I never beat off to trans people unknowingly. I insist on it!

That’s correct, RPG. Best thing I ever did. We’ve been together for 16 years and legally married for 6 years. We live in Califnornia now but will retire to Thailand eventually. Things are going great. Thanks for asking!
3
That’s a hot take. I like trans women no matter where they are from but I did end up marrying a Thai trans woman. A lot of this anti trans sentiment being stirred up is political in the US, just like gay marriage was in the 2000s. It was a winning issue for conservatives until it wasn’t and now conservatives never talk about it. Funny that.
3
@maurice2014 Nothing contradictory about gender being a social construct and wanting to medically transform your body to look a certain way. To think so is to fully misunderstand trans people.
3
The trouble with that theory is that most Thai ladyboys aren’t sex workers. Plenty also have university degrees.
3
Christians are less than 2% of the population in Thailand.
3
Silicon Valley tech companies all have ultra strong LGBT support. Look at any of their hiring pages and massive support at local LGBT pride marches in San Francisco and all over the bay. So a Samsung phone... running Android OS from Google in Mountain View, California. You realize that at Google headquarters all transwomen can use the women’s bathroom, right? Odd that they can be so brilliant and get something so wrong (according to you) isn’t it?
3
And California law that trans women are legally allowed in women’s public restrooms? That trans women in California can change their legal gender? That trans women in California can update their birth certificate? That gays and lesbians in California can legally marry their same sex spouses? That insurance in California must legally cover transition related health care. Silicon Valley has always been behind all LGBT rights initiatives in California. How did all these brilliant and amazing engineers get it so wrong? Maybe the answer is that you have it wrong.
3
This is just semantics. Trans people in the US understand that they are trans women. Thai trans women in the Thai language address themselves as female all the time.
3
@muayboran6111 Dozens of countries allow trans people to change their legal gender. It’s not a problem there, why would it be a problem in Thailand? Many of those countries have vastly more expensive and comprehensive free health care than Thailand does. Sweden. UK. Canada. Etc.
3
A part of their culture can’t be progressive?
3
Thailand doesn’t have this level of English subtext to the word. It’s really just for the convenience of English speakers like us and it’s easy for non native English speakers to remember and say. They obviously have their own words in Thai.
3
Lol. They are actually famous Thai trans women.
3
@missxmarvel Changed your mind about the thumbnail being pictures of biological women, I see.
3
@herasanchez2346 Yes. Emma didn’t even have the courage to admit that she was wrong even after it was proven who these trans girls actually are.
3
@dirrrtyA Again, gender for me is in the mind and not the body. You’re welcome to disagree.
3
Winter Wyvern Yep, longer than that now, actually. Neither of us want kids. I’d rather retire early and work part time at a meaningful nonprofit or charity doing something in life that helps others who are in need.
3
@MariaJose-vm1gd No worries. It’s just fun to talk about and I have a lot of experience with this topic that most people don’t have.
3
If they disappeared that would seem to indicate more of a problem, not less, would it not? I don’t see why a trans person having a position of authority would be problematic. I’d vote for a trans prime minister if I liked their policies. Aren’t trans women called Waria in Indonesia? Genuinely asking.
3
Momo Chan First, The Life Partnership Bill was approved in late December but has not yet been voted on and the new government will still need to do that. Second, the Life Partnership bill isn’t true marriage equality and does not include state welfare, personal income tax deductions, or adoption rights and there will be many legal challenges surrounding this new legal status that does not exist for marriage. Third, this bill does nothing to help ladyboys change their legal gender and update their IDs and Passports as they can in a couple dozen other countries. Fourth, thanks for your support.
3
It's different. In the US trans women can get legally married and change their legal gender. This is impossible in Thailand. In this respect it's a lot less open than the US. Then again Thai social tolerance and transgender awareness and the ability to mind your own business is much better in Thailand compared to the US. Trans people have been a part of Thai culture for thousands of years. If you have any questions, just ask. My wife is a Thai trans woman.
