  2. Realistically I think the US has no choice just like it would seem with most if not all Western European countries but to only try to lesson the damage and not overrun hospital capacities. In other words it's to late for most states to do anything else. Some states do have the option to get it under control if their current numbers are low but this isn't happening. Alarm bells should have sounded by the end of January when the US had less documented cases than Australia which given we are less than a tenth of your population and travel to and from China would be at least 5 times as great in the US using an extremely conservative guestimate. It would have been statistically about 1 in a million chance that Australia could have more cases. Also from looking at the CDC website it would seem to me that should be the organization to be monitoring and advising on testing under Ray Butler's section. The body that Fauci works for and has been a director of for 30 plus years seems to be more of a research body however there is some overlap with the CDC. I am wondering why no questions have been asked of Ray Butler and have to search the CDC website rather than see it on the news. Fauci and Butler both have a lot of explaining to do and in the end if Trump prevented them from doing their jobs properly they should say so but to me with the current information available all 3 are due credit and the fact no system existed to deal with such an issue is self evident at this point in time.

  5. I think in a so called all white state you are actually safer. There is less racial conflict. The white voters in states with lower proportion of minorities voted at a larger rate for Obama.

  7. Not necessarily. You are speaking when the President is the head of government. In some countries this is not the case. The president's position can be like that of a King or Queen in a constitutional democracy. In Italy this would appear to be the case for example.

  9. The delivery driver admitted he didn't handle it that well and basically said he was having a bad day , and same probably applies to the other guys. To compare this to basically chasing down a black guy with guns in the case of Arbery is absolutely ridiculous. Just see it for what it really was based on information available a few people getting into a dispute and both over reacting. If the driver had given full details when questioned " I delivered a parcel to ..... and call him/ her if you want I just want to get my next delivery done" it would have been over in a minute. The reactions and minor escalations and de escalation by both to me indicates they could probably have a beer together and laugh about the situation now.

  12. The outcome is likely to be more police and less businesses. Only a brave person would set up a business any time soon in these areas. I feel great pity for the smaller business owners who have lost everything and there will be some in this category. This event might already be causing deaths due to covid19 and people in affected areas scared to leave their homes. Shame on the rioters. Peaceful protestors ok but they should no longer be out.

  15. Well a bad Chicago weekend has more killings than unarmed people in the entire United States over a 1 year period by police. Every case is documented and arguments can be made whether or not justice is done in each particular case. The clearance rate for homicides in Chicago was 53% last year I think and that was considered really good because they were even worse before. More detectives are needed in that jurisdiction it would seem. Defund them is madness and this is the protesters main point.

  16. Death penalty doesn't work and it's been proven in the US in the past many innocent have been killed and also currently those with expensive lawyers are much less likely to receive such a penalty.

  17. I just did a quick search based on an observation. The data was a little old and didn't include my country. The US had 12% female officers in 2015 , the only country in the list that was lower was Japan . Statista was the website. I think if a female officer was on the seen regardless of color this event would have been less likely. Maybe putting a few more females in the job would help, and doesn't need to be positive discrimination , just encourage that they are needed and suitable one will come.

  22. Every country that has a diverse population will have this problem and Australia is no different. The racism comes from all sides and the video showed this because one of the attackers was not white. Overt racism tends to be more prevalent in lower socio economic groups of all colours.

  24. The funny thing is they actually want some form of socialism where businesses are no longer permitted to make operation decisions. Discrimination on certain basis is not permitted but actually the store in question could probably pass that test if a disabled person wasn't permitted due to not wearing a mask because they will have someone get the products for you.

  42. This is not like HK. The harshest policing and judicial system in the free world is supported by the majority of Americans. Violence against violence . Americans can vote and continuously vote for tough on crime. You have the highest crime rates in the world for a high income country. The policy are not working. Even in this line of comments people are saying let's kill those police. So advocating more violence to fix violence.
