It's still not a crime if they prove the Trump ordered the hush money payment. The "crime" he is accused of is falsifying business records to cover up the "crime" of the hush money payment. But hush money payments aren''t illegal, so he is (implicitly, because the indictment is not clear) accused of covering up a campaign finance crime. But the prosecution's problem is that the FEC looked at this and concluded in 2018 that it wasn't a campaign expense.

He didn't call her a "nasty person" off the bat. She kept interrupting him when he was trying to explain the presidential records situation. Then he asked her to let him speak, and she made a snarky comment. We're already back to the 2016 media playbook. The media employ cry-bully tactics. They're very rude and disrespectful to him, and when he calls them out, they cry "how dare he".
42
The FEC has even come out and said that Bragg is full of shit. It's hard to find the article. It's only in about 2 papers.

Takei's whole life has just been milking being a second tier character on the original Star Trek. Maybe even 3rd tier, because he was less important than Scotty. He's so obsessed with it that he has a burning hatred of William Shatner because he was the star.
42
"Poopoo Peepee" basically sums up Slate. They're very childish about anything that's critical of them. And people incapable of self-criticism aren't people you'd waste your time with.
40
Did you see the one where he did the creepy whisper into a teen girl's ear with his hands on her shoulders "No dating until you're 30." And she and her friends were just "O.M.G!!! Is the crazy old president putting the moves on me? W.T.F.?"
39
Imagine having your cultural identity centered on being descended from slaves? Granted, I'm not going to deny things that happened. But Christiane Amanpour even brought up slavery at the British Coronation. Britain is the country that ended the slave trade. They blockaded ships from picking up the slaves on the west cost of Africa being sold by African slavers.
39
Partisan tribal identification goes to the core of all their thinking. Just consider their attitude if we had a president Trump or Cruz who, stumbled trying to go up stairs, made huge gaffs without noticing or correcting himself, sniffed women and little girls in meetings, never held press conferences.
39
Gen. "white rage" Miley even consulted the Chinese behind Trump's back. I thought that kind of thing would get you sent to the brig.
38
They're afraid of India first politics.
38
The "Crossed State Lines" idiocy is dead, and twitter is crying. On MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, and Young Turks, they were obligated to say "CROSSED STATE LINES!!!" in the first sentence of every report.
38
This is the first time I've seen a "non-unruly mob" burn down buildings. MSNBC is such a joke. Their viewers are the least informed people in the country.
37
I've always been shocked at the easy way these progressives can justify racial discrimination. Harvard even has different SAT score merit criteria for different races.
37
I noticed that when Muir asked Harris "Are Americans better off now than 31/2 years ago?" and Harris gave a canned response, completely avoiding the question: "I grew up in a middle class family. I worked with many ordinary working class...." She gave the exact same response yesterday when asked "What specifically will you do about inflation?" She has been coached to give filler, AI, reboot, responses, that have nothing to do with the question. What's creepy is that people are fooled by it.
36
@ashishpatel350 And that was bad loan policy. Because it created the bubble.
35
@iamwhoyousayiam6773 His knee was on his back.
35
The methane from the Nord Stream sabotage is 80x more of a greenhouse gas than CO2. One should checkout the conditions at the lithium mines in the Congo, for all the EVs.
35
I don't think the attorney general ever holds over when an opposing party president enters. It's the FBI director that customarily stays. Garland is out if the Democrats lose in 2024 regardless.
35
The secretary of state or the vice president mishandling classified documents is a prosecutable offense. The president mishandling classified documents is not.
34
@RighteousJ That's how this case helps Trump. He can tell voters that the opposition has weaponized the justice system against him, and he is is completely accurate. The judge's family has raised 91 million for Democrat campaigns with this case.
34
I've seen videos of Zelensky giving speeches in Ukraine wearing a regular suit and tie. So dressing up like commando is some fashion statement.
34
@alkestos Biden just voluntarily gave the WHO (a puppet organization of the CCP) 500 million dollars. He should have negotiated the agreement given that China pays 39 mil. Why would they respect him? They know he's a pushover.
34
Same attitude about race as male feminist toward women.
34
The 2008 recession was global even though it was caused by a US housing market bubble, that was exacerbated by bad US loan policy.
33
Shatner and Nimoy were the stars, but they didn't just keep trying to milk the same roles (except Nimoy was typecast), then went on to other shows. Shatner did TJ Hooker, and Nimoy was in Mission Impossible. But Takie is "I was Sulu. I had two lines in each episode. Kiss my feet."
