@DongWang-m4n Sure thing, internet tough guy. Obviously you're tougher than all pro fighters in Thailand that have spent their entire life doing it. Yawn.

Conflating crimes with non-crimes, eh? What’s wrong with trans women living their best lives? They’re to, what, live loveless lives in the closet so you can pretend they don’t exist?
5
I have no conflict with trans people in the west at all. I accept them. Simple as that.
5
Imagine a mad scientist captured you and transplanted your brain into the body of a woman and threw your old body into a shredder. Now what? Do you now live as a woman, with everyone calling you she or so you start on a medical path to change that cursed body you now have into a man’s body? I know what I would do.

...and sell your organs to Chinese scalpers and grind your bones into flour. After that, she'll throw down a couple of Ya Ba and slam a M-150 and ride on the back of an enormous, yet auspicious, water buffalo and then go after your family, Kill Bill style.

There are well documented histories of trans people in cultures all over the world going back to antiquity. Muxe in Mexico, the Hijra / Kinnar in India and Pakistan, the Bakla in the Philippines, the Waria in Indonesia, the Fa'afafine in Samoa, the Mahu in Hawaii, the native american two-spirit, the Ashtime in Africa. The list goes on and on. Pretending that trans people just aren't simply a rare but natural occurrence is just absurd. I've known many trans people personally and exactly zero have been through sexual trauma. There are hundreds of Thai ladyboy interviews on youTube were you can hear all about their normal childhoods.
5
@korre83 I really see it the other way around. That transgenderism is a rare but natural phenomenon clearly present in dozens of independent cultures all around the world since antiquity. Which isn't to say that some people who are trans (or LGBT in general) haven't been more often through abuse. It is also the case that some people who are LGBT are more vulnerable to abusers and are more likely to be abused, in a similar way to non-LGBT girls being abused. Either way, that doesn't make their gender identity or sexual orientation less valid. There are many ways of living in this world. I'm bisexual and I've been happily married to a Thai trans woman for over 10 years and we've been together for 20. Neither of us have been abused in any way and we have a happy and healthy life together.

There are vanishingly few Christians in Thailand and don’t have any use for the transphobic Christian god.
5
Rest assured China can apply plenty of economic hurt on Hong Kong's citizens. They have no need for Tienanmen levels of embarrassing thuggery.
5
Trans people have existed in cultures all around the world since antiquity. Her family had nothing to do with her transition. There are trans people who come from accepting families who love and support their gender identity and condemning families who disown them.
5
The woman with the facemask and red hoodie is the only thing that kept me watching to the end. Just about nope'd out at Adam and Eve.
5
Money falls from the sky after you transition? Amazing!
5
The self hating gays know how to self hate, that's for sure.

The word Ladyboy doesn't have the negative subtext in Thailand that it does in the west. Some of this is just lost in translation. I've known many ladyboys in Thailand who are happy to call themselves ladyboys. It's just a simple compound noun for non expert English speakers to know and remember. My wife is a Thai trans woman. If you have any questions, just ask.
5
@Afternoonsun-c9y Many are, some are not. The Thai population is diverse in ethnicity and race, comprising citizens of Thai, Chinese, Mon, Khmer, Lao, and Indian descent.
5
Well, I hope so. After all they are famous former trans beauty contest winners. They’ve spent more on make up, clothes, hormones and surgery than every girl in your school combined.
5
They are women to me.
5
Being trans is a terrible business plan. Watch some videos of Thai trans women talking about their lives and you’ll discover that the vast majority felt like a woman and wanted to be seen as a woman from their earliest memories.
5
It’s not weird because that’s not really the way it works.
5
She’s a woman to me.
5
Yes. I am referring to your earlier post. There is room for both. That is, you need pride parades and you need to win hearts and minds with heartfelt conversations across kitchen tables with family and coworkers. In fact both are critical. If you study the history of LGBT rights, you’ll discover that both serve a key role. Legal rights are extremely important and without them LGBT people are left twisting in the wind. All of Asia needs to do right by it’s LGBT brothers and sisters.
5
If they dislike trans people than the reason doesn’t really matter, they’re going to dislike them anyway. I guess they can use Yaniv’s specific name instead of some general “Man in a Dress rapist”
5
Take the Holland tunnel into NYC and you'll see plenty.
5
Homophobic people are sick. You should avoid everyone.
5
All those haters will never understand genetics or endocrinology at this level.
5
In the DSM-V it is not a mental disorder. Specifically, says the APA, that psychological distress and disability aren’t inherent to being trans, so being trans doesn’t meet the definition of a mental disorder. It’s a condition or simply dysphoria. All major medical addictions treat gender dysphoria follow the WPATH standard of care which can and often does include medical steps to transition. Your stigmatizing and factually incorrect language is categorically unhelpful. She is living the best life she can under the guidance of medical professionals.
5
Rest assured, most trans people are satisfied with their transition and don’t need your cheerleading for staying miserable.
5
Legal equality for trans people under the law for their gender identity and relationships is not unimportant. Thai trans women cannot change their legal gender nor can they legally marry their husbands. This is important and can and will be changed regardless of what you think they deserve.
5
@mrbateman136 There are many books about everything, including trans people.
5
Nah. You’ll still run into more trans women on any given day in Thailand compared to the US. Thailand is ahead of the US when it comes to social tolerance.
5
Want to put some money on that? They’re actually quite famous Thai trans women.
5
@Trysaratop Wouldn't have it any other way, pal. You can't take it with you when you die. YOLO
5
Jeff Bardot Meaning?

