown others.
139
Situation: Bleak Remediation Strategy: Leave Immediately. Run if you have to.
135
@cheersbud328 Glad to hear it. More for me. I ended up marrying a Thai trans woman.
120
I have no interest in having children nor does my wife. What’s the point of maintaining a biological apparatus you’re never going to use? Let me be clear. I don’t believe in the concept of a biological woman. Gender is in the mind and not the body. It doesn’t depend on the presence or absence of various biological structures. Women without a uterus are still women. If it does for you, that’s great. Makes no difference to me. I’m happy in my life with my wife.
116
Pro tip: If someone says their wife is transgender don’t even bother with your transphobic Jesus influenced nonsense. We’re not interested.
112
It’s funny because it’s true. The case that involved decriminalizing gay sex in the US literally involved cops busting in the bedroom door to two gays having sex. Lawrence v Texas.
111
There is nothing forbidden or dirty about being transgender.
94
You’ve got nothing. I’m a middle aged white dude. My wife is a middle aged Thai trans woman. We’re both in good shape. We’ve been together for 18 years. Thanks for your concern.
93
She was the only way I could make it through the video. You're our hero, face mask girl!
83
I’m sexually attracted to her as I would be to another beautiful female. The body operates on a fairly simple system wherein the levels of estrogen and androgens determine many biological characteristics. Everyone has a X chromosome after all and the Y chromosome codes for very few actual changes beyond spinning up the endocrine system which can easily be replicated. Switch those hormone levels and you’ve transitioned. You’re welcome to believe whatever you wish including in the existence of your God. I’ll do the same.
83
Plenty of cis women spend plenty of money and effort on plastic surgery and looking beautiful. Nothing wrong with that.
81
It doesn’t have the same subtext it does in the west. Ladyboy is used all the time in Thailand when English is used. It’s just an easy word for non native English speakers to remember and say.
76
I feel sorry for decent Thai folks needing to put up with foreign homophobes telling them how to feel about something that’s been a cultural part of Thailand for hundreds and hundreds of years.
76
Without that drama laws don’t get changed. That’s why Thai trans women can’t change their legal gender and marry their husbands and both are possible in the US. Doing nothing gets you nothing.
75
@betht840 My wife is legally female and we are legally married. I delight in negative comments. Be as negative as you wish.
75
I’ve been bisexual since the day I was born. I’ve had long term romantic relationships with cis gay men, cis straight women and trans straight women and now I’m legally married to a Thai trans woman. We’ve been together for 18 years and it’s been the best decision I ever made. I have no second thoughts about trans people. They’re fellow humans just trying to live their best life just like everyone else. I live my life for myself not random internet commentators. If that disgusts you then it disgusts you. Not much I can do about that.
73
It’s not quite so simple. Thailand has a long way to go to do right for trans Thai citizens. Thai trans women can’t legally marry their husbands. They can’t change their legal gender and name on ID and passports. There is no public accommodation law so Bars and nightclubs can discriminate against trans women by class. These are common legal rights now in the west denied to trans women. There is plenty of employment discrimination in management against trans people. Yes there is a high level of tolerance in Thailand but there also is quite a long way to go for social and legal equality.
71
@lailaraden9461 Why shouldn't gay people be accepted and be able to marry the person they love?
71
Her job is cleaning the bathroom, not strong arming people down to the security office.
69
Endocrinology is biology. Why are you wasting your time arguing with someone that has no connection to your reality?
69
Plenty of people in the US fully support LGBT people. In the US, Trans women can legally marry their husbands and they can legally change their gender.
67
Thailand has a vast history, culture and economy. This perception says much more about us and our focus on sex work than it does on Thailand.
65
Not gayyyyyyyyyy. Biiiiiiiiiii. 50% better than gay or straight. Literally doubles your relationship options.
65
@tony-lam Good god, man. 1:05
62
I know. This bothered me too. I wonder why Sauce didn’t pause and say something. I guess she didn’t want to start a confrontation in the middle of the interview?
61
Some people have more experience talking with trans women so they can conjecture more accurately that an unknown someone may be trans. Voice training is difficult.
61
Name of the documentary? I’m not sure what a few isolated examples is intended to prove. It’s not as if some other terrible families have not sold their daughters into prostitution as well. Most trans women in Thailand are not involved in sex work. You can see them working regular jobs all around Thailand every day.
59
Praying away the gay or beating them in public for being gay. Sigh.
58
@陈明-n6i Thank you. Happy to talk about this. I'm from California. I'm 44 . My wife is a Thai trans woman. She's 40. She's dual citizenship, US and Thai. In Thailand trans women can't legally marry their husbands and can't change their legal gender on their ID or Passport. In the US, this is no problem. She's legally female and we're legally married here in California. I imagine things are very difficult for trans people in China, and for people who love them with (I imagine) a lot of family pressure to have their own biological children. Is that right? Are you in Taiwan or Hong Kong? Have you visited Thailand before? Flights to Bangkok and Chiang Mai are quite inexpensive from all over eastern Asia. It's pretty easy to meet Thai trans girls in Thailand.
54
The only way to get to a future where coming out as LGBT is as uneventful as coming out as left handed is for the vast majority of heterosexuals to be very comfortable with LGBT people. The only way that happens is with exposure to LGBT people and you don’t get there by never mentioning it. In a dozen countries in the world you can do hard jail time just for being gay. Only a small percentage of countries have legal marriage equality. The world has a long way to go. This isn’t about what you do in the bedroom. It’s about who love in public and the legal rights you have to protect your relationship.
54
@cheersbud328 She's a trans woman that's had sexual reassignment surgery.
54
What’s so threatening about bisexuals?
53
She’s just acknowledging that Trans women go through a lot to become comfortable in their own body. That’s all.
53
@chris30555 What part about being bisexual is difficult for you to understand? I've had long term relationships with cis females. I've had long term relationships with gay men. I've had long term relationships with trans women. I know exactly how gay it isn't to date a trans woman because I've dated actual gay men. My wife is also legally female. How much actual experience dating gay men and dating trans women and dating cis women do you have to compare and contrast? I've had a lifetime's worth.