33
It's interesting seeing the antisemitism vs. Islamophobia battle. Similarly, I know someone who saw a fight in their workplace lunchroom between a Jew and a black guy. "The holocaust was the worst tragedy!!!" "No...Slavery was the worst!!!" "No!!!! the holocaust!!!" "No!!! Slavery!!!"........
33
Legislation grifting is common for presidents. Obama bragged about his proposed "equal pay act" in the 2015 state of the union. But that law was passed in 1963 by JFK.
33
I think the "socialism" just means a 60% personal income tax rate. But with low business taxes.
32
"The turkey should be our national symbol." That's why you never take advise from a fat guy.
32
Bragg is prosecuting Trump for recording payments correctly according to the FEC. The FEC doesn't consider the payments to be campaign expenditures. This is the equivalent of the local DA prosecuting you for your federal taxes, after the IRS has concluded that you payed everything correctly.
32
Basically we spent 20 years building up Afghanistan, built roads, infrastructure, utilities, phones, 50 billion in military equipment, etc. and we handed it back to the Taliban.
32
@sapphireblue222 One could do race neutral casting. But that's pretty silly for a movie. But they're not content with that. They have to appropriate.
32
This is just another version of the "CRT isn't taught in schools" tact.
31
6:30. We know that there weren't any classified documents in the bathroom. We have the receipts from the FBI, it lists where classified documents were found -- only in his office and the storage room. And were those "classified documents"? I am thinking that he would have just declassified everything he took.
31
I stopped identifying as a "liberal" when I realized that it's just a group identity, basically a cult, complete with group signaling (eg. pronouns in bios), and shunning tactics. And they're not more kind. There are more kids packed into Biden's detainment sheds than were in the Trump border detainment.
31
I thought it was funny, that the Democrat media was proposing Liz Cheney be speaker. Someone who would get zero votes.
31
They get evasive when cornered intellectually. The left needs two versions of everything. There's the ideologically left, Marxist, version which they endorse. Then there's the watered down "CRT is just anti-racism" version they sell to the masses. The problem for them is that CRT was founded by Derrick Bell, a segregation supporter.
31
The US is probably the only country that doesn't have a universal national ID card. Another unique thing about the US, is not passport control when leaving the country.
31
Cohen perjured himself at least 5 times during his testimony. You can't draw any conclusions from what he says.
30
These cases are such a joke. So the judge's daughter was making money off the case for the Adam Schiff campaign. No bias there. And imagine actually working to get Adam Schiff, of all people-structural marvel and pathological liar, elected.
30
She lost her primary by the greatest margin of any incumbent in over a century.
30
He also thinks there was no way of pulling out of Afghanistan without leaving billions in equipment for the Taliban and leaving US residents and NATO citizens trapped in enemy territory. And also not even notifying NATO partners of what is going on, and not even answering the phone when they're wondering what is going on.
30
It's always informative to see their spin on this disaster. Jon Stewart spun this withe the very dishonest "Both candidates are geriatric and incoherent." It's not true. Trump was speaking coherently, while Biden was falling apart.
30
Kinzinger-Cheney slogan: "January 6 was worse than 911, so give us money."
29
@jamesmorrow1646 LOL Julian Assange is in London. Dude. Your country has COVID internment camps.
29
It's always surprising how much racial resentment minorities have. Because like most whites, I seldom think about race. All the racial power politics being forced on us is obviously the emotional reaction of people with a chip on their shoulder. I'm old enough to be really familiar with that emotional reaction. You get it from other people too, people who couldn't get into college, people from weak counties (primarily from 1st world weak countries, Australia, Netherlands), and low income yuppies bitter about wealthy people.
28
The diplomatic solution to Ukraine is actually simple. The US could stay out of the former USSR republics politically. Trade isn't a problem, but supporting "pro-democracy" candidates is a politically aggressive act. They're not even pro-democracy; Zelensky jails opponents, and shuts down opposition media.
28
@iamwhoyousayiam6773 This incident was blown grossly out of proportion. Chauvin could have tasered Floyd under standard procedure. He was holding Floyd on the ground because experience shows that people with excited delirium are less likely to die if held still.
28
The Democrats are complaining that she wasn't nearly tough enough with him. "She needs to just stop everything and keep asking him, until he give an acceptable answer." --Slate commenter. Their pushback was doomed to fail because Trump has the facts on his side with most issues.
28
@imarriedabrkfsttaco3737 That's the deal. This case would have never gone to trial if we were living in normal times. The people in charge, judge, DA, are using the court for politics. This isn't a real legal case.