3
@phonegamerz269 You are wrong. Look up the Hijra, Kinnar, Waria, Muxe, Mahu, fa'afafine and two spirit people. I’ll wait.
3
It’s an English word that’s easy for Thai people who are not native English speakers to say. That’s all. Obviously Thai people have their own words.
3
You're pushing transphobia. Double sad.
3
It does? Completely different language families.
3
Trans women in Thailand call themselves that. Should they stop calling themselves that because you say so?
3
@EnigmazGuide God doesn't exist. The only thing that matters is how we treat each other.
3
@randomly_random_0 You are correct. Billions of people in Asia have no equality under the law for their spouses and to protect their lives and relationship. This is second class citizenship and more countries, like Taiwan, need to do right by their LGBT brothers and sisters.
3
That ultra liberal Thai military junta is clearly at it again. The next thing you know they’ll be allowing people to vote! 😅
3
I ended up marrying a Thai trans woman. Best decision I ever made. If you have any questions, just ask.
3
That's pretty unfair. I've seen lots of cute Phil ladyboys.
3
I’m not sure how that applies to Thailand. Thai people are very religious. There are Buddhist temples everywhere.
3
Ladyboys have been a part of South and SE Asian culture for thousands of years.
3
The Thai are 70 million people. What you can be assured of is a diversity of opinion. Many do yes. Others see them as male. Others see them as female. Unfortunately Thai trans women can’t their gender on their ID as can be done in dozens of other countries, regardless of what medical steps they take.
3
And thousands of years prior to that.
3
But I do want it!
3
Ameteur hour. Marry one like I did.
3
And what foods are they eating? Before you say Soy, honestly there is more soy in the average western diet in processed foods than the average diet in Thailand which is chicken, pork or seafood, rice, rice noodles and veggies.
3
As a gay man I feel the same. I’ve followed the train wreck of ex-gay ministries around the US for the last 20 years. It all ends the same way. Huge group of disgruntled angry gay guys that felt deceived as the leaders finally broke down themselves unable to live a lie as well. I’m not at all happy about what he’s doing to his clients but at the same time I mostly feel pity for what concentrated homophobia can do to these vulnerable people.
3
There is quite a lot lost in cultural translation here. My wife is a Thai trans woman. I'm an American and have spent quite a bit of time in Thailand. The word ladyboy is just easy compound noun for Thai people (whom as a whole are not great English speakers) to remember, say and pronounce. It has none of the subtext that it does in the west. There are many examples of loan words borrowed from English that do not match the same definition as the west. There is plenty of mainstream employment of trans women in blue collar jobs but it is also the case that significant white collar discrimination exists against trans women. There is also no marriage equality in Thailand and trans people can't change their legal gender. This also means I can't marry my wife in Thailand (but can in California). It's a legal LGBT black hole there. If you have any more questions, just ask.
3
...or he could just be lying about not being attracted to men now because he blames himself for his mom’s suicide and this is the only way he can mentally cope. We’ll never know.
3
English loan words don’t have the same meaning in Thailand that they do in the west. Thailand isn’t all that accepting. Trans girls can’t legally marry their husbands nor change their legal gender on their ID and Passport. Such rights are common in the west.
3
Sure it does. If it didn’t matter trans women would never transition.
2
Gotta live a little, tw. Don’t forget the ant eggs and silk worms. They’re delicious!
2
They’re just much less confrontational about their judging. On the other hand that lack of confrontation does make it difficult for LGBT rights to gain traction. There is no same sex marriage in Thailand and trans people Can’t change their legal gender. It’s a mixed bag.
2
Check again. It’s the law in most of North America and Europe that trans women are Legally allowed to use the women’s restroom. Look up public accommodation law.
2
This just simply false. The vast majority of Thai trans women have no history of sexual exploitation.
2
Why would you be sad for people making the choices they want to make?
2
That's part of the reason I married a Thai trans woman.
2
@theroyalcrownedtiger2946 Sure am. Best decision I ever made.