I’ve had several years long committed romantic relationships with gay cis men, straight cis women and straight trans women. There is nothing finally about it. Open and proud bisexuals have existed throughout time.
5
Thailand has a live and let live attitude to what most people do that are not impacting others. It's much less confrontational than the west. That's good and bad, actually. It's bad in that there is very little traction gained for doing anything about LGBT laws. Thailand is an LGBT rights desert. Trans women can't legally marry their husbands. Trans men can't marry their wives. Trans people can't change their legal gender. These are common place legal rights in the west, now. My wife is a Thai trans woman and it's for these reasons we live in California and not in Thailand.
5
As a straight guy you should want as many guys to be gay as possible. Less competition.
5
@y0n_8 No doubt that there are many trans woman comedians. Do realize that such media representation where trans woman are always the jokers partly to laugh with but also partly to laugh at, is also in itself problematic. Read or watch The Celluloid Closet for more information, or watch?v=6nbvNnLGFTo to see a Thai trans woman talking about this poor media representation.
5
Women are complaining about 1% more people in society using their restroom and making the line longer? You must be joking. Do they also complain when a female baby is born? Oh, no. I may have to wait behind this person in line for the restroom in the coming years! The horror!
5
You won’t be missed. Thanks!

C-16 is the Canadian law. You’re taking about Canada or you’re not? Talking about what unspecific laws might do is pointless. Depends on what’s in them. I’m completely fine with whatever absurd pronouns someone wants to use . Its just like their name from my perspective. It’s only a thing because English has gendered pronouns. Having gender free pronouns seems like a step in the right direction to me, anyway.
5
@devinpeirce7152 Unlikely as once a trans person is employed they'll be in a much position to access health care, receive a diagnosis of gender dysphoria from a doctor and begin treatment and transition which is supported by the APA, AMA and the WHO and all major professional medical organizations.
5
I wouldn’t mind at all. You have a 10 of 10 wife. I’d die a happy man.
4
The word ladyboy doesn’t have the same negative subtext in Thailand it does in the west.
4
The majority of trans women in Thailand are not doing sex work. You can see them working retail and salon jobs all across Thailand. Trans women want to look like women. It’s as easy as that. There are trans people in every country in the world.
4
LGBT people pay taxes and deserve full equality under the law. Trans women are women.
4
It’s just their religion promoting homophobia.
4
That and vast array of extremely skilled surgeons at affordable prices to most Thais to help those ladyboys transition with less gatekeeping.
4
@rosebud4387 Plenty of LGBT laws have been passed by a democratic majority. Polling on LGBT rights is at an all time high among the general public, essentially everywhere. Please continue to be a transphobic jackass pining wistfully for the days when LGBT people cowered in the closet. Those days are gone.
4
@MrSnoopydupy I have and that's not my experience which is why I wanted to bring some objectivity to the discussion. I've actually known many Thai ladyboys that don't have particularly large hands and feet.
4
I know many Thai ladyboys too. You’re not factoring in hormone blockers like Lupron at puberty into the equation which is now standard treatment. The entire difference on hand and feet dimension is due to androgen (testosterone) exposure. Remove the androgen exposure medically and you are not going to have hand and feet masculinization. It’s just endocrinology. Now it is the case that many older Thai trans girls have not had the benefit of doing this and their hands and feet are somewhat larger. All the same, the difference is not particularly dramatic in many places. Lots of it depends on how large dad was himself.
