I consider such a bleak situation. That there's no competitor of ASML-Karl Zeiss duo, and whoever controls this duo also controls world availability of such important products.

@MrSpiritmonger China worked out the light source. But the optics is where they are lagging.

Hi Mr. Jon. Have you heard about the recent Graphene Semiconductor news? My jaw dropped as this felt like a real deal this time. Is there any chance that you'll review it in future?
2
Don't know should I feel sad or just LOL!
2
Thanks, Mr. Jon, for portraying the complexity of the situation.
2
Oh our Singaporean overlord, please give your kind eye at the underpaid but qualified and hardworking population of India and her neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal etc.
2
Wow! Sounds like a brilliant idea. If the Aussie govt. is serious, then they sould try this one fast and then evaluate the 2000Km long and $6B wide sun cable project against Plibara Asian Renewable Energy Hub.

One Word: Incompetency! A disease without any external cure.

Jon is a ultra-high NA Ultra-EUV.

One year later, it feels even StarLink's main market is going to be war efforts or areas devastated by war or natural disaster. But since people in a earthquake struck area aren't exactly solvent, I think even for the later, the main customer is gonna be governments. Quite funny, don't you think? In the retrospect, a company whose main market is disaster (natural or man made) struck area is more of a public enemy than a friend. No business can exist to serve people in need.

After watching the "Prices of Yen" documentary, I feel like this video should've been called: "How eating the rich ensured a period of the highest growth and equality for Japan, but how her economic growth is trapped and chocked to death".
2
I almost felt proud to see @11:52 that Mr. John uses the same translator add-on as me :)

What the real-estate market has to do with the GPU market.
2
I'm waiting their nm measure to go smaller than plank length.

"I udn't want to be driving a Russian Tank...." That shows the ignorance of a civilian who considers himself too smart after watching the narrative of just one side of the war. Just tell me, what ud've happened to US military, if they were facing 17,000 Javelins?
2
What ud've happened to US military, if they were facing 17,000 Javelins? I suspect US even have the balls to invade such an enemy. Perhaps, if u live in US or Europe, then worry about your own livelihood and your future first, and laugh about Russian Army later.

I wish these machines were affordable enough for average laboratories! I wish some tabletop setup was affordable enough to set up in your garage. Sad that the world has become to small and too big at the same time. Too small as there's far less in it, too big as everything is out of reach.
2
India is facing serious inflation right now.
2
I thought, x86 is old news, even though this PC I'm typing on, runs on x86.
2
Why da f**k everyone is talkign about this TV show? Even a financial analyst?
2
@shazmosushi Bubble tea isn't popular in the area I live in. Like at all. So, can you explain the fuss about it? In a few worlds, perhaps?

Hello, Mr. Jon. Lately, MIT professor Dr. Donald Sadoway and his student Dr. Bradwell made a lot of names in molten salt battery. Their startup Ambri has also received quite some attention. Now, Dr. Sadoway and Bradwell are mainly researchers. Still, what do you think about their invention? Whether the business model of Ambri actually works or not, what do you think of the technology?
2
Man, your end remark really made me thinking!
2
It takes a village? A village? It takes a Freaking EMPIRE to grow a quality chip.
2
8 months later, what's the update?
2
Really? Game changer? Then tell me, what happened to the Game changer Bayrakter drones? Do Ukraine have any of those anymore?
2
The way you analyze and present the story sets a gold standard on these topics. Its my goal now to be a good analytic story teller like you. May not be a professional YouTuber, but storytelling is everywhere, isn't?
2
Man, your tech reviews are mind-blowing!
2
Mr. Jon should have made it clear in the title.
2
My goodness, now I realize how severely bloated Windows or Mac is!
2
Semi-conductrometry.

Welcome from an old subscriber.

Can even China replace TSMC with another company? Can even the US?
2
Probably no. In one hand, the solar panels won't generate enough power, on the other hand, the iceberg will melt, crack and flip during the voyage, destroying the solar array mid-journey. But some solar panels might be put there for additional power.

@VineFynn Most Economist b4 Karl Marx were merely trying to figure out: "what's the best way to make and keep wealth", "how to maximize profit" etc. Karl Marx is probably the first economist who rather asked things like: What is capital?, What is Labor?, What's the relation between them? How an economic system evolves as a whole? What's the main trend in economic growth and what might be its limit? etc. These are the type of question a true scientist, say a Physicist or a Biologist might ask. Karl Marx is also The First western intellect, who identified the role of what we now call "Chaos". People claiming ...Marx wasn't an economist... is rather the same as that creationist claim: ...evolution is just a theory... Take any other economist for example. Let's take Marshal. The fact that he copied all his math from contenporary physics isn't that of a crime. But the fact that all his concepts shifts in meaning from page to page, makes him a shaman, not a scientist.

My god. For the first time there's a Asianometry episode where I know most the things already. Yes, I'm a Unix and Linux Fan. Can't I still feel proud?
2
Man, your nerd jokes are as excellent as your detail analyses! And they are making me explode in laughter.
2
Pardon me. Where's UA?
2
And yet, Tesla is struggling to go past level 3 automation! Just imagine, what's the care for others. My judgement is that, given the chip and fuel shortage, these AI driven cars will never come to consumer space in any substantial amount. The actual market for this AI might be the military.
2
So, since the 50s car companies and cars are making our air unbreathable, now chip companies are gonna kill us by taking away our water supply.
2
@fungo6631 That's the idea of Profit optimization, in contrast to profit maximization, which most companies go for these days. A lot of companies has rather sacrificed productivity and loyal customer base to maximize shareholder benefit. Since you are an ardent follower of Bosch like me, I guess you can also confirm that just by looking around.
2
Good Luck to India. But it seems too little too late. Still, let's hope for the best.
2
There was a myth that the great pyramids of Egypt are built with slave labor. We know that's not entirely correct. But we're definitely building our own “Great Pyramids” with high qualified modern day slave labor.

Renegade? Or revolutionary? I'm going for the later.

Or SMIC in China.

@100c0c There was a news that some Chinese company is working on XFEL as EUV source. Since China has XFEL fascility already, the mirror assembly is the main thing they are missing. For ASML adopting this - firstly, they don't need it. Secondly, a lot of things both upstream and downstream has to change. Given they are still recouping EUV r&d money, ASML-Karl Zeiss can't lay their had on this tech for another 5 yrs at least. And still it's not clear if it's worth their effort. But if this actually has any potential, China is already having to build everything from ground up. They might try it, instead of trying to reinvent the DUV wheel. Just as they did in their car sector.

Ah! Seems like there is nothing new in FAANG monopoly. But Bears are barely related to national security. So, I see no hope for humanity against FAANG's grip.
1
@Deb_deCoder Lot of nationalism ha? There's no chance of "improve and catch up" without fundamental research. These chip startups aren't remotely doing that. How much that "fundamental research" happens in India? I don't wana talk about that, not with you. U r a ultranationalist lacking any understanding of reality. I just wana note that, the only other way is, if TSMC-ASML due falls, say due to nuclear war or something.

Next up, someday: "Why Asianometry Videos Work"?
1
@cacogenicist Idk. After being battle tested, it feels more like a pack of Lays chips. Mostly empty air, but costs a lot nonetheless.
