Do we think he isn't doing it on purpose?
3
This guy is my favourite presenter on DW. I would like to see more of him, though DW seems to have someone different every video almost.
3
I thought he originally said this was to liberate Ukraine from its corrupt government?
3
It does seem like a good pair. My own country... is pretty disappointing these days.
3
*Social injustices according to them. Which also includes massive hypocrisy, neo-segregationism, general bigotry, group think, and zealotry. But not everyone on the 'left' is like that, US politics these days always tries to make a binary out of what would otherwise be commonly held sentiment. So they alienate and antagonize many people who would otherwise be supportive.
3
If he pays off enough people, he just might.
3
People cling to the past too much to try to get pity points. An apology today from a man who had nothing to do with it only makes wannabe victims feel entitled and validated (like they have more reason to begrudge) while people actually suffering now, today, are still suffering because little or nothing is being done. An apology is only worth something if it is from the person who did the wrong. In this case those monarchs are dead. But there are still people doing human trafficking for slavery, there are still broad labour violations that create effective slavery. I am not saying you can't apologize symbolically, do as you will. But, if you have a problem with slavery attack the problem in all its forms. The past is the past, and nothing can change that. Even if we had time machines and prevented past crimes, it still happened in one history, so if people want to blame the son for the sins of the grandfather they will.
3
If you thought misinformation was bad a year or two ago... Just wait.
3
Is turkey known for elections without tampering?
3
I am pretty sure they said Omicron.
3
...In other news, the price of gasoline went up 15¢ in North America as companies continue to price gouge. Whether this case is true or not. Companies cut too many corners at the expense of the general populace.
2
Feel free to browse Canadian pandemic data, and statements by Healthcare workers around the world. "Even if you have the vaccine you can still transmit the virus" (even more so with omicron, or at least more noticeable with rapid testing). Which is why they pushed keeping masks, last summer as vaccinations approached 75%. Then shortly after it made vaccines seem less appealing so they started evading, ignoring, or labeling commentary on that topic as 'anti-vaxx'. But it's harder to ignore the higher the vaccination rates.
2
Of course not! These American neo-segregationists are regressing society and pushing racism. I can't say what it is like in the US but we have an extremely diverse group of medical students. People are taught to be very respectful of patients cultures and learn aspects of medicine from all over the world. But I can say, if you ever want a society free of racism. NEVER follow the Americans.
2
I have to doubt the departures aren't related to the mainland taking over.
2
If we want deterrence with minimal investment, we put some very basic military exercises into school (marching, etc.). And every citizen get's firearms training, and has a certain amount of rounds to fire at a range every year. One rifle for every citizen, they are kept secured at the public ranges until needed. Then if ever the country is invaded, it would take very little to make them more effective than your average volunteer or draftee rushed through.
2
This disillusionment with democracies that are failing to represent the people seems to be common amongst much of the world right now.
2
Solar is practical, it's highly portable, and more efficient than wind power. They can easily bring electricity to remote and undeveloped communities. But you do always want some diversity to make a reliable and redundant energy system.
2
Yet another news service grabbing the most absurd comments on the video and ignoring the very grounded criticisms. Also dismissing 230k to 20k as "mens rights activists"
2
UN rendered itself useless in this kind of situation as soon as they made the US and Russia permanent members of the security Council and gave them both veto powers.
2
Could easily be eco terrorists. They always do hypocritical things that hurt the environment. (Still Ukraine supporters or other Russian opposition, seems likely. Even Russian misdirection seems plausible) Also what pipeline doesn't have safety valves?
2
lol right?
2
Well in general, war is never a sustainable path.
2
Mmmm that 'Brexit' so good for the economy...
2
If I had to guess it is probably off fighting a war for you. Or tied up in bureaucracy, and slow post pandemic supply chains.
2
If the world ever hopes to have lasting peace, everywhere is everywhere else's business when it comes to maintaining sovereignty. But also, they are a trading partner.
2
I miss the english presenter. But it seems like they have someone different for almost every story, so maybe they run stories more like a newspaper?
2
So... another dumb American?
2
They have likely been planning since they took it.
2
Moldovan news needs to be a bigger focus than weapons going to Ukraine. If Moldova falls the Russians have a new front to Ukraine (let alone the major loss of Moldova itself)
2
I just don't like how quickly the governments touting 'the science' quickly discarded facts, due care, and informed consent in favour of frightened and at times bigoted rhetoric. But I guess that's always the way of it.
2
Sounds like a line from a news anchor satire.
2
If they didn't vote because they wanted to avoid risking their seat, they are very short sighted. Because you can be damn sure they won't make it in next time. And that's on top of failing in their duty as representatives of the people.
2
Ooh, so caty.
2
Of course, we know the security Council has been inherently flawed for decades. They need to shut it down just so they can correct it. They should have acted when trooos were massing to protect the borders. Instead they further demonstrate the UN has failed in the same way as the League of Nations. They failed to learn from history and instead repeat it.
2
I wouldn't antagonize them for this. The truth is Ukraine was widely known to be corrupt, so there is bound to be some fault to be shared. It is the 15% who blame Ukraine alone that I would be concerned about. Or at the very least, hear their rationale and see if it is a valid position or if they are unable to judge situations objectively.
2
Is that a typo that is supposed to say 'Bolster'? Or was it an attempt to launch a missile pun?
2
Sadly that is true.
2
Weird that the ship it launched from doesn't have its exact location or details leading up to it. ...Or have things come so far that it can operate fully independently?. In which case, it seems irresponsible not to have an EAP, or a comm buoy. When you climb or dive there is a buddy system. If you are in a sub, you would think you would plan with another company if you don't have a backup sub and//or a base ship (I can't remember the term).
2
I am glad he pushed back on 'strategic' and 'gamechanger'.
2
I still think the UK failed in their responsibility to their citizens, by handing them back to China and failing to uphold terms that ensured their democratic freedoms and general welfare.
2
@alisheransari2454 "good for you, make the s3x!" lol
2
Parhaps they will use humans as processors. ...Or batteries, lol
2
Trade yes, but did they settle the border?
2
China doesn't like that people are trying to move production elsewhere.
1
Sorry, when you say 'youth unemployment in China' You have to think of child labour and that being a good thing. Why people are referring to adults as youth is... absurd.
1
In most places the accents are understood better because of the shared pronunciation. Like in Japan. One might feel like the naturalized english pronunciation seems racist and making fun of the imperfections (because the oversensitive and offense by association in the US/west). However, the sounds are the way they are because of their alphabet and vowel limitations. Accent is part and parcel with apeaking a language.
1
No one has to declare their opinion. They can always continue acting on a case by case basis.
1
I am not concerned about aging, I just don't want to hear the BS coming out of some people.
1
Attacking any civilian targets is unacceptable (whether or not the targets were government or military is another question). But If Ukraine wants to take back it's country the best way to do it is to make consequences for the Russian government and give them leverage to demand their territory be returned. Otherwise, it's just a distant war in another country for many Russian citizens, and a steady loss of lives and resources for Ukraine as more and more terrain, homes, and buildings are destoyed.

I would vote for him over Trump, but If Yang runs I would vote for Yang.
